  1. Hey guys so I have a pre-employment screening scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday, August the 1st at 6:30 AM. I only received an invitation to this employee prescreening last week via email, and a few phone calls from an automated message machine stating that I had been invited to come in to start pre-employment screening. I however cannot make it tomorrow. When I received the invitation for prescreening, it was too short of notice to just be able to take off like that from my current job. So I called the # the provided in email to reschedule at least 3x but still no phone call was returned, I am worried because the number I called was for the High-pressure plant tender line, even though I am calling the number MTA provided in the email! so is the right department even getting my message??. My question is to the people who had to reschedule their pre-screening appointment, does this actually hinder your chances of employment? I say this because in a way you are delaying the start of your employment with the MTA, but I have a job right now that I have been committed to. I lost hope after I took the test and I didn't hear back from them after 5 years from taking the test but they called me back 8 years later lol not complaining though. But I also cannot just drop all the responsibilities I have at my current job to go and start this pre-screening for employment for the MTA, although I would love to and I am so frickin happy they did finally reach out when I thought they never were going to. So for the people who had to reschedule their pre-screening appointments. How long did it take before they actually called you back just to reschedule? and how far out/close are they willing to reschedule too?
  2. Any other recommendations? I just received a pre-employment screening and though it doesn't guarantee me the job, it's an opportunity I can't let slip by. I've spent my whole life trying to get into unions, but it never worked out. Everyone I talked to said they had family connections. So, the fact that I have a chance to become a Train Operator with the MTA is a blessing. I want to do everything I can to secure the job because I know it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I'm ready for the lifestyle that comes with being a train conductor, including long nights and working holidays. I am prepared for it all. I just need to make this work, with God's help. I cant let this opportunity slip from my hands I will do everything that I can in MY power to get the job, and also pray to the Man up Above.
  3. who is the moderator? I tried to edit the comment but it does not give me a way to edit smh ahh man
  4. Oh wow, you had to do the pre-employment process three times? That sounds exhausting. I was excited when I received the pre-employment email, as I thought it would be a foot in the door. However, hearing about your experience makes me a bit worried. Normally, employers conduct pre-employment and drug test and then either hire you or let you know if you didn't get the job within a couple of weeks. It seems like the MTA hiring process could be quite time-consuming, and even then, you don't know for sure if you have the job. I always thought that after the pre-employment screening and drug test, if everything was okay, they would offer you a job right away and give you a start date within a month. But it doesn't seem like that's the case. Why does it feel like it takes so long to get hired?
  5. Thank you so much for providing me with this information. I appreciate it greatly. I plan to call the number you gave me today and ask for Ms. Olha. As for rescheduling my appointment, I agree that it's best to reschedule a month from now. However, I have a pre-employment screening scheduled for next week on 8/1/23 that I cannot make. I tried to call and reschedule, but I haven't received a call back yet. I'm worried that if I don't show up for the appointment, they will think I'm not interested, which is not the case. Can you please let me know what to do in this situation? Also, I heard that rescheduling can take a long time, and I'm worried about waiting for months before hearing back from them. If they do call me back, will they give me a specific date and time, or can I choose? I really want to work for the MTA and be a hard-working employee. It would mean the world to me. I see so many people who are happily working for successful unions, jobs, and government jobs, and it gives me hope that I can be a part of a great organization like the MTA. BTW my list # is My List number is 69**
  6. Hello, I took train Conductor #7604 back in 2016, and I honestly lost hope I got a letter in the mail like in 2017 telling me my placement and score on the test and that they would call me within the year, but never got that call up until today 07/26/2023, 8 years LATER, which I am definitely not complaining about, it's just funny how I was randomly called 8 years later and I am so thankful. Now here is my dilemma, They schedule me to come in for Tuesday 08/01/2023 to start the pre-employment process, However, I work full-time Monday - Friday Full time, and they literally schedule me to come in for pre-employment next week, again not complain I am so thankful but that does not give me much time to plan in accordance with my job so I can take the day off. It stated in the email I received that I am allowed to reschedule this appointment, which I was so happy about. I received an appointment date for the pre-employment process for Train Operator-Exam 7604, which is scheduled for Tuesday, 08/01/2023, at 6:30 am. While I am thrilled about the opportunity, will be unable to attend on that specific date and time due to a prior commitment (my current job) To reschedule the pre-employment exam, I diligently followed the instructions provided in the email and attempted to reach out via the contact number 347-643-8213. However, this number directed me to the voicemail line of the High-Pressure Plant tender exam, # 9033, instead of the Train Operator exam 7604. Despite this, I left my information and request for a callback, but I'm unsure if this was the correct number to reach the relevant department. As I am truly enthusiastic about the Train Operator position, I also attempted to call the alternate number 347-643-7413 to verify if it was the right contact. Unfortunately, my efforts were in vain as there was no response or voicemail available. Considering the importance of this opportunity, I am reaching out to anyone on this thread and seeking your guidance. I want to ensure my message reaches the correct person and that I can reschedule the pre-employment exam at the earliest convenience. Could someone please advise on the appropriate steps I should take? I am eager to start the pre-employment process Also now, my 2nd dilemma. I have a medical marijuana card and have been smoking for about a month although it is legal in NY state, not Federal. I have been smoking for the past month so if I were to take this pre-employment screening which is scheduled for next week, I would probably end up failing the drug test for marijuana and only marijuana. So that is my concern if you test positive for marijuana does that automatically disqualify you? Do they drug test you the same day you do your pre-employment screening? That is one of the reasons why i would also like to reschedule not only because I work during that day and conflicts with my work schedule but so I can detox and clean my body. Again it's only marijuana that I have done, I do not even drink liquor or beer. Last question, my license was suspended for about a year, and it is no longer under suspension well I guess it is. because I still have to pay about 3k in tickets to get my license back once I do that I am set. I plan on paying my tickets at the end of this month but would having a suspended license disqualify you, or not even be suspended but Just need to pay off tickets? I understand that it may seem like I have a lot going on, but I want to assure you that I am a responsible individual. I just want to emphasize that I took the Train conductor exam in 2016 and didn't expect to be called back, especially not 8 years later when I find myself in the midst of other responsibilities. If they had called me back earlier, I would have had my affairs in order and been ready to start the pre-employment screening. However, life happened in between those years, and now I am determined to pursue this opportunity.
