mark1447 Posted November 22, 2009 #1 Posted November 22, 2009 How long will MaBSTOA remain as a Subsidiary to the NYCT? And when did they become one. (1984 i think?)
EE Broadway Local Posted November 23, 2009 #2 Posted November 23, 2009 The Manhattan And Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority was created in 1962. It was created to take over bus routes from the Fifth Avenue Coach Company and Surface Transit, Inc which was bankrupt. The MABSTOA website is http:http://www.mabstoa.com I think MABSTOA may be a subsidiary for a long time - they operate seventy-six routes in Manhattan and The Bronx and eight depots. I think 1984 was the first year MABSTOA services were operated under the New York City Bus brand of MTA Regional Bus Operations.
w8Hou Posted November 23, 2009 #3 Posted November 23, 2009 MaBSTOA will be forever and it's name usage is really hidden from the public. Unless there's gonna be changes soon under MTA RBA. right now, there are two major differences between NYCT Bus and MaBSTOA... MaBSTOA is not civil service employee and they operate their own pension fund. That's it. They are under NYCT with certain rules that I mention. Basically, MaBSTOA is a subsidary and operates under NYCT. There name is really no longer use outside of the public due to long name and werid abbration.
