  1. Ok, heres one for you guys. I went to the MTA psychiatrist yesterday. Everything went well, he said im cleared, all they wanted to know was that im mentally stable. So i go down to livingston this morning and they dont have the fax yet! Ok fine, but the lady said it could take two weeks??? I have to call the "mac" number before i go back to make sure they have the clearance from the doc. I'll miss the next class if it takes 2 weeks!
  2. Ok, so my 90 day drug test will expire by Jan 28th. Should i ask them to give me one soon?
  3. also, if i do get sworn in on Jan 16th, it will be exactly 90 days from my drug test on Oct 19th. should i ask them to give me a drug test before then to avoid a week delay in waiting for the results? or am i good with EXACTLY 90 days in between? http://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html?m1=10&d1=19&y1=2012&m2=01&d2=16&y2=2013&ti=on
  4. is there any possibility that the January class would start before Jan. 15th? im on medical hold for antidepressants and i have to see the MTA psychiatrist just to make sure im not homicidal/suicidal/etc. but the appointment they gave me is Jan. 15th. so the earliest that i can get sworn in would be Jan 16th
  5. If "break you" means not getting the job, it sounds like everything will break you. 3rd rail jumper, overrunning the station, not scoring 100 on the signals test. This is why they need 11,000 applicants to only fill a few hundred positions
  6. No, i read in one of the TWU contracts that the first week is minimum wage. These guys say its 2 weeks. Either way, its true
  7. Are the first two weeks of schoolcar minimum wage? I keep reading that on here, hopefully they changed that
  8. Im in the same sweet position with my medical hold. Im in the 250s and i'll probably be in a class with some 400s. But shhh, if too many people do this they wont let us pick our own divisions anymore! (Im guessing)
  9. Is there really a train operator liasion? Lol
  10. hey, i didnt realize that OTO hours are paid in time and a half too! http://www.twulocal100.org/sites/twulocal100.org/files/RTO%201004%20oto.pdf " When you bank OT, you are credited with the hours worked plus the bonus. In other words, if you work an RDO for 8 hours, you can bank 12 hours (8+4)." thats sweet!
  11. are there really 11 hour jobs out there? i was under the impression that the cut most, if not all of those after the budget cuts to kill the overtime
  12. the way it was explained to me, you can bank the overtime as "overtime offset", and really only have to work 40 hours a week, assuming you live within your means!
  13. yeah, they told me to bring food! lmao i guess i'll be there all day
  14. list #250's, medical thursday at 7:30. guess i gotta start that damn 21 page application, ugh!
  15. *voice of The Hives* Hate to say I told you sooo!
  16. maybe that person wasn't a conductor yet in 2009
  17. But they still let you know that day if you're hired, right? Assuming everything is good, of course
  18. so it IS true that after final processing you dont have to take the VERY NEXT class if its not convenient for you
  19. so does that imply that we in the next batch aren't going back until late december?
  20. Oh ok, i'll check it out when i get home from work
  21. ok so i finally looked over this 21 page application and i have 2 questions. 1. for the education part, do they have 4 sections because they want you to put elementary and middle school, or is that just extra for people who transferred in high school/college? 2. when they ask if you ever worked for a city agency, does the Summer Youth Employment Program count as a city agency?
  22. You're right, i know its not gonna be easy. But there wont be a lack of motivation on my part this time, this is what i really want. Plus i am 8 years older than i was when i quit college. Being older plus having lived through the Great Recession has made me realize how important having a good job really is. At the time i actually thought i could have an apartment working at Subway sandwiches, just that it wouldnt be as big. I now know thats not even possible.
