Trainspotter Posted April 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2008 Smoke at Grand Central cancels 7 train temporarily A smoke condition caused the temporary cancellation of No. 7 train subway service to Grand Central Terminal Wednesday, New York City Transit officials said. Service was disrupted for about a half-hour before being restored at 8:38 a.m. Officials could not detail what caused the smoke condition and would only say that it was in the vicinity of Grand Central Terminal -- but not actually in the terminal itself. It also was unclear if the smoke was the result of a track fire or some other blaze. Service was suspended on the No. 7 line at 7:57 a.m. Express service was suspended between Main Street and Queensboro Plaza, while local service was suspended between Hunterspoint Avenue and Times Square. Though service was restored at 8:38 a.m., officials said residual delays were expected. From: - April 3, 2008
