    Hey everyone!

i went through my pre-employment and medical exam. I was suppose to start November 1st but told them I was unable to due to the short notice. I asked when the next class was but was old there wasn’t any on the schedule. Do any of you happen to know? Should I have just started when asked to?

    thanks! :)

Truth is, if I were you I would call back and put my name on the list for the class. You never know when the next class and or opportunity will come around. Granted everyone has a life and circumstances may not be ideal at the moment but if it’s a career/job you’ve been waiting for why place it on hold. Run with the opportunity.

I explained the differences between the two here. If all of it doesn’t matter or affects you, then it’s basically the same. If you have time served with NYCERs, you would want to be TA, so your time served carries over.

Thanks for the info @SevenEleven  so ideally it really doesn’t matter if you get in with OA or TA. Its the same benefits other than pension being backed by NYCERS for TA.

Question about this exam. I read through the string and it seems to be OA. Is that correct? Also, all previous MTA Bus and OA I applied to recently were BOSS only with random list numbers. Is this exam going to be used for TA and a civil service position? Thanks to anyone that can clarify.

@mtax If I’m not mistaken this exam is under MABSTOA. As regards to them using it for TA that’s a bit far fetch and shouldn’t be done legally. Only way to clarify this is when they call you in to 180 Livingston for appointment.

  4. Does anyone know if MTA is still hiring for this exam 9618.  It’s been a while since I’ve seen anyone post their list number and or confirmation that they’ve received a canvass email or packet via mail. (Asking because they’ve started sending out canvass emails for Exam 1100 already).

for those that already took the test or scheduled to take the test, what is your list number?

It’s relatively weird how things is working at the moment with MTA and these exams. If I’m not mistaken 1100 is MABSTOA so we should have a general list number correct? Here’s the kicker. I took my test on 10/09/21 and received a email to attend 180 Livingston next week to submit canvass packet. Was never given a list number. Don’t get me wrong I’m absolutely happy to have gotten that email. 2 week time span. They’re hiring relatively quickly figured it would be a few months.

Hey guys just got the email for my appointment next week, for the application my first job was in 2015 but I graduated from HS in 2014 does that time period count as unemployed?

What’s up man if you don’t mind sharing approximately (3,35*) what’s your list number so we can gauge roughly how long it’ll take before they get to others.

yes, they go by the list numbers not the licenses. It would make sense for them to put in licensed drivers first but unfortunately thats not how they do it.

Does it make much of a difference if you come in the door with the CDL B License compared to the CDL B Permit only?

I recently got called in to take the Medical exam and fingerprints for the Mta Conductor. I no longer live in NYC and am unsure if taking the job is a good idea because of the possible commute. My question is whether you get to select a preferred borough to work after schoolcar or is it random placement?

What’s up Sharif, I’m certain someone will answer this question very soon. If yu don’t mind me asking approximately what was your list number?

As per the guidelines, if we can stay on-topic, it would be appreciated. If you're looking for experience, consider looking at this thread/topic.

In addition, just to add my two cents, if you do not have the School Bus "S" endorsement, and you live in Queens, there is a Coach Bus Company out of Nassau and Suffolk County which is also looking to hire drivers. For more information, send me a Private Message (PM) and we'll take it from there.

Awesome thanks @+Young+ will stick to the guidelines of the forum as well.

Plus it takes a few years between opening applications, getting them, setting up testing, taking testing, scoring testing, etc. Ive seen numerous train alerts near me saying "we are running as many trains as we can with the staff we have". They don't have time to wait years for testing to be done.

😳 didn’t know the work that goes into administering these exams. 🙏🏾 Do hope they roll out another T/O exam soon. Been waiting for years to get on a T/O list. Good luck to everyone though 🤘🏾

    Just got my letter 3xx.

That took forever. Wonder how long the hiring process will take now.

I'm a school bus driver so I already have my license and endorsements.

Any company hiring at the moment including the one your with? I’m Looking to gain experience on the road with CDL B before I get called for the interview.

Personal preference technically but, Money will be better.
Faster to top pay, for TO is 3 years opposed to CR which is 6 years.

Less opportunities you have to deal with public as TO. Also a funny one but I’d prefer the TO uniform over CR lol.

Plus I hate to say this but, it’s honestly true though some may deny it, you are respected more as a TO than a CR. And I see it everyday now. I personally don’t get why but I just see it 😕

And lastly if you want a supervisor role in the future like TSS, you have to be a TO for two years I believe.

Anyway good luck on the list they are hiring like crazy rn!

😂😂😂 dope reasoning. Congrats All the best to you and great success on the journey.

Anyone know when the next class is supposed to start? I just got the email for pre-employment processing for next Wednesday the 6th.

I just finished school car for conductor and I’m only a couple weeks in and def would prefer to be a TO lol

Congrats on getting in. Any particular reason why you would prefer Train Operator than Conductor?
Asking because I’m currently on the list for conductor and looking forward to applying to Train Operator once a new test date comes out.

    Good luck everyone!!

Hello friends and future MTA family. Took my Air Brake endorsement test today and successfully passed. I will try to obtain the CDL B license while taking lessons at a certified school before my list number (2,1**) is called for Exam 9618. I’m assuming that would make the transition easier while getting a foot in the door. Does anyone know the current list number that they’re up to? Greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

  16. Hello perspective transit family. Received a email and phone call today as regards to Exam 9618 list being established in a few weeks. Currently I have a CDL Permit B with passenger endorsement no Air brake as of yet. The permit expires in November, 2021.  Any help or advice as to if I will have to retake all endorsements including air brake and general knowledge for permit.

    thanks in advance
