Hampton Roads Transit photos - Part IV

Recommended Posts

Haven't really been here in a few months, so I thought I'd some of my pictures that I have taken since September.

An unusual sight - 2004 is a bus from the Norfolk-Portsmouth-Chesapeake-VA Beach side of Hampton Roads. Our side only has 2029-2039.

On the 102 going down Power Plant Parkway. (note: despite the name of the street, there is no power plant on or anywhere near it.)

Another bus from Norfolk-VA Beach side running the 114.

Route 104 - 95% of the time, there is a 30-ft bus on this route.

The bus on the right was moved to the Peninsula after an accident in August of 2008 where a car collided with it and exploded.

This is actually a very odd sight. This bus was made for the express routes and is equipped with WiFi and coach-style seating...yet is running a regular route that goes through three of the most crime-infested areas of town and a stretch of road that would make you think you are in Kansas.

The 961 at the Hampton Transit Center.

This is my favorite route, even though I have never ridden it (115 - King Street / Fox Hill Road / Buckroe Beach)

Despite the fact that this route goes past a historic university, it only runs every hour, and only has a 35-foot bus on it. Also note, the destination sign is broken. This is the Route 117.

One of our hybrids on the 104.

Bus 1909 on the 112 headed to the Newport News Transit Center. Two minutes later...

1905 comes by on the 112 headed to Newport News Transit Center. I think it was the snow.

In 2007, this bus was in an accident where the driver lost control and collided with a house. For a while, I thought it was retired until I found out last year that it was fixed, and this is the first time I have seen it since then (which isn't saying much since the first time I ever saw it was in the news report about the accident.)

Bus 1801 leaving the Northside base to do a run on the 121. The funny thing is the 121 is an express route, but it wasn't made into a MAX route in 2008, even though it's longer than every other HRT route and even the MAX routes: 35.8 miles.
