Good. Now start taking back the state buses from there.

Nj transit is a circus full of clowns 🤡 installing the clever device will do nothing. Academy will still use state buses on charters and miss trips. They can still lie on the reports on why they missed trips. Is Academy running NJT?

Just like how the 320 also isn't a straight run (even though it should be, but that's above my pay grade.)
I'm still confused as to how the 308 operates. If Meadowlands does it, does one go down to the park and stay there until it closes, or do they do a trip on the 319, 139 or 307?
No one stays down there. You can thank your fellow operators for screwing that up. The 308 operates on demand. If they have to send 30 buses down they will. All trips out of NY pull a trip down and dhd back to their respective garage. At night buses dhd down to six flags pull it to Newark and New York then dhd back to respective garage.
Howell puts there 308s with 137/139/319. The 307 no longer exists.
There are 3 full runs on the 320. The rest are all combos and trippers.

Any 63,64,68 that that goes into weehawkin and jersey city are supposed to do a 126 into New York. They are not on the paddles but pre pandemic you needed anything you could get.
Howell does the 128 because Oradell is all express in the morning. Meadowlands is tight because they are doing the reverse rush hour on the 166 locals starting at North Marginal and the expresses starting in Leonia, and Bergenfield.
Most 137/139(130,131,132,133,135,136,138) all deadhead to the their assigned lots so it’s easy to have Howell do inbound 128s and 321s. If you look at the PM 128s/321s it’s only a few Howell out there, and it’s mainly Meadowlands in the PM 128 and Fairview 321s. Hindsight it literally makes no sense to have Howell do the 128 and 321 but when you figure out why then it makes sense. Then even help out on the 165 now. I’m not sure if they are still helping on the 112,113,114,116.

It's already picked up. Lots of people taking the 355, but are also taking the 161 to Road A and walking to the mall.
Because it’s cheaper. I would never pay 9$ for a ride that cost 5 something.

That would be great, but no switches exist for this purpose. This is why trains (to Utica/New Lots) forced to the local track after Nevins Street stop at Nostrand and Kingston Avenues. Similarly, trains to Manhattan are stuck on the express track if they run express after Utica Avenue, only being able to return to their normal alignment before entering Nevins Street.
Oh yeah that’s right rogers jct only has the switch to the express and local(from the express track)and then to flatbush.

Running more trains costs "too much money." This way's cheaper.
They should at least run the on it's normal headways tho. Running it on 12 minute headways shouldn't interfere with train service at 149th on paper, even if they're both coming in on the middle track.
Those 5s are literally 4 trains. However you can’t have all those 5s as 4s(hell at 24min I think it was only four 5 trains running) it would cause a mess at Atlantic Av. I said the same thing, on paper it looks good to suspend the 5. Those crews working the 5 were 4 crews while 5 crews were displaced to work the 2 to crown heights, and to relay at Utica. Those people had to deal with 17min headways at points throughout the day.
The mismanagement of having 2s dump on the 3 track holding up 3s, when you could have sent the 2 express from Franklin to Utica to dump on the 4 track then go into the relay. I didn’t see any track work on the express between Utica and Franklin. Nostrand and Kingston folk are used to terrible 3 train service, they don’t get double service with the 4 so why do it with the 2.

Why exactly does Fairview need more MCI cruisers, if ANY cruisers? That depot should strictly be NABI's and New Flyers, having MCI's on any Fairview line will just have dwell times go through the roof.
I always said the same thing. Especially having mcis on the 159 is utterly terrible. Another thing to mention Fairview should be an exact fare garage.

Slap in the wrist. Now that they have agreed to be tracked, I'll give it a few years and if they want to, take back the Hudson County bus routes at least.
But the question is are they going to put the clever device on the state owned mcis? The 8500s-8600s and 8900s had the clever device.

The signal blocks are probably borderline at best. It would likely have been a complex and really slow operation.
My GF is t/o on the 1 & 2. One day she had to take a lite train from 241-Liv YD. They made her take 7 Av Loc(didn’t want her in front or behind the 3 on the exp) to 14th but had to call back at TSQ, then told her to take the loc to 14th then exp to chambers. From what I was told they want to keep those switches free so it doesn’t bother the night 3 shuttle if in case those switches malfunction.
Which leads me to believe why most GOs the 2/3 is local from Chambers to 96 or 14th to 96. The less switching the better. Even if work isn’t being done south of 34th it’s just easier to keep local.

One thing I don’t get is how did Academy benefit from miss-reporting trips on the 119 if they didn’t get funding to operate it, and operated solely off the farebox revenue?
They still have to report the trips because it’s a NJT owned line. The issue is Academy cuts trips and prioritize charters. There’s a reason they never put clever devices(and they were supposed to)in the new mcis; the commuters can’t track them so if the bus don’t show they get on a 63,64,67 or 139. The other issue is not funding for operating costs; it’s again academy making operators available for charters. Academy does not care about there transit lines because the bulk of their money comes from charters with the sport teams contracts.

I thought it was because Fairview/Oradell/Market are closing and being replaced by the super garage?
That garage is not opening anytime soon.

What's the reasoning for Wayne getting more of the new buses as opposed to Oradell/Market St/Fairview?
To get rid of the 9000s and 7100s, which could possibly dump to market street.

I actually did Greyhound training back in early 2000s. There was a whole week dedicated to nighttime driving. I don’t know if the Southern Division has any 24 hour lines, but the 190 is out of Wayne Garage is good for said training
Our 551, 552, 553, 554, 559 are the 24hr lines in the south. They need to train these operators at night. But again njt is stuck in the stone ages. 21 days mon-Fri is not enough for these kids that are coming in with no driving experience.
what I mean by rushing, they are passing them even if the instructor knows they are not fully qualified for the sake of getting work filled. They don’t even properly go over setting up mirrors.

Isn’t that like the 4th incident in the southern division for the last 6 months?
Washington Twp. This is the issue when you cut training time. Can’t blame no one but njt. Washington Twp is short 50 operators.
I’ve done the 551 and that stretch from exit 17 to exit 28 going west and east is pure tunnel vision. If your not used to working nights do not even think about working the 551 or the 319.

Now all the operators have to report to work in a high Covid transmissible environment; with operators POSITIVE.

No, they are just testing it out. Newton Av is still getting 8 XE40s. They want Newton Av to be an all electric garage. Being 2022 is the last of the D4500CT, it make sense to test the LE at Newton Av with the chargers. If NJT pushes an LE Newton Av and Wayne would get them first.

Or the 161. I’d get a lot of people getting off at “Road A”
Exactly. That’s how you know these lines need a full rework. A lot of these people are walking or riding bikes great distances just to get the bus, and njt just sits around like that is normal now and it’s not.

Actually I've seen the 355 carry a lot of people of weekends. I don't know what happened with the 356, but they say it's "suspended" but some drivers are telling me it's running unofficially.
It’s not even running unofficially. It’s blacked out on the flats at meadowlands and Ironbound. It’s suspended.
