Finally got a invite for this position ! Hoping to finally get my foot in the door. Anyone else received a invite for this recently ?

Would you say it’s worth applying for ? how long does someone have to wait to transfer into station agent or any other position? And after how long in the cleaners position can you join the TCP program

Is anyone thinking of or have applied for this? It’s free to apply to take the exam and a good opportunity to get your foot in the door in the MTA. What are your thoughts? Is anyone in here currently in this position? if so, what are your experiences? how long did it take to advance into another position and also are there training opportunities offered from the union to advance into titles such as station agent or train operator without waiting for an exam?

Congrats! I knew you would hear something sooner than later . Try looking around in the forum , if sure I saw a thread discussing the material for Assistant Conductor. when they emailed you did it go to your spam folder? I’m still waiting , still remaining optimistic. Keep us posted .

Sheesh , hoping to be invited for an exam soon , I’m actually shocked I didn’t get an invite yet , I’ve applied 3x already , plus I have commercial cleaning experience with CUNY. I actually have a question for you. Does metro north do credit checks for pre employment ? Also, would stating that you were terminated from previous jobs on the background check prevent your from getting a interview ?

Just keep trying. Before I was called back for the Coach cleaner exam im last year, I was applying for jobs in the site for over 3 years with no luck , so it’s really a waiting game. All we can really do is apply and remain hopeful

That’s interesting , I thought MNR was the better paying company? I remember both companies posted a ticket agent ,customer service type job , and from what I remember MNR was offering a little more per hour . However I do realize for positions such as conductor , or engineer LIRR does pay a little more , their Foreman’s seem to get a little more than MNR as well. Both good paying nevertheless.

When you applied did you have application have a “passed pre screening” status? And wow almost 4 years with the company, can you share your experience so far? And also did you hear any news of any upcoming exams for the position?

If you remember, how long did it take from when you applied for them to invite you to the exam.

I believe I read you have to be in your current craft for a year before you can transfer out . Maybe @Thinklikeamangocan answer this better

Fingers crossed !! This is my third time applying for this position so I hope 3rd times the charm. Plus I heard they should be getting another raise soon as mentioned by another user . Seems like a good time to get in. Hopefully we get an invite at least

Hey everyone I was wondering , has anyone actually ever got invited to an exam for a job you applied for with a “passed prescreening “ application status? I’m asking because I recently applied for Attendant Terminal Appearance and I saw I passed the prescreening. However , I also applied for Coach Cleaner back in August and took the test in December and my application was and still is “Applied” .

That’s sounds great . I know they pay more than the coach cleaner position . I was a custodian before at a college so I have that experience , hopefully they consider it and don’t over look me this time. I’ve applied for the Attendant position about 3 times already lol what is the scheduling like? 7-3, 8-4 , 3-11 etc? I also noticed from the posting they put out in August2021 ; the new posting they put out recently the starting pay is higher. Did you guys recently get a raise ?

Do you have information on when the next class might be, and also do you have to possess commercial cleaning experience? And finally , what is your day to day like, would you say it’s a tedious job, how close do you work with other co workers and is the money good? I think this all the time on my daily commute , the people I see working for the MTA , like what am I doing wrong . I know how you feel though, I’m desperately in need for a career change and was hoping to get in the MTA , I never imagined it would be this hard..Don’t get discourage we’re in this together, just keep applying. We will eventually hear back from something.

Yea, I just looked smh ,mines changed also to “Customer Service Stat Ambassador” , and it’s based in Westchester, which is kinda far for me anyway.. either way I’m going to wait and see what happens . This is the second job I applied for and realized the position title changed from what it was previously.

Nope , both applications just say “ applied” , but my coach cleaner application also said applied, and they invited me for the exam; so idk how reliable looking at screening results are. Also, I have a ton of applications that say passed pre screening and I’ve never heard back from them.
