  1. Hello, I am currently looking to work at the MTA, primarily in NYCT, LIRR, and MNRR. To tell you a bit about myself, I was born and raised in NYC and have some experience working at the Capital Management offices in 2 Broadway as an intern at different times from 2016 to 2017. I wanted to return full-time but wasn't able to due to a hiring freeze at the time. Since April 2019, I moved to Newport News, VA to work at a shipyard until I was laid off from work in February 2021; therefore I plan to move back up north and bring my shipyard experiences to industries I applied in the past. The kind of jobs I am looking for at the MTA are the typical desk jobs where you look through documents, communicating with other departments, while also doing field work. In addition, I am also looking for position that involve design using CAD software like Microstation. In addition, if there are no jobs like the ones I described at the MTA, I am open to finding jobs at SEPTA, NJ Transit, or CDOT.
  2. I don't know about MNRR, but from what I remembered, the freeze applies mostly to non-essential positions, I think.
  3. So, after over a year, the hiring freeze at the MTA is still ongoing; not just for MNRR, but probably all MTA agencies. That is the sole reason why I couldn't return to work at NYCT.
  4. Based on what I read regarding the R42's, the question I am trying to find the answer to is: what are the current status of the R42's? Are they truly retired or just reserved for contingency? Also, what's the current status with Jamaica/Coney Island R46/R160 swap? I ridden both Queens Blvd and Broadway/Astoria the past few days and I still see R46's on the R and the N/W is 90% R160's.
  5. I've seen videos of an R179 set on the from months ago, but only on the weekend shuttle. How come they didn't go via 6th Avenue and Queens Blvd?
  6. When are the best times to catch the M3's on the LIRR? Is there like a specific schedule for when they run? Also, on the New Haven Line, when are the best times to catch the remaining M2 reserved fleet?
  7. They do have a Command RTS CNG at Spring Creek though. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  8. In this photo from March 2007, what was a New York Bus Service fishbowl doing in LGA depot? https://www.flickr.com/photos/15636971@N02/8415628384/in/photostream/
  9. In 96th Street today, I was told by a rail enthusiast that he heard from Trevor Logan that R68's are banned from Second Avenue until they get new rollsigns indicating the new route. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I saw a Q train coming out from the layup tracks north of 96th Street today. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  10. In my opinion, since there are already existing tunnel segments up til 120th Street, it might be possible that during construction of phase 2, 106th and 116th Street stations could be opened to service first, while work is in progress for 125th since that requires constructing new tunnels using TBM's. 11. That would mean that the line will finally live up to its purpose. I can imagine that will be so popular that people will demand an extension up north. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  12. So has anyone seen reactions from regular commuters that the Q train now goes to 96th street instead of 57th street?
  13. Hopefully, the Arnines or any museum cars will travel on this line someday, probably in summer 2017.
