  1. I used to take pictures over there a lot they didn't bother me. He probably said that for the fact that it's near an airport maybe?

I was AT the Central Terminal, so yeah, it's possible. If you take pictures off airport grounds they probably don't bother you since it's the NYPD's problem and not the PA's.

Can't spell Paranoid without PA... I still smh at the photo ban on Path.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't say photography wasn't allowed because of that rule (which also applies to AirTrain at JFK and EWR and probably other areas too).

  2. That is the general rule. Take your few pics and keep moving. I never stand in the same spot for more than a minute especially near a bus depot. Now if this was at a general bus stop, it's up to you.

I usually don't care about sitting around taking pics at most spots in the city, hell I've done it in front of the NYPD plenty of times. I guess it's just the wonderful PA at work as usual.

  3. Went over to LaGuardia today, and got stopped by a Port Authority cop. To my surprise he actually didn't tell me to stop taking pictures, which is typical PAPD. Apparently I was "making people nervous", though I didn't see anyone report me to the cop who was standing nearby. At least the guy was nice...

Just warning anyone planning on busfanning at LGA, my advice: don't stay too long and don't take pictures if you see the PAPD nearby.

  4. Jesus, go easy on Piney.

MTA Long Island Bus would've been better had Nassau County properly funded it's bus system. Is Veolia doing a better job with a smaller budget than LIB? Yes they are. Still I think stuff like maintanance suffers because of Nassau's refusal to provide a greater subsidy. This has been holding back bus service for years, with every Executive since Gulotta! I just would've liked to have seen Mangano agree to properly fund bus service. MTA Long Island Bus was set to be integrated with MTA Bus, but when push came to shove the County refused to work with the MTA and hence NICE was born. Nassau doesn't need the MTA to run a good bus system, one only has to look to Westchester's Bee-Line as a good example of a public-private partnership. But thats because Westchester doesn't keep cutting it's bus budget!

Veolia has been able to run more service under a lower budget than the MTA would have, but you do have to look at the quality of the service. Bus bunching has gotten much worse, often there will be 2 or 3 buses in a row (I've seen this almost everyday on the n22), and I can definately say the buses are more off schedule than they were with the MTA because the already short running times and layovers have been made even shorter. But this is how Veolia saves money. And yes I'd still rather have it this way than a skeleton system under the MTA, I'm certainly not that crazy!

Westchester also doesn't hire a multinational conglomerate to operate its buses, they hire a company based IN the county that provides service ONLY in that county, which is very smart since it helps their local economy and Liberty Lines provides damn good service and keeps their buses sparkly clean. I don't see their system being what it is now if Liberty was replaced with a major corporation like Veolia or MV. Mangano should have looked into some local companies, even local school bus companies like ST uses, but he only considered MV, First, and Veolia, the big conglomerates that never knew Nassau County until the privatization bid was put out.

  5. Here's another interesting one:

J.png No trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan

shuttle_bus.png Free shuttle buses provide alternative service via the Williamsburg Bridge

Weekend, 5:45 AM to 8 PM, Sat and Sun, Oct 27 - 28

    Service operates in two sections:

    1. Between Jamaica Center and Hewes St

    2. Between Essex St and Chambers St, every 15 minutes

Shuttle buses run between Hewes St and Essex St, stopping at Marcy Av.

    • Transfer between trains and buses at Hewes St and/or Essex St.

I think I'll be over there for that, I'm real interested to see what buses go out on that shuttle.

  6. they are doing the swap as we speak, BTW i heard that the R42 is staying, Idk how true that is but I heard from alot of people that the R42 might stay, and one of the Jamaica R46's went back to Jamaica yard and an OOS R44 (scrap) went to 207th yd

IDK how that will play out, they have 10 cars on that train. They gonna keep it on the (A), put it on the (C) with 10 cars or send a pair back to ENY and put it on the (C) with 8 cars?
