  1. Transit changed their mind again...all buses will complete their (Sunday) run as scheduled.

That was the plan all along; they just needed folks to get to where they were going quickly to evacuate the streets.

Now, of course we were gonna complete our Sunday schedules since #1, what are we gonna do when we get back to the depot, right? #2, it gives the shifters enough time to park all buses coming into the depot at a slow pace rather all at once; trying to park the remainder of buses at 9pm would've been a madhouse.

I stayed at the depot after my run last night, so got a full 24 hour shift in, then found a way home.

  2. Its a switch on all buses (well the ones that have back doors) where the back doors will open on their own when you turn the handle to open the back doors.

Why do you think the SBS buses do it on their own...

Eh, that's somewhat correct, but actually when the handle is in front-and-rear door position (or just rear door), the back doors will only open automatically when the operator flips the touchbar bypass button, and must do so every time he wants to open those rear doors at will.

However, your scenario works on SBS buses. The LFSAs have a knob for SBS mode (which enables the flashing blue lights in front, and opens all doors automatically once handle is in the rear-and-front door position) and regular operation mode.

  3. Just a wild thought I had over the past few days, but has there ever been any consideration of an direct bus route from Brooklyn to Laguardia Airport? We already have the B15 and the A train connecting the borough to JFK, why not have a connection to LGA as well?

AFAIK, the only connection is via the F, G & R trains, then transfer to the Q33/47 buses.

I took a look at the Brooklyn bus map, and one possible line that may get some usage is the B48 to LGA via the Kosciuszko Bridge into Queens.

    Possible suggestions?

  4. The Flatbush stretch could use the service more. They have NOTHING except B41 non-LTD. This would probably draw people from that overcrowded line. Though adding the train station would probably help too.

The B41 has enough runs as it is. The only issue with the line is constant traffic congestion on Flatbush Avenue.

  5. Brooklyn:

    B3, B6, B8, B9, B11, B12, B15, B17, B25, B26, B35, B36, B38, B41, B42, B43, B44, B45, B46, B47 (once), B48, B49, B52, B60, B63, B65, B67, B68, B69, B82, B103

    Manhattan:

    M5, M7, M14, M15SBS, M34

    Queens:

    Q8, Q19, Q35, Q38

    Staten Island:

    S44 & S79

    Bronx:

    Bx22

  6. Caught the last B44 Limited of the night. Bus was 5181 and the operator drove fast like how a limited should feel like. :D

I know exactly who you're talking about - that's my boy. I saw him on the fuel line tonight as I was going home.

If you want a real LTD operator, you better hope you're on my bus one night. lol
