Out of all the TA/OA depots (or boroughs in general), who typically receives the most shuttle work?

OA can work in the Brooklyn TA depots and vice versa. As a TA operator though, you can also be sent to Staten Island or TA Queens. Here’s the thing though:
If you’re towards the bottom of your class for seniority (let’s say the last 4) and Staten Island has 4 spots open and the rest of your class takes everything else, then guess where you’re going)
If you’re trying to avoid express, then definitely stay out of Staten Island. Only other TA depots that have express are Ulmer Park and Queens Village. Everywhere else is straight local. Driving express isn’t that bad though.
Them express dudes be parking at Quill
some do one trip, park the bus, swing for like 6 hours do one more trip and that’s their day.
must be nice

That's what's up Man! Congratulations. I hope to be in the same boat in a few months. What was the pay rate during training? Did you guys get paid every week or every other week? And from 10/27 to 11/21 start date... that was fairly quickly! Man i can't wait 😁
Thanks bro you definitely will
pay was 25.49 but I think it’s going up in a few months. it’s every 2 weeks for a pay period
do you have your cdl?

Hey what was the time frame from the time you got the 1st email to come to 180 to your start date in November? I'm from exam 9618 and I'm expecting to get contacted between March/April.
10/27 oct did drug test
11/9 email to do medical
11/15 did medical
11/21 class
You may be on the same timeline, according to zerega they’re pushing 80-100 people out per class cuz they need bus operators like crazy

If u cash in an Ava, is it your hourly * 8 hours OR is it your hourly * your run pay?
what if you’re extra list, how do u determine how much your Ava pays out?

Dispatchers in Staten Island make $95904 a year now
Is that top pay or starting pay?

Your first prevent accident is a freebie. You’ll go see the GS about it and they’ll schedule a day for you to go to Zerega for P&E. (Performance and Eval) You spend the day there discussing your accident with other ops and drive around for a bit. After that, you’re good.
Don’t sweat it. I had two accidents in the same week on probation.
Two preventable accidents will get you extended. Incidents are other events on your bus i.e. sick customer and those aren’t held against you.
Was told Thursday by the AGS that 2 accidents is termination
The packet the union gave me 3 days ago (my first day at the depot), said 3 accidents is termination.

Everyone who requested queens or Staten Island go their transfer yesterday when we did the GI day. This was day 10 for me.
everyone who didn’t request a transfer was forced to Michael J Quill. This would have been my 3rd choice if given a choice so I can’t really complain. I know the area well and have family who live along a few of these routes.
anyone here have experience working any of these MJQ routes? Apparently this depot is high seniority, I wonder why they had so many openings

The new flyer is pretty dope. The nova is kinda weird. Must take some getting used to. Both drive smooth though.
can anyone give any insight to any of the TA depots? Specifically the ones in Brooklyn like ENY, JGleason, and Flatbush and also the MABSTOA depot near 42nd street

Ok 👌🏿 gotcha that’s more than I expected 80 students in a class that’s a big class lol
Yeah there’s like 80-85
at zerega they split us into 2 rooms for day 0 , about 40-45 heads per room
was reunited with some of the kids from day 0 today who trained at other depots while we did the nova bus training today. We go back to zerega tomorrow

Thanks bro appreciate it 🙏🏿 And That’s really cool and what part downtown or uptown? And me personally I never drove a transit bus before but I would imagine the worse Boro to drive in would be in queens/ Brooklyn
Union square - downtown. 34th street & lex. Down to 25th, make the left turn. Ride it down to e 6th street, do the loop right turn going back uptown, go up to 9th street, make the right and 2 lefts and right turn and go up to 34th and make a right to go back across 34th to lex. I believe that’s the day 7 route
Today was day 7 and my whole class of 4 passed. Going to Jamaica tomorrow

Exam 9604
I was a reinsert so I can’t tell u exactly where the list is based off my number. 2 guys I’m training with are from the last exam before this one. I’ll ask the 4th person I’m training with her number tomorrow.
there are people with list numbers in the 2000s in this training class though.

I don’t know what list number they’re up to. I do know there’s quite a few people from the previous test who are going thru the process now though. A lot of 7612 people
I saw a girl with a list number in the 2000s from this list though.
tomorrow is day 7! Very excited. We all did well today. There was a tricky light that almost caught us up around union square, the countdown for the pedestrians wasn’t on the right hand side, only on the left, we all almost ran the yellow but didn’t.
the tricky part about Manhattan isn’t the car traffic but the bikes and the people. A lot of people in Manhattan view their bike ride as more important than being safe around a bus. They’ll squeeze thru the smallest spaces

Today was day 5. Highway driving and we were in upper Manhattan,
First day where I had a perfect sheet
whole class of 4 is doing well so far, instructor is a great one.
At this point, I probably already read the bus book about 3-4 times completely, it’s helpful for sure , I seem to catch new things each time I read it.
@young YouTube channel has been a great help as well

Takes a little getting used to but you will get the hang of it. Make sure you are not just looking ahead, watch those mirrors and especially your rear wheels in the right side mirror!
Definitely felt more comfortable days 2 & 3 as far as the spacing.
I kind of still have some trouble with my right side mirror though. I know this is wrong but I usually complete turns using my convex mirrors simply because by the time I'm picking up the curb in my r/s mirror, I'm already clearing it or I'm already making the adjustment based off what I see in the convex and don't really use the r/s as I should. This hasn't been a problem at all on turns except today when I almost clipped a double parked car because I kept turning even though I didn't find it's rear corner in either of my mirrors.
Another issue I have is my acute turns. I'm either not getting wide enough setting up the turns which messes me up clearing the back, or I'm not turning quick enough and end up having to get backed up. He gave me 2 turns back to back and both scenarios happened. I lost composure and he knew it cuz I was so mad at myself lol
I feel more comfortable with the bus than I anticipated I would be this early into training and I get hard on myself for mistakes because I don't think I should be making these mistakes.

Drove a lil day 1, biggest issue was keeping 4 feet of space from the car to my left. I forget this is a big ass bus lol

Need to get some boots for training, any recommendations?
nothing too pricey hopefully as I assume they’ll be giving me work boots when/if I pass training.

Hi Congratulations and good luck at Zerega 10 day
I just wanted to ask you what did they say about the covid vaccine requirement ?
Thanks
You have to be completely vaxed.
their definition of that is you had your required 1 or 2 shots and 10 days has passed.
if that’s not the case they pulled you off the line and told you to come back when you were. Happened to 2 ppl I saw

Lmao I feel you . Wait so if we have our CDL class C and A permit -we don't have to do the pre- trip inspection for the Bus for the Class B license with DMV .
Believe you need higher than a C bro, you'd need a B at least with P endorsement and no n2 restriction.
