xloakedx Posted April 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2009 Well as I was doing my normal commute, I was wondering, is there or was there any form of law or rule to cover the city with transit so that each individual was within certain amount of distance from a train station that they can ride to to their destination? I know everyone is within certain reasonable distance from a bus stop or train, but I'm not counting buses.
metsfan Posted April 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2009 Not that i can remember. IRT and BMT were privately owned, IND was city owned. They may have had laws applying to the transit system itself, but not where stations go etc. Also remember laws or not, they wanted the system to be a LOT bigger than it is today. - A
MTR Admiralty Posted April 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 2, 2009 There were plans for that, not rules. The IND Second System would put every person with 1/2 mile of the nearest train station.
