what do you mean everyone has to go down to ps 248? everyone in schoolcar And those of us doing 3 months in the yard? just for one day or are they cancelling the program on the spot?
Yeah I was wondering because next year they're increasing service on the G and M, the article says they need more on the R and work trains to deliver equipment to the montague tube. plus the R179s are scheduled to be tested next year. something's gotta give!
word around the rumor-mill today was that the sent out a letter to retirees (all titles) asking them to come back to work because they are so short on qualified employees! this can't be good for those of you hoping to get into school car
I'm currently doing 3 months in the yard. We do work weekends, my rdos are wed/thurs this week (yay I get to go to the jimmy eat world concert in central park on Wednesday!) . The "yard" consists of yard switching and station switching. We're just not allowed to operate with passengers yet
it started with my class, the March 25th class. we've been doing our "3 months in the yard" for about 3 weeks now, and the program is already done for??? lmao! they better not let these April, May, June, July classes graduate before i do!
speaking of the contract, I've been looking for it online for YEARS now and figured it wasn't online. when the TWU came to talk to us in orientation they said it was on twulocal100.org but I still cant find it! anyone have a link to it? I would ask a union rep but I never see them
since 2009, transit workers have gotten an 11 percent raise, granted by an arbitrator http://secondavenuesagas.com/2009/12/13/wage-increases-to-cost-100m-after-judge-backs-twu-in-appeal/
$26.99 x 1.11 = 29.9589 . After it's compounded a few times, it comes out to $30.0375
ok, so how exactly does this whole "pick" thing work? obviously you have to have the seniority. but what determines if you have the seniority??? is it that the MTA has to hold back a certain amount of people to be road extras? or is it that we get to go down the list until all jobs have been picked?
or you could have seen my class. we came from coney island and took a "comfort" at bedford park for 10 min, then we went right back down to coney island
$1500
thats 40 hours a week with no OT and your pension and retiree health benefit deductions. it'll be less if you do 401(k) and other stuff. you get paid $30.0375/hr, even in training
so early november? my last day of schoolcar is nov 21st!!! i hope it gets delayed for some reason so i get to pick. i'll be senior to 470 train operators by then (actually around 500 since i'm pretty high in my current class too). if the B division is really hurting for T/Os there should be some leftover jobs, even if they suck
