Anyone know whens the NEXT MTA Bus Operator Exam? or when do they usually have them? every YEAR or every TWO years after the previous exam?

Thanks

First of all, there are three [3] MTA Bus Companies:

~New York City Transit Department of Buses

~MaBSTOA (Manhattan and the Bronx Surface Transit...)

~MTA Bus Company (which was formerly the private bus companies, such as Green Bus Lines, Jamaica Bus Lines, etc.)

To answer your question, in general, civil service exams are given every four [4] years. To recap what happened with B/O exams 2613 and 4600 for NYC Transit:

Exam 2613 was given in January of 2013. The exam consisted of eighty [80] multiple choice questions. Between the amount of people passing this exam and the BOSS, which followed in June of that year, NYC Transit only got 3,617 candidates, which was a lot lower than expected. In response to this, they published Exam 4600 in late May, with filing open in during the month of August. Exam 4600 was given in December of 2013 and the BOSS was given this past October. The list for B/O exam 4600 has not been produced yet, since they are just past the half-way point with the 2613 list. My educated guess is that more people on the 4600 list, since that exam was a little easier (60 questions compared to 80).

Something similar happened with MaBSTOA with exams 3101 and 4105, however I'm not 100% sure of those details.

Therefore, to answer your question, it is probably going to be at least two years after the initial civil service exam for B/O 4600 was administered, so we are looking at December of 2015. However, depending on how fast the HR Department moves with the remainder of the list for B/O 2613, in addition to the list for B/O exam 4600, which has not been published yet, you are looking at possibly three years.

Hope this helps. Questions? Please do not hesitate to ask.
