I Was Called Today To Come In On Friday To Start The Pre-Employment Process & One Of The Requirements Is A License, Will I Be Able To Still Continue With The Process If I Am Able To Get My License Quickly ?

A Driver's License is not required for this conductor position. If you have a Non-Driver's ID that is fine and acceptable.

Completely forgot I took this exam and just received the letter for pre-employment. Someone mentioned that top pay is 35/h? I currently make more than that and just weighing options for future growth. Does anyone know max pay for IT positions in MTA?

Data Points: I forgot what position I was on the list, so sorry about that. I may have posted that earlier on this thread.

You can check any current open IT positions with the MTA here. These (all, I believe) positions do not require an exam. You apply through the site with a resume and cover letter and any other qualifications they may list.

I'll be going in tomorrow for a drug test and was wondering if I'm offered employment,  is it OK to have out of state ID? I have family I can stay with until I can move my family back to NY but I currently have an out of state ID and was wondering if I had to change it to a NY state ID for employment.

You will not be offered employment right after the drug test.

In the Notice of Examination found here you'll see the residency requirement says that residency in NYC is not required for this position.

That will be a big problem. Life is short man, and we all need work/life balance. If I need to do brutal OT in order to make 100K then I must put everything on a scale. Yes, the pension is good, but with all the OT you barely have time to do nothing else than working and devoting your life to NYCT. What about time for you to invest in you and your family, how do you grow your money if all you got is time to work?
How does it work? How long does it take for you to apply for promotions or department transfers? How hard would it be for anyone to go from C/R to IT? Is there an exam to go directly into IT? Would it be less convenient as far as transferring pay scale for C/R to IT? Maybe someone has some input.

You can apply directly to IT positions with the MTA here

I finally received the canvassing email last night around 9:30pm, list #33**. The email said my appointment was for this upcoming Wednesday 9/29 at 12:00am, that has to be a mistake right? Lol, I mean if that’s the correct time I’m fine with that, but that just didn’t seem right, definitely going to email them back and call Monday morning to clarify that. I have a couple questions tho and any response would be greatly appreciated. The email says to acknowledge receipt of this email and in the link for the pre employment application it says to respond to the canvas, otherwise you’ll be removed from the list. Does filling out the pre employment application and sending it back cover all that, or am I supposed to also simply reply to them saying I received the canvas and I’m interested. Also, it said to send the application back to the email address provided in the canvas email, am I sending this paperwork back to the person who sent me the canvas email or this email that was provided at the bottom RTOEmploymentOperations@nyct.com. Sorry if these questions have been answered in here already, I might have missed it, but thanks again ahead of time for any help with this and congrats to anyone who recently made it through the process or is going to be doing it soon.

The 12am has to be a typo. You'll be coming in to do drug testing. Respond to the email saying that you have received it and yes you are interested in the position. The paperwork you will fill out and return to the email that it says to send it back to. You can fill the application out in Adobe or just print it out and fill it in with pen. You'll return it via email and you need to bring a print-out with you to the drug test.

Was able to get through to Olha she gave me the information to someone else whose apparently not in the office this week. She said that she doesn't handle hiring for this department and the other person isn't in the office. But she gave me pretty much an idea of what I needed to do just nothing specific because it's not her department as she said. Thank you for your help! :)

You're welcome. I hope it all works out and you get the job. 👍

Hey guys, I just received this text.

New York City Transit is considering you for a Train Operator position and invites to you our facility at 180 Livingston Street, 5th floor, Brooklyn NY, 1 1 2 0 1 on Thursday, September 23, 2021  at  3:30 PM for your pre-employment process. Please check your email and follow all instructions in order to prevent a delay in your processing and bring your completed application with you.

I haven’t received the email. Does this look right to you guys? Can someone please tell me what I should bring with me tomorrow? Also, do you guys think the MTA sent this message in error?? Thank you all! List #21xx

Are you on the list for Track Worker, exam number 8600 or Train Operator, exam number 7604?

Hey everyone, good news again. A member of supervision informed us that transit is in desperate needs of Train Operators and Conductors and will be having new induction classes  every month up till at least march

That is great news. I'm having issues getting a study. My insurance is not cooperating with helping me expedite an exam.

Sent an email to all of them tried calling the employment center several times today got no reply. I have a holiday next month and I can return to the states for about a month hopefully I can get everything sorted and hired within that time and then I can go back to pack up all my loose ends overseas and move back to the city.

    Try Olha Nyahay @ 347-643-8217 and Michelle Riverva-Vargas @ (347) 643-8218

Also, try Emma Marie Rivera (manager of employment operations and EVP/human resources)

    Emma.Rivera@nyct.com

As well as Patricia Lodge (image info below)1050653838_VPLodgeBusinessCard.jpg.7f16a

Hope you're able to get through. Keep trying.

Hi Everyone!!! So today I completed my 1st step. It was a smooth easy process. I arrived at 5:45am. Plenty of parking garages very close by. So there should be no parking issues for anyone. Once I handed in all of my paperwork the next step was to walk over to the lab and take the urine drug test. Once that was completed, I was told I could go home. I was only there from 6:30am and I walked out of the building before 8am.

I wish my drug testing day was that quick. I had an 8:15 time and I didn't leave the building until after 1:30.

So I’m a little upset because it turns out that I didn’t need to come down here at all today. They told me to wait for an email telling me to come in for the medical, and that the email I received was sent in error. Kind of sucks because I can only take so many days off from work.

    That's really really messed up.

  12. 30 minutes ago, STtoMTA said:

So it’s not the actual medical

Medical is part of pre-employment. You get called for drug testing first. Once you've passed that then you get called for medical. You're still not employed with them so it is all pre-employment. That is supposed to be how it goes unless they added a step in-between drug testing and medical.

Got an email today for 64x for the drug screening and the appointment is tomorrow. Is there any way I can defer the appointment? I'm still overseas I wish they gave more notice I would rush back to take the test.

    Try emailing these people:

    RTOEmploymentOperations@nyct.com
    Nayibel.Mejia-Burbano@nyct.com
    Michelle.Rivera-Vargas@nyct.com
    Olha.nyahay@nyct.com

Just to clarify guys drivers license is not required for train operator position a ID is enough and also tickets MUST be paid off to move on to the next steps in processing. Nothing can be pending. They make a big deal about this.

According to the Notice of Examination (here) for this TO exam a valid driver's license is required for the job.

Just got the email to come in for pre-employment on Monday! I know that the information is buried somewhere in this thread, but what should I expect?

Also in conjunction with what @STtoMTA said, be sure to bring your state ID (driver's, non-driver's or other qualifying ID), social security card, birth certificate or passport, and HS diploma or college degree. Everything must be an original document.

If you have tickets or violations that you have pending or haven't paid off they will tell you to pay them there on the spot or they will dismiss you and you will not take the drug test.

In the employment section of the paperwork they sent you, be sure to put the reason why you left that job. Indicate if you Resigned, were Terminated or Laid-off. They will ask you to write that in if you do not already have it there.

If you have been drug tested in the previous 2 years (I believe) for a job they will ask you to sign a release for the results of that drug test.

Make sure you have to urinate once you get called. If you do not have to urinate once you are called, or you do not produce enough urine, you will be given water every 30-60 minutes for up to 3 hours before you can try again. I hope my memory is correct on 3 hours. It's something like that. Just make sure you gotta go either by waiting or drinking water.

Bring something to drink because the machine is notorious for not working (what I was told when I took the drug test). You will be there for a long time so if you need a snack bring one.

great to see all the positivity and help we do to eachother....would anyone know what # they up to on the list.. im in the 79xx hoping i get called

Not sure the exact number but my list number is 304x and I did medical on 9/9. I'm on hold but others who passed started class on 9/13. My guess is they are probably in to the upper 3000's as far as canvassing is concerned. At 79xx you've got a bit to wait. If the hiring keeps going at the same clip then maybe they will get to you some time next year? 🤷‍♂️

Here's a word of advice  if you are diagnosed as Mild you wont have any issues...

Anything more than that say hello to being checked every six months for the rest of your time down here to see if you are in compliance.

Get it done fast they really need bodies especially in the B Div... Good Luck.

Thanks. I'm okay with being checked whenever if I do have more than a mild case.

B Division was going to be my choice if I made the 9/13 class. That decision was the only thing that was really making me nervous. I am so far from the Bronx.

  19. Placed on medical hold like I assumed. 100 days to get off of it but they said get it done yesterday. Already have a doctor's appointment but it's a week away. 😖

They seem to need conductors bad. There were some retired TSS's there coming in to get back to work doing schoolcar training.

  20. Hello everyone,

Been reading these forums for years but never made an account. I'm on the list for conductor. Took the drug test on 9/3 and just got a call from Ms. Olha to come in to do medical tomorrow. They have a class starting Monday 9/13 that they are trying to fill. I am part of the fat neck/hairy chest gang lol so I'm probably going straight to medical hold and having to do a sleep apnea test. My list number is 304x for those who might want to know. I do not know what list number they are up to but there were lots of conductor hopefuls doing drug testing on 9/3. Just keep watch for emails and calls if your list number is in the 3000s and low 4000s I guess. And lose weight now if you need to. Don't be like me on pins and needles about tomorrow lol.
