Guest Charles Posted August 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2010 If anyone picks up a Queens bus map, it clearly shows the Q18, Q102, and Q103 terminate in Astoria at 27 Av and 2 St. The Q102 and Q103 used to be out of CP, but now all 3 routes are out of LGA. So my question is (and call me picky, but): Why do Astoria-bound Q18s read Astoria/2 St while Astoria-bound Q102s read Astoria/27 Av? I haven't seen an Astoria-bound Q103 reading yet, but I'm assuming it would read Astoria/27 Av like the Q102. Since all 3 buses terminate at the same spot, shouldn't the destination signs be uniform? Here are examples of what I'm talking about: http://www.ttmg.org/pages/dcbna/nymta-orions.html --> Expand 4000-4099 --> 4038 shows the Q18 and 2nd picture shows the Q102. Q43LTD 778 Posted August 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2010 No, it's actually based on direction. The Q18 is an east-west route, so the signage reads Astoria/2 St via 30 Av. The Q102 and 103 are north-south routes, so the signage on them reads Astoria/27 Av
B35 via Church 10,338 Posted August 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2010 ^^ makes sense.... I haven't seen an Astoria-bound Q103 reading yet, yeah, it says Astoria/27th...
Guest Charles Posted August 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks guys, I also thought it could have to do something with Triboro & QSC but the direction reason makes sense.
