  1. Smh Lol @ the "too many buses in our neighborhood" argument.... That was mainly the reason they rejected Bx8's.

1] Can't see artics roaming through Woodlawn.... Guess it would be good to see O7's running along GC.....

2] This would also give the MTA an excuse to cut a bunch of service on the Bx2; as current Bx2 service levels throughout the day are way more than what Woodlawn needs..... Even short turning a set amount of trips somewhere along the concourse would likely yield some sort of service cut on the Bx2 if it ran up to Woodlawn....

    no dice.....

That already happens from time to time... You'll get the occasional Orion VII NG on the Bx2... You'll sometimes see a Orion V too...

  2. Speaking of youtube, what is up with the constant automatic stopping & non playback of videos after like 1:30 into the video.....

Tired of having to refresh the page to (click on the point to) continue from where the video stopped playing at..... It's like they're doing this on purpose so they can have end-users see more ads.....

I've been having a lot of issues with Youtube as well.  I think the issue that they're cramming too many ads into the videos now and they take forever to start.

Adding on to those issues, on many occasions I find Youtube's video player tracker unresponsive, as in I can't rewind or fast forward.

At any rate I don't upload anything worthy to Youtube. I had an old Myspace I had some music on, but that's it.

Any one of you guys have ad blocker? I recommend it... Since I got it a while back, I never had to deal with Youtube ads...

  3. Need a lil help from the fam.... Quick question....

What exactly is the first pick up (meaning, first Bronx bound passenger) stop for the Bx11,13, 35, & 36?

    - Is the first pick up stop, the same as the last dropoff stop along 179th b/w ft washington & broadway...

    - Or is the first pick up stop over there across the street from the fort washington av entrance to the GWB terminal (ft washington b/w 178th & 179th)....

I do know that the sign at the terminal says "GWB" but I'm not very sure if that's the first pick up going back to the Bronx... I don't remember a stop on fort Washington itself between 178th and 179th but I know there is a stop on 178th near FT Washington... If I were you, I'd wait at the 178th stop...

Sorry I can't give you an exact answer bro...

  4. A good thing too, that sign display looked awful. The ones on the artic version looks much better. I don't need the borough letter so tiny compared to a gigantic number for the route.

    This!

I always found the small borough letter with a giant route number looked very weird... I too prefer the signs on the LFSA...

  5. For the Bx2, as was mentioned before, I'd leave it as is. I mean, you're reducing service because it parallels the subway, but at the same time, you're causing it to parallel the subway for a longer portion of the route. With the current route, you provide direct access to The Hub, which the subway doesn't provide.

    This! I agree!

The Hub has subway access to the Concourse with the (2) and (5) but it will mean to transfer to the Bx2 once you get off the subway for the rest of the Concourse if the Bx2's routing were to change... Folks from the Concourse frequent the Hub and you (cotb16) are proposing to eliminate the one seat ride for them... It was bad enough when the Bx2's route was changed because of the Hub's new traffic pattern back then...  Not worth it in my opinion... Keep the Bx2 as is...

  6. Yup, I saw that bus outside KP mall last month. I still don't like the all blue vs the old MC orange and gold scheme. I hate the change, the previous one was better.

Having rode a 5300 artic again today, I will admit that I was wrong in thinking the back section lost some seats. It's just now the new configuration will make it less leg room for the window side seat, but at least the outer seat will have more leg room. So either way, as long as the conversation seat arrangement is gone, I'm fine with it. Now if only they changed those bench seats with more forward facing 2 seaters like what the xd60s have and it'd be perfect.

Rode 4229 this morning, it's the few (if not only NG) with the 1x2 seating (except for the one seat opposite from the door, which is a 2 seater) that you'd find on the newer 3g buses.

I like the blue on the metrocard bus since blue is my favorite color...

    Vintage Vittorio.

    LOL! So true...

  7. Anyone watch HBO's game of thrones? I don't really care much for it, but the dragon chick's storyline seemed to interest me. Not to mention how the ads are always featuring her. This week's ep was pretty cool.

Not to mention you find her cute as well lol... ;) Can't lie to me! She is cute though... I don't watch the show however...

    -----------------------------

On the topic of shows, I know I might get flamed for this but I don't watch the walking dead and get quite annoyed when folks keep mentioning it... I know the next season starts in October simply because a friend of mines keeps talking about it... That's ok... While you guys watch the walking dead, I'll be playing GTA V by that time lol...

  8. Your opinion is fine, I'm just curious as to why you think that. If you haven't been out to Staten Island seeing the hills they climb and the abuse they take, you'd clearly take that back. Structurally, those buses are the best.

And don't give me shit about them being in Brooklyn because Brooklyn is child's play compared to Staten Island.

The Xcelsiors in my opinion are the weakest considering that there is physical evidence of that certain model not aging well whereas the Novas and Orions are holding up nicely.

The fact that the bodies and the build of the oldest OGs have surpassed expectations and the NGs are still hanging in there just fine just clearly shows just how good Orion had become with their craft. I firmly believe that the 7000s will outlive the 4800s.

I believe the 7000's will out live the 8000's too...

  9. You should see how they handle packages before they even get to the truck, much less on the truck..... Even if you insure your package, there's no guarantee that your package will be handled with care (fragile labels are worthless) - In other words, your shit will still arrive broken if it's not packed properly... These f***in guys drive like maniacs on top of that -  believe me, I work a couple blocks from the ups & fedex facilities over along greenwich st in the village....

Also, with UPS/FedEx, if you're shipping something to someone within NYC, don't bother paying for overnight/1 day shipping... total waste of money....

Home deliveries, UPS is the worst - if you live in a private house & no one answers the bell, forget it... One of two things will happen.... You either get that yellow sticker on your door telling you you have to come a facility YOURSELF to pick up your own damn package (that's supposed to be done after 3 attempts, but these lazy fu**ers will do it on the first/only attempt), or two, your package will be left on the steps & you'd be SOL if your package gets stolen.... if you live in a complex w/ security, that package will be left with security & you better hope that MF-er isn't a thief.... if you live in a complex w/ no security, your package will likely be left any ole where - the protocol is, just as long as the package got to that address....

See, with UPS, they primarily care about daily commercial pickups/dropoffs to a company since that's where the money's at... home deliveries are on the bottom of the totem pole; which is why UPS is losing business to fedex ground on that end of it..... When you hear people dropping UPS for USPS (post office), you know there's a serious problem w/ UPS because the post office will deliver your package to you whenever.... Literally, whenever, as it's just a flat service.....

Couldn't have said it better myself...  As with your last paragraph, I've been doing just that... My last few orders, I chose USPS over UPS/Fedex simply because the latter two can't get their act right... With USPS, I don't have any real complaints simply because it's usually in my mailbox when I go and look on the days it's estimated to arrive...

    No question about it^

Basically I kinda have to take the day off when the package comes. I think one time I heard the knock at the door and didn't get to it fast enough and I was seeing the guy get into the truck. I flagged the guy down before he turned the engine on to drive away. But most of the time they do leave the box outside. So yeah, you can't leave the boxes to chance and need to stay on top of the delivery schedule, which is a major pita.

That's what I would do too... When I know a package is supposed to come, I stay home...

One time, This UPS guy claims to have rung my doorbell but I was home all day and never heard anything... They left a note downstairs stating that they will try again next day... Let's just say UPS got an angry call from me... Even then, they still do the same thing...

  10. Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with either companies delivering my stuff.  :knock on wood: One of those times was my laptop.

I do understand that for a house, it doesn't make it any better, but at least if it's on the porch, it isn't likely that it will be placed at the wrong address. But it does help if there's one good neighbor to watch for your stuff.

I have also left a note a few times to leave it with that neighbor if I'm not around cuz I trust him with my stuff as he does for me.

Lucky you... Folks with apartments aren't so lucky like myself... These guys at UPS/Fedex are really incompetent I tell you... Sometimes, they put little effort to get you your package... For some odd reason, my package is usually delivered really late (Around 6 to 7 PM...) That's usually the end of their shift... Sometimes, I need my stuff quickly...

  11. Oh I know a lot about UPS... Also about Fedex... I swear both companies have idiots... When I'm going to wait for a package, I make sure the front door downstairs is unlocked and I put a sign stating that I'm home so they won't try to leave with my package... Even then, they leave sometimes without coming upstairs... <_< I had to wait a day or two later to get my packages sometimes...

  12. lol... Well it's been said that the Bronx tears up their buses so maybe that's why...

I know but it's not only the Bronx that doesn't have good maintenance... Plus, the Bronx in my opinion is ideal for testing out artics... Different terrain in different areas...
