  1. Well Bombardier has experience building the R110B.
  2. It's still intact. I just thought I would extend the to NJ south of the City Hall loop instead of the , but then I forgot about the costs to extend the to the Manhattan Hudson shoreline in the first place.
  3. I actually have this idea I didn't mention yet. Why don't we just extend the to Secaucus instead. It goes through the same places as the does, and would do the same job as the . The only difference is you could send the farther into Eastern Queens (Bayside) which isn't served, but if they ever do that then the would be too long, but you can't extend the anywhere. It's also a local like the , and thus it would be possible to send the from Brooklyn Bridge to Secaucus via Hoboken. Or you could make the local, and make the an (8), and it can run as the Lexington Avenue Express alongside the which is still local, but it's the best option besides the .
  4. I've got some more ideas *Finish the Archer Avenue Subway *Create a LaGuardia Airport that would run from Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard to Mets-Willets Point. *Extend the , and from Flatbush Avenue to Brighton Beach which was originally intended. *Create the Utica Avenue Subway, and extend it onto the current Rockaway Park ROW. *Off topic, but I would create a First Avenue Light Rail that would run from Moshulu Parkway to 4th Avenue-9th Street , .
  5. The R110B were 67 footers, and they ran without problems in the subway system for years. Any 67 footers on the , and the would be 9 cars in length, and those on the Jamaica Elevated would have to be anywhere between 7-8 cars.
  6. Oh wow so I guess the PDF must be out of date then.
  7. Actually despite what the has mentioned. The R179's could be 75 foot cars. Just look at the PDF from the below. Just make sure you flip to page 38 people. http://mta.info/mta/budget/pdf/2008-2013%20Capital%20Plan.pdf
  8. Nope in reality I hope the builders of the original R68's Westinghouse would be rewarded with the contract to build the R179's.
  9. I know my jokes su*k so I deleted it, but you got me with my stupid joke.
  10. I don't care who gets to build these cars. I want to see if the picked the right contractors to build these cars, and I just want to see if it would get done in time. Since the R160's were built in Brazil then I guess they are Brazilian.
  11. That is possible, and could be operated in within three hours. The only problem is the free track on the Hell Gate Bridge is just one alone. Every other one is used by railroads. So your would be bi directional on the Bridge.
  12. The -6th Avenue was only a temporarily service to serve the Sixth Avenue Line when the 63rd Street Connector was under construction. There is no need for a -6th Avenue. Plus the gray is a real proposal which everyone believes should be implemented. It's to skip stop with the . The , and the has a similar service, and it works.
  13. Why don't just have a crosstown line extension, but not with the . Instead create a new subway service using Cemetery Way in Queens, link it to the crosstown line, and run it down till it reaches the vincinity of 23rd Street in Manhattan, have it run in a tunnel across the river, and then send it up Third Avenue to go up to the Bronx.
  14. I know your idea. I just put extensions in my idea to better serve Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Though you don't have to.
  15. That is a good idea. If you looked at my posts on the last page you would find out that a gray was proposed to skip stop along with the . If this happens the , and the can be extended up Tenth Avenue to better serve the West Side, and be extended along the Bay Ridge Branch to create a much needed crosstown Brooklyn line on designated subway tracks on a line capable of carrying 6 tracks with only 2 surviving tracks today.
  16. Still too long. Train crews would spend 5 hours operating this train line. The still won't go for it.
  17. Just don't do it. Make a good project, and make it super cheap. Also an crew would find your route a nightmare. They might have to do a 6 hour work shift. They won't really get paid much for it. The is literally half as long as your proposal, and it takes 3 hours to operate it back, and forth. Train crews on your can only do a one way run. There is no way the would go for it.
  18. The tunnels are also narrower along the IRT lines so it can't fit a B divison car. It won't work, and the would be too long. I suggest a second BMT service, and you split your line in half with one service serving one part, and the other another part. Also you can have other existing subway lines to cover up some parts. For example you could bring back the which is in my fantasy map, and branch it off at Marble Hill to serve the farther out section of Riverdale. Also the upper sections of Washington Heights is well served by the , and the . Your ideas in Brooklyn could be served by creating a service using the current tracks where it would branch off to use the upper Myrtle Avenue level, and continue on down to DUMBO, and Downtown Brooklyn. You could then have it curved up, and run into Manhattan somehow. Then you can send it up Third Avenue. I think though Third Avenue would be better with a Light Rail that goes up to Woodlawn Heights strechting all the way down to the new Ikea at Red Hook which is unserved by the subway. Also the Woodlawn Light Rail section in the Bronx would run west of the current . I know you are asking how would the Light Rail get into Manhattan. It would use the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge carried light rail up till the 1950's. With 6 traffic lanes, and a massive amount of pedestrian traffic I suggest two lanes would be removed for the Third Avenue Light Rail. Also for the Bronx extension a bridge should be built to help it get there. This would be helpful in the future, because A) Second Avenue might never happen It would do the same thing as the current Lexington Avenue Line therefore it would reduce overcrowding. C) It would be cheap to implement, and D) It would be attractive to look at.
  19. The IRT Lines and the BMT/IND Lines can't run together not even in a fantasy world. Also R160 I thought up of another idea. Instead why don't you bring back the idea, and make a , skip stop service pattern similar to the , and . They would both have 41 stations, but because they would do skip stop it would be successful.
  20. You can extend the current Franklin Avenue Shuttle into a two tracked tunnel, make it two tracked, and run it down Downtown Brooklyn, and DUMBO which is unserved when they torn down the Myrtle Avenue Elevated. Run it into the 14th Street Tunnel with the into Manhattan, and once it runs down Tenth Avenue make that the local, and the express along Tenth Avenue.
  21. Also here is the gray http://blake.prohosting.com/~tptsm/~bullets/1979/info/canarsie.html#K
  22. The current has 24 stations. Most current subway lines like the which has 43, and the which has 45 is more then what the has. The could be send up Tenth Avenue to 59th Street-Columbus Circle to better serve the West Side, and if possible gain 2 new tracks designated for subway use along the former LIRR Bay Ridge Branch creating a crosstown Brooklyn Line to 20th Avenue on the Sea Beach. If that happens the would gain 17 more stations to become 41. It would be the limit for the . Any extension to the after that would make it too long, and slow.
  23. Actually a grey bullet was proposed to be a Canarsie Skip-Stop it never got implemented. It exists on some equipments though like the R110B.
  24. Or you could rebuild the Myrtle Avenue Elevated. Downtown Brooklyn, and DUMBO aren't well served when they torn down the El there.
  25. I don't think the Triboro RX is possible given that only one free track exist on the Hell Gate Bridge, and the sold most of the ROW to Amtrak, and CSX. The only section that still belong to the is the current (able to carry 6 tracks, but now only carries 2 tracks) Bay Ridge Branch which is an FRA regulated railroad. That is why I suggested building 2 extra tracks for subway use, and connecting the current onto this line. The other 2 railroad tracks would be used by the LIRR, and would be brought back to a passenger line which would connect on to the SIR, and run on to Staten Island since the tracks exist right at the waterfront. The locations of the 2 other former tracks would have platforms for both LIRR, and the regular subway. Like this For the one seat ride from the Bronx to Brooklyn without going to Manhattan a better option would be to extend the to Throgs Neck with the . The would dip into the Harbor in a tunnel, and the would be extended up 21 Street and would go into the tunnel with the . The should also be extended down Fort Hamilton Parkway to serve Dyker Heights. I used to go to school around there, and the buses are heavily overcrowded. A subway line would reduce the crowding. To handle the estimated 40,000 to 70,000 riders the would be given 8 cars. Not just that it would take people off the buses crossing the Throgs Neck Bridge, and the Whitestone Bridge.
