  1. Ok y'all. I have other questions now. Anyone can chime in, please. 1. I know someone that works as a conductor and I was able to borrow a Rules and Regulations book. Can anyone tell me what, if anything right now, I should be studying from here? It's a thick book. I don't want to read it randomly. 2. What if someone doesn't make it successfully through School Car? Would they be offered a different position, say as a station cleaner or such? I've seen cleaners that said they had scored low on other exams (like conductor) and still managed to secure a position cleaning until some later point in time when they may be able to retest. 3. What's the current starting salary/hourly rate for Conductors? I've heard different numbers thrown around. Does anyone know for certain? I'd like ot try and have an idea. Leaving my current job, I'm definitely going to be taking a pay cut (very happy to do so btw) so I'd like to try and figure how my monthly overhead will have to be adjusted until I can get back to where I am now as far as salary. 4. Is overtime available during school car? (most likely not) and/or is overtime available for new recruits after school car and during the probationary first year? Thanks in advance.
  2. I dunno how we can know for sure who we're working with but i will assume that Schecter is your last name so if I come axcros anyone with that name I'll def shout you out and ask if you're on the forums. It'll be cool to put a face to a name that was helpful and friendly. Good luck with the TO position. Salute to all our essential workers!
  3. I can dig this. I'm not a young guy out of high school or even college. I've been working a long time and at my current job for 14+ years. I've learned the hard way that it's ok to be cool with people at work but there's definitely a need to keep from getting too personal. Also, if that is the case and there's a class for Sept 8, that's VERY exciting. I don't do drugs or drink so I know that'll come back squeaky clean. I am also physically healthy so my medical should be fine. I don't wear glasses, have good hearing and I've never had issues with blood pressure. Cheers to everyone that's answered questions and helped me so far. Schect, Riku, Young...and a few others. It's really been helpful for me during this time and all of the insights have gotten me here to this point where I previously had no resource for info.
  4. Do you know if there is a scheduled class to begin Sept 8th?
  5. Much appreciated man. I will do my best to study hard. Is there anything in particular that I need to stay focused on? Also how long is the training? I think I'll be fine. I usually test well even when i don't study. For this I will definitely study HARD. My career literally depends on it.
  6. Thanks and good luck brother. I'm very excited for this opportunity. Is there anything that I should know going into medical and then school car training? Is there anything I can study for school car so I can make sure I do well there? I have been waiting SO long for this and I don't want to make ANY mistakes. I plan to retire from MTA. Also. I used to work for the City back in the 1990's in ACS. (I believe it's called something else now, maybe DFS or something like that). Someone told me that I could pick up back where I left off in Tier 4 and buy back any time that I missed during my employment of 3.5 years. I understand it's up to Tier 6 now so being able to get back in Tier 4 would be fantastic. Do you have any info on that and who I would speak to once I get into the job? If you don't know, would you be able to find out who I can call or email to inquire? Thanks man. I'm so hyped to move on to better things.
  7. Hi Leo. I've seen that most people don't publicize their list number, I can tell you I was between 1900 and 2000 if that helps.
  8. Ok. SO I got an email this morning inviting me to 180 Livingston next week to bring my paperwork and do the drug test. I'm actually pretty excited by this. Can anyone tell me how long it takes AFTER the drug test appt? What is the procedure from that point forward? Thanks in advance.
  9. I appreciate that, thanks. What docs do you need to bring with you for the drug test? I don't work for MTA yet, so I'll come in a suit since I don't have uniform yet. I dress for the job I have now so it's no big deal anyway.
  10. I sent mine on the 28th when I got it. But I guess with the updates needed for the employment history it pushed me back a bit. I'm hopeful they'll email me this week for the drug screen. Schecter, keep me posted if you don't mind, on how long it takes to get called for the medical next. I will assume it'll be this week as well. How did the drug screen go? Did you have to stay there all day? Did you have to do anything else that day? Are we expected to get dressed up for it?
  11. I sent in my pre-employment application and they emailed me telling me to be more thorough with the employment history. I did it then they called me (same person that emailed me) and asked me to just change the date for my current employer to "present" instead of the date I had entered. This was last week (wednesday?) so I think I am set. now I'm just waiting for the call for the drug test which will be NO issue as I don't do anything. I'm hoping to get through it all ASAP. I can't wait to leave my current job. FYI to all that are getting pre-employment applications or expect to soon. MAKE SURE YOU CAN ACCOUNT FOR ALL WORK HISTORY BACK TO WHEN YOU LEFT HIGH SCHOOL. I gave 15yrs experience and it wasn't enough. they need the full account. You can contact your local Social Security office and pay $91 for your earnings history. It'll only give the job and the year (maybe month? I'm not sure) but it'll be super helpful especially if you have a long work history either going back a long time or just a lot of jobs. BEST OF LUCK ALL! See you on the other side.
  12. SO. I called my local SSA office. I spoke to a woman who was super helpful. She said sending everything overnight and having it sent back to me overnight might still take close to 10 business days. But as we spoke, we got a little small talk in. She has family also waiting to get in so I gave her the heads-up to make sure her fam has all of this employment history paperwork up to speed as no one told ME I would need it. She was appreciative and she read off all the info I needed right over the phone. The info she provided did not have specific dates, just the year. And it didn't have specific company locations but rather had the EIN listed address. For example, a company I worked for had their corporate address listed (probably because that's where the checks were cut from) so I used the information provided and it helped me remember a lot of stuff. I did my best with the months and there was quite a bit I forgot about but they were mostly brief jobs that lasted a 1-3 months. I was able to confidently submit my updated information. Even if the months are off just slightly, the information is complete and I am hopeful that this is all that they needed. I'll keep the community updated and hopefully my experiences will help others going forward. Cheers.
  13. That's what I thought. I hope that's enough. If I have to, I'll see about going in person and paying for it if needed. If they give me the chance. It's just about as accurate as I can have it going back to 2005. There may be small inaccuracies with the months on some of the info. I'm waiting for a reply now.
  14. The problem with this, from what I saw online, is they charge you $91 and the form itself says that the request can take up to 120 days. I just filled in the information to the best that my memory serves. Hopefully that is enough. I did actually go back to high school though
  15. Ok Young. Maybe you can answer this for me. I got an email today telling me to update my employment history from present and go back to high school. I left high school in 1995. I can't remember that far back. I gave employment history all the way back to 2005. I would think 15yrs is enough. Now i'm nervous and I don't want to lose this opportunity. 😕
  16. I don't know but my number is 19xx and I got mine on 7/28 or 7/27, I forgot which. I got an automated call, text message and an email. The email had the link to download the paperwork and it had to be submitted by 7/31.
  17. I would like to thank you again. this information is very helpful. I do have my paperwork saved so if needed, I can resubmit. I did submit on the 28th and since I have not heard anything back yet in almost a week, I will take that as a good sign. My list number was just under 2000 so this is why I was contacted. I am excited to begin this process. Like everyone else, I've waited a long time for this. I spoke to a couple of bus drivers and conductors and I was told that once the pre-employment packet was received, the process tends to move rather quickly from THAT point forward so I was just hopeful to hear some good news along that line. I wish you all the best and I hope the list does get extended so they can reach your number. Hopefully I'll see you on the other side of employment. Stay safe!
  18. Thanks for this. I just posted on the last page of this thread because I didn't see this response so I'll paste what I typed earlier and then i'll review what you hyperlinked. "Just curious. Last week on the 28th, I received an email with a link to fill out my pre-employment paperwork and submit it before the 31st. I submitted everything the same evening along with copies of my degree and drivers license. This is for exam 6601, Conductor btw. I am curious if anyone can give me a timeline on when I should expect to be contacted to go downtown and what I should expect? I was nervous about the work history as the form said to go all the way back to after high school but that's quite a way for me. I did go back on work history for 15 years. I hope that's enough. Thanks in advance! I'm excited at the prospect of leaving my current job so I'm anxious to have a ballpark time frame and an overall idea of what to expect. I have 0 tickets on my license, and I don't do any drugs so I should be fine there."

  20. I took the 6011 Conductor exam in 2016. The list was established in Feb 2017 if I recall correctly. I just received an email, call, and text all within 5 min of each other asking if I am still interested in the Conductor position. I had to go online and do a 1 question survey that literally just asked if I’m still interested. Is anyone familiar with this part of the process? How long will it take for me to get the pre-employment offer? Also, does anyone know what the physical is like? I don’t mean the drug test. I’m clean and not concerned. I mean the physical. Is there lifting, carrying heavy equipment, etc. thanks all and good luck to everyone that applied.
