  1. Let the OMNY vending machine Installation begins... I'll start the list So now it is at the following stations: Fordham Bryant Park Time Square Reddit has it for Time Square
  2. Thank you for posting this. Thank god it's about time they install vending machines now. Now the MTA "should list" what stations has OMNY machine now. If not we can list what stations has OMNY vending machines.
  3. Yes wow if the MTA did time travel that would great. I miss the 7 express at 5AM. From what I read the PATH is doing similar like OMNY. https://www.nj.com/news/2023/06/path-promises-major-announcement-about-tap-and-go-fare-system.html PATH promises major announcement about tap-and-go fare system PATH officials teased there will be a major announcement next month about moving fare payment on the bistate rapid transit system to a tap-and-go system similar to the OMNY system used on NYC Transit buses and subways. “We’re going to have a significant announcement about the roll out next month,” said Rick Cotton, Port Authority executive director in response to NJ Advance Media questions after Thursday’s board meeting. In Nov. 2021, Port Authority commissioners approved a $99.4 million contract with Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. to complete the design and installation of the new contactless PATH fare payment system.
  4. I think the PATH will have it's own payment system and they are not doing OMNY but they are using Cubic that does OMNY and Metro Card system. The PATH are in a discussion with Cubic. As for the Bee Line and NICE Bus I think it will be in 2004-2005 because the OMNY readers are not even installed on the Bee Line and the NICE bus yet.
  5. I see. It should be soon because physical OMNY cards are is coming out for reduce fare in December when I spoke to OMNY CS so that means probably employee pass will come out.
  6. Hi Lawrence, Do you mean if they allow NYCT Transit passes OMNY instead of Metro Card? I haven't heard anything about Transit Passes OMNY yet. My cousin works in the MTA and doesn't a MTA Transit OMNY passes yet.
  7. Wonderful! then there are really working on it! OK then they are keeping their words and not "delaying it". That is shocker!
  8. Yes they always want to "test those station first" for some reason I guess more people. But other stations has lot of people as well too. It would be great if you were in charge because you would put the busiest station first and have plenty of feedback. Oh well I'll wait. I'll hang on to my Metro card until next year. They said by 2024 it would be fully implemented the OMNY machines. How long did they finished installing all the OMNY readers I forgot was it 1 year to complete the whole installation of the OMNY readers?
  9. Me too it always seems that Bronx and Manhattan get new things first then Queens and Brooklyn. They should be able to have disposable cards for single ride because they will make it comparable to the Metro Cards. I asked the OMNY rep if they are going to issue Monthly OMNY and they said the MTA "plans" to do that. I guess when it will be "fully implemented" with the OMNY machines then they will start doing the monthly
  10. I see. Oh that's why I didn't see it. Thanks I though it was "inside" the subway station where you pay the fares.
  11. I went to Atlantic Ave Barclay Center and I didn't see an OMNY machine. This must be very recent.
  12. The following OMNY machines will be installed on the 6 line like at these stations (From OP in Reddit): 86th st 14th st union sq Broadway Lafayette 51st st 33rd st Astor place
  13. Let the Fun being now....First OMNY machine being install in the Bronx! I was searching to see if the install the OMNY machines and YES the first OMNY machine is being installed at Fordham Rd. I read this in a Reddit forum. It is here https://www.reddit.com/r/nycrail/comments/16p1122/new_vending_machines/?sort=confidence Then I read and from a user post and they said "They are gonna do two on junction blvd but flushing doesn’t seem to be in the initial plan. Mainly in Manhattan Interesting considering they took out two of the giant Metrocard machines from Flushing. I thought it was going to be in the initial plan. Thanks for the update! Apparently the OP who posted in Reddit is a MTA worker so he has the list of what stations get installed. The OP said this Most of them are in the city and there are 2 in queens Now the fun begins and we can begin to make a list of OMNY machines of where it is installed just like the Metro Card readers. Also I have called OMNY CS and I asked them how much the OMNY card will cost on the Vending Machines if I purchase there and I said it will be $5 and the rep said it "may not" be $5 so I "guess it can be lowered"
  14. Unfortunately no I didn't hear anything about the Access A Ride for OMNY. If you see the recording of the meeting from 3:41:40 to 4:02:03 they didn't talking about about Access A Ride. Maybe in the April of next meeting talk about it I hope. You also call OMNY at 1-877-789-6669 from 8AM-8PM M-F and the weekends from 8AM-5PM.
  15. I just finished seeing the OMNY meeting from yesterday 9-19-23. The CPC book DID NOT mention it talks about OMNY so I though we would have to wait till April 2024 to hear it. I am glad they talk about OMNY and it is about time. If you want to see the presentation it is here It will start from 3:41:40 to 4:02:03. Here are "some of the highlights": Significant success with OMNY ready As new products features are coming out, we are entering a crucial stage to convert customers off Metro Card Integrated marketing, distribution channels, product releases and station staff Migrating all MTA customers fro Metro Card to OMNY will be a months-long process As of 42% people use OMNY Full rollout 2024 OMNY vending machines I will see it then I will believe it. They also said the Reduce Fare OMNY cards are "NOT READY" yet "BUT" SOON. Let's see when that sent through the mail. The last time I called OMNY CS they said oh it will be before end of 2023 and now I guess will be "delayed" till next year. They will probably will "delay" who knows. Anyway now we will have to wait till April 2024 to hear about another OMNY update. They said the CVM's (OMNY vending machines will be "fully rolled out next year 2024". The charts says it will include Weekly and Monthly. I guess they will have the 30 days OMNY when it is fully rolled out. Can't wait until they have the 30 days OMNY then I will switch to OMNY and I will say Good bye Metro it was nice knowing you.
  16. They will be using OMNY but we have to "wait" for the MTA to get everything "fixed and in good order" before they start distributing the OMNY cards to students. Since the OMNY machines are delayed I don't see it will be on time for students to use OMNY cards.
  17. Thanks for the update! I see but they should post were the machines are installed so that people know where you can use the OMNY machines. It's not surprising to me that they are delayed which is usual for the MTA. Since when they have been on time? NEVER!
  18. I just found out that the OMNY machines will be installed over 12 months. I read it here. This was on Sept 7, 2023: https://gothamist.com/news/mta-eases-rules-for-fare-capping-on-nyc-subways-buses MTA eases rules for ‘fare capping’ on NYC subways, buses It’s now easier for subway and bus riders to score a discount on their weekly fares when using OMNY. The MTA tweaked its so-called fare capping program when the agency hiked the cost to ride last month. When the program launched last year, riders who tapped the same credit card or smartphone on an OMNY reader would only be charged for their first 12 transit trips in a given week. The idea was to max out the weekly fare for OMNY users at the same cost of a seven-day unlimited MetroCard. But there was a catch: The system only counted a “week” as one starting Monday and ending Sunday, making it more difficult for New Yorkers who don’t work a typical nine-to-five to get the discount. That changed on Aug. 20. Now, the fare-capping option is calculated over any seven-day period — starting whenever someone makes their first OMNY tap, and resetting when that week is over. “The fare-cap benefit feels more generous under the new system,” said Christopher Neff, who lives in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. “It also seems fairer to workers who might commute on weekends and have days off midweek, because they might earn free taps under the new system that they could not earn under the old one.” Another small change transit riders may notice is how much they’re charged by OMNY once per week. The MTA needed to make the math for fare-capping add up after it hiked the cost of a single transit ride to $2.90 and the price of a seven-day unlimited MetroCard to $34. Now, OMNY users will be charged just $2.10 the 12th time they tap in a week. The OMNY system is scheduled to be the MTA’s only fare payment option by the end of 2025, when the agency plans to say goodbye to the MetroCard. MTA data shows the new system is catching on, with 42% of subway and bus riders using the tap system as of the spring. Transit riders will eventually be able to buy special reloadable OMNY cards at subway vending machines. But the rollout of the equipment has been beset by delays. The MTA previously said they would install the new vending machines this summer, which ends in two weeks. (Um Summer's Over ) “The OMNY vending machines will start to rollout in pilot phase very soon and the full installation will proceed over 12 months,” MTA spokesperson Eugene Resnick told Gothamist last week.
  19. Bummer.....Next October MTA meting does not say anything about OMNY. This is what says in the CPC book for September until next 2024 and in April they will talk about OMNY. I was so looking forward to the October meeting. I guess the had "other plans". This is what had in the CPC book for September. 20. I see wow you worked at Long Island that is a long ride and expensive too the train ride. There is a corner store at Sutphin/Archer? Whenever if I have to go Jamaica to go to Atlantic Terminal sometimes I go to the store inside the Jamaica station the NY Deli to get my breakfast or to Tim Horton the second level but man they are expensive but then it is next to the LIRR station so I understand. Yes I agree they should should keep the Q34 and not change the route number.
  21. Yes True I agree Anyway, I id call the MTA to make my suggestion to have the Q44/20 stop in front the LIRR station and then continue to there terminus. I said also if the Q25 can do that too that be wonderful but if they do that to the Q25 then the Q44/20 would do. Let's see if they will my suggestion. I guess they won't anyway.
  22. In fact I take the Q34 route and it will effect me. I leave 5AM in morning to go to work in Brooklyn but if they cut it and I need to go to Jamaica to take the LIRR into Atlantic Terminal (In case if the 7 is not working) and then transfer to anther subway to Brighton I would need to find another bus that will stop at the Jamaica in front of the LIRR station because I do not feel safe walking in Jamaica 5 or 6 in the morning and it is still night time. They need the Q44SBS or the Q20 bus to stop in front of the LIRR Jamaica station and then continue to their terminus.
  23. That is what I am trying find out too and I have called OMNY CS and they just said they are "starting to install the vending machines in a "couple of stations" and I asked them what location and they said we don't but we were just told they are starting to install in a couple of locations. OMNY meeting start next month October we shall find out more **hopefully**. Regarding about the student Metro Cards "maybe"if they roll out in January they might update for students from Metro Card to OMNY for students. I doubt that they will do that because I think they will do that during the next school year starts in September 2024-2025.
