Possible Extension of Shore Line East and MBTA to Westerly and Kingston?

Recently, I've been reading on the web about the Rhode Island State Planning Council considering an extension of MBTA's Providence line to Kingston and Westerly along with new stations. They are also considering extending CDOT's Shore Line East service to Kingston and Westerly too. Here's the link for more details.

What are your opinions of having these two commuter rail services extended?

Why don't they do what MARC did pay Amtrak to cross honor their tickets On some trains?
