Charleston Posted September 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2008 Since the X1 is a heavily used Staten Island express bus routes that travels along the heavily travelied Hylan BLvd corridor south of Clove Rd, are there any plans or has anyone heard of any plans to add 24 hour service to the X1 sometime in 2009. The TransitMan Posted September 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2008 Technically, the X1 is "somewhat" 24 hours already because the last X1 leaves Manhattan at around 2 or 3 AM and the first X1 leaves Staten Island at around 4 AM. There is like an hour break for the route. On weekends, it's different.
Luis1985 Posted September 29, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2008 im going to say yes because being that there are still customers that work late in the city and live in staten island, it beats from taking the Staten Island Ferry (which operates every hour at night.) and sometimes with the construction of the Fulton St Transit Center, the lines that leads you nearby to the South Ferry Area is always disrupted during late night hours. i think that they should make the X1 a 24/7 bus, but at least use the Base fare of $2.00 instead of $5.00, even though its an express route, its better than taking the ferry into Staten Island, and from there having to wait for another bus or the (SIR) at St. George.
