  1. Julio is just saying that because he would have saved those photos and made those HIS desktop background... You computer guys are all pervs... I remember when I was 14 I had a document on my computer that had some of the "secrets" of errm...how to treat a lady right...and I remember having a computer problem, getting it back, and guess what was in "recent documents"...IT guys forgot to cover their tracks...
  2. is DD still coming up this Saturday? JH mentioned he spoke with DD at the ERA meeting and the charter wasn't going to happen since those guys would come up another day...was wondering because you could take your road test if you let me or JH know by Fri and word can get to George. Plus I've got to qualify on 629 still so it could be a day for ops which would be nice...haven't had handle time in a couple weeks anyway...

  3. sounds good...i'm there. I passed the word along to JH via email tonight too and filled DD in.

I'll be up both 9/5 and 9/6 (or at least will try to be). The other JH will be piloting the cars. "I may not do the same thing both days" PM me if you dont get what i mean.

  4. Ah gotcha...should've taken the test back in Dec...
  5. Thought you wanted to work track, not RTO Div C
  6. its not a question of "like" with me you know that...its an inside joke b/w me and Matt but in short we don't find anything particularly interesting about them...they're just big cars

  7. Heh. Yeah I've heard the stories. If it was a fuse or a circuit breaker and you called it in and the RCI had to come down, you were gonna hear it for a while if it was something that could have been easily fixed. Amazing how things can change so much in just a few decades.
  8. i got somethin ive been meaning to send you for a while but i dont remember your email address...PM me it?

  9. The process of putting together a replacement resistor grid for 1689 has begun...

    You're coming Sunday right?

  10. As I've said before the best way to get a vest unless you are an employee is to know someone. It's a highly sought after item by some who have devious intentions which is why we call them "the foamer's holy grail". MTA does not want unauthorized people to have them for exactly that reason. They're not "give aways" they're meant for the employees. If you were to get one it'd be a favor from someone you know, nothing more. The tour you won't need a vest because there will be plenty of people with vests leading you around, plus you won't be going anywhere you'd need a vest, like a yard lead or the roadbed. You will tour the shops, and likely see some of the equipment headed for the reef. Likewise when there's a tour train movements are kept to a minimum except what is absolutely necessary and the group will not be near that.
  11. Hasn't been wired yet AFAIK, I didn't take a full walk back there though so not 100% positive. Even if it gets wired though we still have to build a ventilation shaft and poke a vent in the wall to outside so that the MA gets cool, sawdust free air in the intake
  12. haha "just the motor"

-2 motors need to be swapped out with the ones we've rebuilt, then placed under the car on the existing truck. Shoe beams need to be reattached once this is done.

-Jacks and power supply for the jacks have to be set up for this to happen.

-Air brake parts need to be repaired/rebuilt

    -Resistor grid needs replacement

-600V fuse will probably need to be replaced as well but that's relatively minor.

-Car needs to be inspected after that to make sure nothing else went wrong.

    Then it'll run! :P

  13. Heh...you'll be heavily supervised, don't worry you won't get anything out of your comfort level and remember you can always ask questions too. On a side note the center casting on the Broad st. truck has now been modified to take the Arnine so it can be a shop truck for the Arnine when we do the motor swap.
  14. Come on up again in June and stick around for shop work
  15. I know. I am well aware of that trip and tour. Like I said before Vest ain't gonna happen unless you know someone, just stating facts. Just think if the tour of 207yd is part of the nostalgia ride, you're not going to be the only one going there!
  16. You are not going to get one at a fan trip. In fact if there is one place you are virtually assured NOT to get one it's a fan trip. The trips are a lot of fun, but along with the regular visitors, railfans, museum members, and curious people who just want to ride an old train for a day, they also bring out "the foam line" - so the reasons for this should be pretty obvious. Best way to get one is to know someone...
  17. haha that's funny...by the way i'll be going up on Saturday, let me know if you're interested but I will be operating during the day

  18. initials DR?

  19. Depends...you can suggest things you want to do, but in general there are always pressing needs and the guys who are there all the time like Ted or Jeff know what's going on and what needs to be done.

As for the R17, the paint on that car actually isn't so bad. I'm going to be floating the idea of some paint work on the interior of the Lo V at some point and the R9 will probably need it as well

  20. haha yeah you got that right, sounds like a good idea
