Shortline Bus Posted September 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2010 Does anyone watch for a few minutes or a few hours a Labor Day tradition in America for about half a century the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon? Have you pleaded any money for them, this year or any other year? Also any of you have spoken live to a 'celebrity' volunteer on the phone? Also how many of you have donated any monies to these popular yearly telethons like Jerry Lewis MDA,UCP(United Celebral Palsy) and UNCF Telethon(formerly the Lou Rawls United Negro College Fund Telethon)shows? Or have you watched even 1-time only telethon specials such as the ones for the victims/widows of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, Hurricane Katrina and most recently for the Haiti Earthquake victims? Or Do you feel these telethons are a 'scam' or waste of time? Just curious. FYI. Jerry Lewis started in the early 1960's locally on then WNEW-TV(now Fox-5 in the NYC/NJ metro area) and later expanded to a national syndicated event. It been on Ch.9 in NYC/NJ area since about i think 1995.
