  1. Update: There could be a chance the roll wasnt taken but merely scrolled all of the way to the white sides
  2. So..... some interesting things happened today on the Southern Division. R68 2874 (CI set) had a original 1980s rollsign with standard Q diamond and JFK express. And while it was in service today on the Q (with people trying to take photos of it because its not everyday you stumble upon a original R68 rollsign), someone stole to rollsign clean off of 2874. So there goes one original R68 end rollsign out of the handful that remain.
  3. What gave the 1996 Orion 5s that unique screeching noise not found on other Orion 5 diesel models that the TA owned?
  4. Only time will tell. I do think, however, that Baisley would just raid ECH’s scrap yard lol - theres a plethora of Old Gens waiting to be sent off, and BP’s current standard fleet is all OGs as well.
  5. The only difference that is most evident between R188s and R142As is the font used on the external numberboards. In the image above, 7219 is a converted R142A, while 7899 is a R188 C car built brand new. The font used on the numberboard of 7219 (presumably Standard) is the same font used on all R142As (including the converted sets) The font used on the numberboard of 7899 (presumably Helvetica) is the same font used in all R188s, and is similar to the font used on the majority of R160s. Other than that one difference, the R188s externally look exactly like R142A.
  6. Are R32s banned from operating in the Montague Tube?
  7. Why not put it on the paper and digital maps? If the TA is going to update it with more accessibility compliant stations soon, why not kill two birds with one stone?
  8. An XD60 from JFK also has that feature. I saw it on the mobile site of BusTime running on the Q10.
  9. When the Montague and Clark St tubes were being fixed, the paper subway maps printed during that time were altered to show those changes. When the ran overnights to 96 St-2 Av, neither the online nor the paper subway maps reflected that service addition. When the was truncated from CI-Stilwell to 86 St, the online map was revised, but the paper maps that were still being printed DID NOT reflect in that change. Why doesn’t the TA maintain consistency with the online and physical maps?
  10. This reminds me: does 3760 (JFK unit) still have NYCB decals sides and back? Its been like that for years, ever since it was based out of Baisley, and I know it was repainted a while back.
  11. Jamaica ran theirs into the ground (they ride rougher), and this could be linked to the multiple rejects from CI during the fleet swap.
  12. Are there any pics floating around that showcase these oddities?
  13. They looked more fit for the 42s. The salvage gates dont look as smooth as the springs (rigid rod on the end compared to the bent metal that looks more snug)
  14. Its kinda odd and funny that part of the original IND fleet lives on to this day, albeit on the fleet that killed them off from service.
  15. When the R42s were receiving pantograph gates in the 1980s, did they all receive gates from the R1-9s or was it a mixture of brand-new gates and salvaged R1-9 gates?
  16. Not to mention the lack of side destination/route signs.
  17. With the R42s going into refuse service, is it possible that the R33WFs used in B Division refuse service be retired? Or will they be sent back to A Division?
  18. I think the IND mezzanine at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av-74 St has this setup.
  19. 6206-6207 was a married pair with 6207 having the hostler on its leading end. But then they were mated to 6152-6153 after that 2017 wreck.
  20. What happened to 3926? Involved in a nasty accident?
  21. Two questions: 1. How many Phase II R32s are left on property? 2. Which R62/A was the single “R142A” from Pelham 123 converted from?
