  1. The X32 was an express route that ran between eastern Queens and Bronx Science High School. It was eliminated in the 2010 service cuts. It had 3 round trips each day. One trip started from 165 St Bus Terminal in Jamaica, one started from Springfield Blvd and Union Turnpike Oakland Gardens, and another from 23 Av and Bell Blvd in Bay Terrace. A lot of kids commute from eastern Queens to the specialized high schools and the X32 served those kids going to Bronx Science. The X32 was a fast alternative to the otherwise long commute from eastern Queens to Bronx Science HS: a local bus out from eastern Queens to the (7) in Flushing or the (E) or (F) in Jamaica, then taking those trains to Midtown and transferring to the (4) or (D) to Bedford Park Blvd in the Bronx. If you lived near the X32 but far from the subway, the X32 would get you to Bronx Science High School in a little over an hour, compared to going through Manhattan which would take over 90 minutes.

Just some trivia: In 2008 or so, a counterpart to the Q44 route, the Q94, was proposed. This Q94 would run between Flushing and Fordham Plaza in the Bronx, but some weekday trips would be extended to serve Bronx Science High School, just like what the Bx22 route does today. The Q94 would replace the X32 in providing service between Queens and Bronx Science High School, but the route was never created.

Those kids get yellow buses from what I've heard and (correct me if I'm wrong) probably did even before the X32 was cut, so it was barely used. I saw a video of a ride on that bus with an ex-NYBS/Green Lines suburban Orion V and literally no one was on it.

I think all the X32s were ran from Casey Stengel and only used those O5s.

  2. Yesterday they didn't even put it on the 139. They put it on the 64H.

EDIT: Yeah I see what you mean. I just saw it on MyBusNow heading into Port Authority.

How's this numbering sequence supposed to go? I thought it would be 7278-7400, but then I realized that leaves the other 36 buses out of the equation.

The buses replacing the DesignLine order will probably go along with that number sequence...7215-7277

  3. I am not defending him. But 95 percent of NJ people don't go to NYC everyday to work. So he probably went with most of the voters who don't want to spend all that money on something they may never or rarely use.

People who want a stress free, short and less expensive commute to work should move back to the city. There's some nice areas to raise your family as well as good schools across the 5 boroughs, but sadly a good portion of the people who left for NJ did it because they are racist and afraid of their kids growing up with a diverse group of people (they'll even move to a different town/school district if theirs becomes too diverse). You leave for bumf*ck NJ thinking your kids will end up so much better, you pay the price with the high taxes, long commutes and high fares, and all that, don't complain about any of that stuff because it was your choice to move to there.

I'm not saying an effort shouldn't be made by these agencies (NJT, PA, etc) to give these people a decent commute by doing things like the Gateway tunnel and improving the PABT, but people really need to stop complaining. Even with the Gateway tunnel or a new PABT your commute will still be over an hour, there's still gonna be delays at the tunnel/station because of congestion and it's still likely gonna cost you over $300 a month.

  4. I saw that. I'm with the commuter.

Love how with the Portal Bridge and Meadowlands fires along with every other tunnel-related delay he still stands by his decision to scrap ARC. It's like I said in the AC thread, he doesn't care about his taxpayers.

Not connecting with Penn was a bad idea. Gateway sounds much better IMO.
  5. Aaaanyways that Bay Plaza was a f**kin mess tonight. Going there I didn't have any issues but that's cause I took the Bx23 and walked, saw a long line of cars coming in and the Bx12s were all jam packed. Leaving around 8PM it was a MOB of cars and people trying to leave. The Bx12 line was like something I've never seen before, every bus went out SRO leaving another SRO load behind and the buses were all late. By the time we got out onto Bartow it took us 20 minutes. Would've been much better off walking to Bartow and taking a Bx23 or Q50 to the (6), empty bus and just a bit of traffic until you get off Bartow.

That place ain't even that much, only a few places are open but it was mobbed like Black Friday in there.

  6. Saw an ex rockland cusa njt bus doing a charter in ac. Interesting our buses are getting ran down doing charters especially by academy and many njt garages are short on mcis. But its the the only way njt can keep competition at bay.

That would be Saddle River. Kinda surprised, they seem to have a lot of (pretty nice looking) Prevosts for their charters.
  7. Some kinda interesting news, the Port Authority has awarded NYCT a contract for AirTrain busing at JFK...

    http://www.panynj.gov/business-opportunities/ca-contracts-awarded.html

I'm gonna guess this will just be supplementing the PA's own buses. It's a relatively small contract award ($27,000) and don't see any of the PA's Orions going anywhere, maybe they finally got they need more buses than they have during those Airtrain shutdowns, those can be complete chaos especially when it's a full shutdown. Anyways look out for the MTA during future AirTrain shuttles...hopefully they'll send out artics cause they sure as hell need em and maybe ATU at JFK Depot won't have a problem with it like they do with subway shuttle work so they can get those D60s from right across the street.

  8. No they're not... They're on loan to UP for the G Shuttle. 4922 was run 035 all day it was on the B1, I rode it & I have pictures of it. 9685 just

Pulled in off the 36, it has GA stickers and 4956 is at UP also but they're not staying it's just for the week.

Why would UP get loaners for that shuttle and not Casey Stengel? Wouldn't they be the "prime depot" for that?

Then again that's not the weirdest move I saw for subway shuttles, Flatbush was the only depot to get loaners (LFSAs) specifically for the (A) shuttle to Far Rock unless you count College Point keeping a bunch of farebox less O5 CNGs for it and Stengel keeping 1305/1306 for a while.
