superdrive1 Posted November 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2013 This weekend the London Transport Museum held it's 2nd Open Weekend at it's outstation Acton Depot. This is where all items that are currently not in public display within the main museum at Covent Garden are kept. Below are a selection of images showcasing only a tiny section of what was on offer, although across the site trains, buses, trams, trolleybuses, taxis and signs were about! I would have got more pictures of more items, however the amount of people around the site made taking pictures of most impossible! Enjoy this look at what London Transport used to look like. (excuse quality of the images from inside the shed, camera not best suited to indoor conditions)

superdrive1 Posted November 4, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted November 4, 2013 Thanks. Wish I could have been there. Wow ! Thank you for the pictures. Thank you both! I have just found out for myself that the entire museum collection stored at Acton Depot totals well over 370,000 separate items, plus countless more at the main museum in Covent Garden. If never done before a trip to the London Transport Museum is recommended, it is generally open all year with the obvious exceptions of Christmas and so on. The Museum Depot at Acton Town where these pictures were taken is open for 2 weekends a year as 'Open Weekends' where the entire collection is visible along with stalls etc to buy LT related items. It is also open for 2 days each month for special guided tours, having been on a guided tour myself in the past this is also highly recommended.
