+Young+ Posted January 25, 2014 #2 Posted January 25, 2014 From a civil service perspective, you first have to take an exam. Next is the BOSS test. Providing you pass both of them, then you will be given a list number. Based on the hiring needs of the agency, and your list number will determine when you will be called. The lower your list # is, the better. Once you get called (by NYC Transit), you will have to go for a drug test (maybe 2 or 3 of them like me), followed by medical, final processing, and training. If you are successful with all of these steps then you are on probation for one year. Once off probation, then you have a full-time job.
