EE Broadway Local Posted March 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2010 The "Clockwork Orange" is the nickname for Glasgow's small subway. Running on tracks that are only 4 feet wide in tunnels that are only 11 feet wide, the subway is a single line in roughly an oval shape with 15 stops and passes under the River Clyde twice.. Trains travel clockwise and counterclockwise. Since 1977, the subway has been rebuilt and modernized. Originally cable-hauled, the Glasgow subway has been third rail, 600 volts since 1935. Deaks Posted March 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 15, 2010 I have ridden that a few times. It's like a London Underground tube train only a fair bit smaller. If you are over 6ft tall then you can't stand up straight in any part of the train. But on the other hand, you can ride the entire line in about 30 minutes or so. Wandering around some of the areas it passes through outside the city centre isn't a clever idea. Inside Train arriving.
