A 12-year-old girl was killed Friday night when she slipped on a patch of ice while crossing a Brooklyn street and was run over by a city bus, cops said.

"Her legs were tangled in the wheels and she was crushed," said a horrified witness. "It was terrible."

The young girl, who was not identified Friday night, was crossing north on Myrtle Ave. near Wyckoff Ave. in Bushwick just after 10 p.m. when she lost her footing and went under an oncoming B52 bus, witnesses said.

"She had a cell phone in her hand. She was probably talking on the phone," a witness said.

The bus was traveling east on Palmetto St. and turning onto Myrtle Ave. when the girl was struck by the right rear wheel of the bus, said Mark Groce, a transit spokesman.

"There were four guys trying to help her," said a witness. "One guy put his coat on her and started giving mouth-to-mouth."

A passerby ran over and stopped the bus.

The driver was unaware he had hit the the girl, sources said.

"When the driver came out, he saw her and fell in shock," said a witness.

The girl was rushed to Wyckoff Medical Center where she died, cops said.

"When the fire department came they were still trying to resuscitate her as they were taking her to the ambulance," said a witness.

"They did what they could, but there wasn't any movement."

The driver of the bus stayed at the scene and was not charged, cops said.
