Eric Kreszl Posted August 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2007 Hello Everyone, I have just heard that very soon the first of the NJT GP40FH-2's from 4130-4134 that were sent out to be rebuilt will be coming back as a new switcher to replace the SW1500 locomotives. NJTransitFan Posted August 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2007 Will they be primary GP40FH-2 switchers only or will they perform mixed duties? Will they receive a special number or letter to designate them?
Eric Kreszl Posted August 21, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted August 21, 2007 Will they be primary GP40FH-2 switchers only or will they perform mixed duties? Will they receive a special number or letter to designate them? Here is what I know so far. 1. They will come back looking with the Green Goat Switcher appearance and WILL NOT be in the form of GP40FH-2's. They WILL NOT have the green goat engines. 2. They might be numbered in sequience with the MOW GP40-2 locomotive 4300 series but of course that an be changed at any time. 3. They most likely will Wander the system like the SW1500's did. Eric Kreszl Posted August 21, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 21, 2007 Hello, Let's how can I explain this easier. NJ Transit GP40FH-2 Locomotives #4130-4134 will not be coming back as GP40FH-2 locomotives at all. The locomotives will return with as a totally different locomotive. The locomotives that they will look like are similar to the new Green Goat switcher locomotives built by Railpower Technologies but have a normal diesel engine and will not be hybrid. Does this help?
