  1. Trainz 2004/6 and Trainz classics can be found at http://www.auran.com/shop. I advise Trainz 2006, But Trainz classica is a bit better(includes metro north M7 and MNRR Harlem line).

Thanks, but as someone who's just learning the difference between these trains, it's

kind of confusing for you to say that you advise '06, but classics is better.:D

  2. MTA Casleton Hawk of TransitStuff

8401 - 8565 RTS's will be Yukon bound my Mid May. All Yukons current fleet expect for the dozen or so D.O.T. ID # Buses for the S89 will be sent to other garages and 8401-8565 will come into Yukon until the O7 delivery at which time buses # 8401-8565 will be scrapped. Not sure about Castleton but I'll be asking around when I go in on Tuesday.

This is what he posed on one of my threads today. So it looks as if Staten Island will definitely be getting some O7's! Here's where most of these buses currently are housed. I wonder if this means MAN, FLA, and GA will be getting NG O7's?

  3. Almost every maker is getting out of the HF market. LF is the future of buses. Bee-Line has their last batch of HF for local buses. They want LFs to replace the 400series Orion V, which are increasingly showing up on short haul southern routes now (2, 42, 25, 30, etc). Orion just needs to do something about the shocks and air bellows, for NYCTA. Bee-Lines Orion VII rides unbelievably smooth. NYCTAs Orion VII ride like crap, due to the abuse they take on the streets of NYC. I drove the CNGs on the Bx6, and I might have gotten 2 that rode smooth. Most go bang in the craters of NYC. Also the cheap rims NYCTA puts on them buses needs to change. Hopefully these problems were addressed and taken care of in the new model.

NYCT needs to go back to the Alcoa rims, but they don't want to pay for them.

Before I leave out of there, I would love to drive a new bus. The newest thing I ever drove was the Orion VII CNG, and that was out of West Farms. If KB gets the NG buses (I'm hoping they do), I think alot of artic lines would open up. The senior cats will want to drive the new buses. The Orion VII does have the most comfortable area for the driver. Steering wheel isn't massive, seats goes back far, and has a huge drivers storage bin. But as the depot union chair said, "800 new buses are due to come in, and most likely they will go to Manhattan, while we get their crap". I'm hoping to pick on a 40ft line Thursday. Since the KB RTS's are gone, I don't mind going to a 40ft line now. .25 cents extra per hour ain't worth, 120 people and a 60ft bus.

You don't mind going back to a 40ft line now that the RTS's are gone??? Whats that supposed to mean huh? Don't get jacked up talkin bout my bus now! :D

MORE CRAP!!!! I do not care what orion says their 07's are the worst bus they ever bult, The 05 are way better and they wan to stop making those buses !!!! Orion is going to loose big money!!!!!

Most HF's are built better than LF's. But it looks as if the NG O7's may be a little better built than the 1st gen O7's. As far as money goes, the only way they will lose it is if they keep the O5 in production. HF sales are slim to none. O7 sales are strong, not to mention the hybrids cost almost twice what a diesel bus does. They currently have $600 million worth of hybrid orders. That doesn't even include the CNG or diesel buses on order!

  4. I have come to save you all!!!!!

Nah, I'm hust kidding. But there are more Elevated splines and stations. You can find them here:

    http://trainzproroutes.com/downloads/index.php?act=view&id=832

This is what they look like:

.....er.....i'm new to this, so how do you post images?

To post pics, you have to reply to a thread or start one. On the top of the message menu, click on the yellow icon with the image of mountains and the sun, and enter the url of the image. It has to be online, or stored in an image gallery like Photobucket, Imageshack, Flickr ect.

  5. So here is an update, although not too informative. (MTA) Brass is up in Oriskany at the Orion plant doing the audit testing on Bus #1. At this time it looks as everything is on track for first delivery in August. The second bus has started pre-assembly, and is due to be complete April 28th. Still no word on which depots they are going to, but rumor has it the #'s will be 1110-1854. For MTAB, the numbers will be 3784-3887.

  6. It just doesn't make sense. They don't really need new Artics, what they need is something to replace those God forsaken ex-CAS buses. I'm tired of sitting on the Bx3 or Bx10 and listening to screeching fanbelts, Even the 8800's were better then what they have now. When will we know who gets what?

Hopefully I will know something soon! The suspense is killing me. Tomorrow I will be calling my guy at Orion for a monthly update on the progress of the buses. I don't see why KB wont be getting at least some O7's, but it doesn't look like they are 1st on the list. I bet if KB does get more 40 footers anytime soon they will be hand-me-downs. But I do agree that KB needs new buses BAD!!!!

  7. 1294 was built with TTC specs. however 1295 was built with MTA specs.

Sort of... It was built to TTC specs, then modified to MTA specs. The only difference I think will be on MTA's buses is the driver floor heat vent.

  8. NYC already tested this model, before it was sent back to Orion. They use these terms (approve), but fact is these buses are here to stay. This will be the future of MTA.

Yeah, but it has different features from the demo buses, as it was built to TTC specs, so they have to make sure it's up to (MTA) standards.

  9. The first unit on 3/10?, thats pretty fast. Hopefully this bus can be a better improvement from the HEV's.

Yeah, but it won't be going to MTA until it's approved. Hopefully and supposedly they are to be much better that the current O7's. They should start arriving in the first of August.

my one wish for these buses.....

AUTOMATED ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEXT STOP DISPLAYS PLEASE!!

Just like how long island bus has their Orion V CNG buses equipped with them, along with some D60HF Buses on the M15 and other lines.

That would be nice! Detroit had those like 5 years ago! I remember they were testing them out of Michael J. Qull, but I don't know what happened.

  10. I was just thinking the same thing when I read your post. It's really interesting to hear that since we don't tend to hear that often.

Yes that is torque for days.

    LMAO! And to think the RTS's, O5's, and C40's only average 200-240hp, and 900 ft-lbs torque. The Artics are about 250-260hp w/ 1100 ft-lbs

  11. So whats so special about the O7 NG? Well actually, a whole lot more than looks! The NG O7's will have many improvements over the 1st Gen O7's. With the eminent discontinuation of the O5, Daimler has invested heavily in the new bus, which is quite different from the ones currently rolling. Among the new features, drivers will no longer have to worry about cold feet, as the NG' have a new floor heat vent, and an added recirculated air feature, which will heat buses much faster after a layover. The BAE HybriDrive System has also been revised. The new system, which is mated to the 5.9L 6-cyl Cummins ISL C8.3G ISB, will produce 40 more horses, to top out at 330HP, and 2,700 ft-lbs of low end torque. The engine fan has also been improved to reduce the chances of overheating. The acceleration will be quicker, and smoother, no roll-back on hills, and will be the lowest polluting commercial bus in production.

The Hawker Siddeley lead acid batteries of the 1st Gen O7's will be dropped for new A123 Systems Lithium Ion batteries. These batteries are of lighter weight, last longer, and will aid in significant cost reductions. They will improve the fuel economy by 10-15% over the current rolling stock, which is up to 40% better than standard diesel buses. The buses will have 40% lower maintenance costs, and are 24% cheaper to operate than current O7's, with more than 21,000 gallons of fuel saved over the life of each bus! Life= 12yr/500,000 mi. No new driver training is needed.

The first bus built to MTA specs is currently in production, and will roll off the assembly line on March 10, 2008. The next day, Daimler will begin what they call "100% Configuration Audit." This is the process of which the entire bus will be inspected from bumper to bumper. MTA will also assist in this process, to ensure the bus is to specs. Upon completion, bus #2 will roll off the line on May 5, followed by #3 on May 26, #'s 4 & 5 on June 16, and so on throught September, when they will ramp up production to 6 busses per day.

At this time, numbers and depots have yet to be assigned, but as soon as they are, I will be notified. At this time, Orion believes they will receive the assignments by the end of July, when the 1st 14 buses will be complete. By that time, bus 1292 will most likely have been returned to Orion, as it is not built to MTA specs.
