  1. They're always vague. Especially when it's an internal document and not a press release.

    *Weekend Daytime

**One Week (TBD if they mean if it's just one week instead of multiple or if it's a continuous 24 hour closure)

    Busy schedule, no?

Now a sticky topic until further notice.

First of all, thank you for this schedule.

Second, does anyone recall whose idea is was originally to make this a sticky topic to begin with?

  2. As some of you may know, I am in graduate school @ NYU-Poly in Brooklyn. For one of my classes, Management of Transit Maintenance and Operations, I have to do a 10+ page paper on a subway-related topic. I chose FASTRACK.

The other day, I was talking to the Professor (whose name I will keep anonymous) about what I should include in the paper to get a very high grade. He mentioned to me the following:

-Why FASTRACK was not done in the past?

-Safety issues/flagging issues (since a track worker got killed in the past relating to this)

    -Something changing over time

    -Increasing the safety measure

I was looking on the internet for any material relating to this and I was not successful. I do plan on referring more to the Press Release and the Line Segment Closure Program Presentation that was released on November 14, 2011, however if anyone has any information relating to this I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Due to clean up efforts and repairs in the 207 Street Yard, please expect delays in both directions on the a.png, b.png, c.png and d.pngtrains at this time.

Due to clean up efforts and repairs in the 207 Street Yard, a.png trains are running local between the 168 Street Station and the 145 Street Station in both directions.

Please expect delays in both directions on the a.png, b.png, c.png and d.png trains at this time.

I am assuming that they have to lay-up the trains that are normally stored in the yard along the express tracks, right?

  4. Service Change Posted: 09/13/2012 9:34PM

Due to a rail condition at Grand Av-Newtown Station:

Middle Village-bound m.png trains are running express between 71 Av and Roosevelt Av.

Bay Ridge-bound r.png trains are running express between 71 Av and Roosevelt Av.

Please expect delays in m.png and r.png train service at this time.

It was interesting because on the way home I saw an R46 S/B at the Woodhaven Boulevard Station. On the south end, the Train Operator did not have his/her running lights on - instead, the red lights were on. Also, the side LED sign said "Not In Service", which was very interesting.

  5. Due to a police investigation at Smith-9th Streets Station, please expect delays in service on Uptown F.gif trains at this time

Uhh dont they mean 4 Avenue? IIRC Smith-9 Street is still closed.

Due to a police investigation at Smith-9th Streets Station:

Some Uptown F.gif trains are terminating at the Church Avenue Station.

Uptown F.gif trains are running on the D.gif line between the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station and the West 4th Street-Washington Square Station.

There is no service on G.gif trains between the Church Avenue Station and the Court Square Station.

Please expect delays in service on F.gif and G.gif trains at this time.

  6. According to several reports, FASTRACK seems to be more efficient than the normal weekend track work, since track workers can get a lot more done and not have to worry about any passenger subway trains (maybe one or two work trains). In addition, FASTRACK has been taking place where there is other subway service available. Example: In Midtown and Lower Manhattan there are a toal of 5 different lines (8th Ave IND, 7th Ave. IRT, 6th Ave IND, Broadway BMT and Lex. Ave. IRT). Therefore, if they shut one of them down for four nights straight, compared to 4 weekends in a row, IMHO, it is not a big deal.

  7. Hi~

If you look at my current signature, it contains the Q26 going to Main Street. I would like another Q26 sign, with the Orange Horizon LTD (the same thing Casey Stengel has for his avatar) going the other way.

I would like my sign to read the correct information to this date. I believe it is the following:

    [Destination] Fresh Meadows

    Hollis Court Blvd

    [Via] 46th Avenue

In the event I am wrong (since I don't ride the route every day) I would rather have a sign with the correct information than the wrong information.

    Thanks!

  8. As a response to what Zman said: "T/O's have to gain seniority and pick a yard trick at 207th Street Yard. C/R's can work anywhere, but you've gotta know the right people. Training is done on your own time, without pay. Oh, and you've gotta wait until one of the regulars either decided to not do it anymore, takes a promotion, or retires. Good luck on that part."

I say: "For nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37). Nobody knows what the future holds. Sometimes if you have a little bit of faith and luck, things work out for you.
