Can any members provide any tips on pulling into the bus stop without touching the curb. Also with the interlock in the 1 o'clock position is the interlock is engaged by pressing the brake and deactivated once all the doors are closed by pressing the the brake also?

yes pressing the brake hard is the last step. it's dangerous as well, always look at your mirrors before activating the interlock, an incoming bike, scooter could crash the rear doors and the customers exiting, even if your covering your right they will manage to squeeze through. If you must leave your seat pni , pni, pni very important!

Hello everyone hope all the probies on this list are doing well. I’m about 8.5 months on the job and doing well so far. I have been contacted by the dept of sanitation for an opportunity as a sanitation worker. I am conflicted as to what position would be better for me as I am very happy as a BO currently. I was wondering if @+Young+ or anyone else with a way to contact HR for bus operators could give me the contact information. I could be leaving during my probation and I was wondering if that affects my ability to come back as a bus operator if I decide that the DSNY isn’t for me. Also, if anyone has any experience or knowledge about working for the DSNY I would love to hear what you have to say because I don’t know much about the job compared to being a bus operator. Thanks!

Hi, what is your list number for the dsny exam if you don't mind sharing

    Thank You

Most likely your friend will have to contact Zerega since they still belong to Zerega. They will not have to redo the training certification process, but instead they will have to attend to Zerega for two days for a refresher behind the wheel on the road with a group of other operators who have been out of work due to Workers Compensation or illness. After the refresher, they will continue their probation period.

thank you, do you know if she will be able to return to the original depot that she picked?

  4. Hi everyone

a friend of mine resigned as a BO for this exam about 6 or 7 months ago and she told me that she could return in under a year.

She was on probation still, would she have to start all over again from the beginning Day 0 Zerega if she came back?

Who should she get in contact with if she plans to return to BO?

    Thank you everyone

  5. Hi everyone

I got a call yesterday to come in this Monday for a pre employment drug test at 180 Livingston.

I am currently a bus operator and most likely have to work Monday, what can I do so that I can be able to make the appointment this Monday?

Can they accommodate me in some way or deny me the opportunity to keep this Monday appointment?

    Thank You

Oh okay. When I clear today I will PM you some pictures of what you can use as a reference. What I notice that the superintendent doesn't show you the full structure technique how to maneuver these articulated buses which I plan to teach someday in the future if I ever joined the safety and training division at zerega.

    Hi,

Could you please send me that PM as well, I would gladly appreciate it.

    Thank You

Thanks for the insight boys, my appointment is for Tuesday morning I’ll share my experience when i go in.

Hopefully we’re apart of the first 50, good luck yall.

Hi what is your list number around?

I am in the 400's range so I probably won't make the first two classes.

It looks like they are doing 50 per class.

I submitted my pre employment on the last day March 5 but I have not gotten any response back

  8. Thank you for the responses everyone.

I have been working with the New Flyer Artic a few times, just wanted some advice on leaving a bus stop and not hitting the rear with something like a hydrant,

and also turning, it's totally different for turning and challenging

Yeah if CS isn't available, you will go to either depot based on where the operators in front of you go. When a spot opens up at CS, they will let you know that it's time.

Also finish probation before going to Track. If you leave before the year, it'll become a one way deal. You don't like it, you will have to go through the hoops of getting your name readded on the list. You'll lose all your seniority, etc. It's not fun nor a guarantee that you'll be able to come back to being a bus operator.

but if I pick either Queens Village or Jamaica because Casey is not available, aren't I stuck for life in the depot ?

In Queens you can't move around the depots once you pick a depot, that's what I am hearing.

  10. thank you for the responses

On Day 0 I put in for transferring to Queens.

I would like to go to Casey Stengel depot, if I get offered a transfer to Queens but Casey Stengel is not available, could I pick either Queens Village or Jamaica and transfer to Casey depot when it's available at a later time?

Congratulations on passing bus operator training and the road test!

For the school bus endorsement, you have to take the road test in a school bus.

If you get called for track worker, you can resign bus operator position, but you will likely have to do the Zerega training all over again since you neither "graduated" or completed the one-year probation period. However, if you decline (which you may up to three times so long as the list is active) the track worker position and complete the one-year probation in the bus operator title, you can reinstate your name on the track worker list and accept the call for the track worker. You should have the option of returning to the bus operator title within one year if for whatever reason being a track worker does not work out.

    Good Luck!

    What does graduation mean?

so your saying if I graduate then I could resign bus operator and try for track worker and then come back with in a year if it doesn't work out ?

I don't necessarily need to complete the one year probation?

  12. Hi everyone

I am currently a few days in training after passing the DMV road test and upgrading my permit to CDL.

The DMV in the Bronx didn't let me keep the School bus endorsement when I upgraded, so I only have P endorsement.

They said I have to pass the road test with a school bus, not the city bus.

    Has this happened to anyone?

Also if I were to get called for track worker while I am doing bus operator training, what choices do I have?

    Thank you

Don't expect them to hire off this list, slowly but surely they are phasing this title out it seems.

Do you think they are replacing this title or just ending it?

How do you know they want to get rid of the title?

Thanks for the update @Young, I went to the webpage and my name still appears on the list. In addition, I also sent an email to have my name restored as was suggested by 180 Livingston. As of this post I have yet to get a response saying my name was restored. I'm aware that they don't move as fast as I would like lol, so hopefully I'll get a response soon saying whether restoring my name was necessary or not. It look like I'll have to do the paperwork, medical and drug test over again smh. I'll keep you guys posted.

o no, you have passed the 90 day mark it seems.

March is almost finished and there has not been a new class so far...
