I wonder if that was before or after the Van Wyck Expwy extension. That combined with the Grand Central Pkwy widening in 1964 altered that interchange quite a lot from the original configuration. I once got stuck in traffic in that are driving back from LaGuardia in a rainstorm. The traffic was caused by a major flood that had to have been like over a foot of water. I thought my car was gunna get messed up.
