  1. I'm sure there's still capacity left over on the Brighton to accommodate a second local service. After all, the operates roughly every 6 minutes during rush hours.
  2. Not a great idea. Learned that lesson the hard way by learning that most customers prefer Midtown service than a line along Second Avenue. You might want to save the file in a different format so the track map could be visible.
  3. Here's a map of the X Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1lxW4P9UU30ls-QIVc3GW47_ZGz_C2I5k&ll=40.691649136100985%2C-74.0161341433277&z=12
  4. I like your first proposal, though I'd name it the X for Crosstown. It would make all stops to Bedford-Nostrand Avenues before getting onto the route of the former Franklin Shuttle to the and trains at Prospect Park. From there it would make all local stops to Brighton Beach. My proposed service plan for the X is as follows: Weekdays: Court Square to Brighton Beach Late nights and weekends: Bedford-Nostrand Avenues to Prospect Park
  5. Saw a similar route called the B34 LTD in this PDF: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:a7144cfb-34b0-4521-87ca-f33f64688021
  6. With the Brooklyn bus redesign on hold due to COVID, I decided to create my own redesigns of a couple of routes, also incorporating some of BrooklynBus's ideas: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=19acmEg3DdGcyUw57Ps6sQzEXrLSGEa3a&usp=sharing Things to note: B6 LTD replaced by new B79 LTD from Avenue J/Coney Island Avenue to JFK Airport B6 and B103 rerouted to Avenue L in Canarsie Paedergat branch of B17 now B19, operating rush hours only to/from Rockaway Parkway station B15 (B10 in map) cut back to Drew Street/Linden Boulevard; service to JFK Airport replaced by new B79 LTD Some B103 LTD stops have been eliminated; local service provided by rerouted B6
  7. Too bad the old El was demolished back in '73. If the MTA was more willing to invest in refurbishing the El to accommodate heavier cars and longer trains, it would've been hugely beneficial for Bronxites living along the corridor. Rather than waiting on the SAS to get built, a smarter idea would've been to connect it to the Lexington Avenue Line at Third Avenue-138th Street and have the (8) train operate as a local alongside the (6). One chief disadvantage, however, would be eliminating express service along the Pelham Line to allow for more frequent service along the local stations so track capacity on Lex could be shared with the (8).
  8. Any disadvantages with routing it along either Webster or Park Avenue?
  9. I planned to provide a free walking transfer to the at 149th and Concourse at the planned stop on Morris. You still think moving the line further east to Third would work out better?
  10. I created a map of the possible service changes that could take place based on suggestions I followed from here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1rQ6IiFv1ENgDzQCErJSQ9MIATRx3X95v&ll=40.71230091871264%2C-73.97304150097146&z=11
  11. A to the Bronx and a new to Brooklyn via Fulton Street could certainly work out, too. The could start at 55th Street and operate fully local to Euclid Avenue with overnight service extended to Lefferts Boulevard.
  12. As mentioned before, I would also extend the to Brooklyn via the Fulton Street Line as a successor to the local, which would become an express to Lefferts Boulevard and replace trains; the from this point on would become a Rockaways-only route with alternate trains terminating at Howard Beach.
  13. That could work out well too, if building a transfer to the would not be as difficult as I originally thought. What are your thoughts on a to the Bronx? JeremiahC99 suggests an extension to Throggs Neck via Hunts Point is the way to go, while my suggestion is to extend it to Fordham Plaza along the Metro-North ROW.
  14. One issue with building it all the way to Broadway: the high altitude of the station could make it too expensive to build a transfer passageway from the . One reason I suggested an interlocking with the at 125th and St. Nicholas is to make better use of spare track capacity along the northernmost portion of the 8th Avenue Line. In addition to this, a to Dyckman could provide a one-seat ride to the east side of Manhattan for residents of Washington Heights and Inwood without having to transfer.
  15. That is certainly a good service plan to start, especially since Fulton's capacity is currently underutilized at present-day service levels even before the pandemic began. Better yet, have trains replace the to Lefferts overnight and extend the route beyond the planned northern terminus for the SAS (125th Street and Lex) to operate crosstown to the station at Saint Nicholas. From there a new junction to the outer express tracks at 135th Street could also be built to allow for trains to continue via the to Dyckman Street where it will gain access to the 207th Street Yard. During overnight hours the would make all stops north of 125th Street. Meanwhile, I would have the branch off after 116th Street (Second Avenue) into a new line serving the Bronx. However, I'm unsure whether it's better to route it to Fordham Plaza or along Lafayette Avenue to Throggs Neck.
  16. As in somewhere unserved by existing subways like Southeast Bronx or Utica Avenue in Brooklyn?
  17. If the ever comes to life, could that pave the way for a Queens Boulevard bypass? While a lofty goal, the big doubt is the cost of building the line along the LIRR right-of way to Forest Hills.
  18. Hello, I would like to change my username to Armandito, which used to be my childhood nickname. Thanks
  19. If that's so, how did the S89 come to life?
  20. With Staten Island being the closest of the five boroughs to Newark Airport, I wonder why the S98 Limited hasn't been extended to serve it. Could it be because there's not enough potential demandd? That'smy guess.
  21. One question about the elevated subways in NY: why are they all painted green? Just curious
  22. Does anyone know why almost all of the elevated structures of the subway are painted green?
  23. Now that leaves me wondering, how the f*ck are some LIRR employees milking for so much overtime hours they realistically wouldn't be able to work? I have no clue as to what methods they use to cheat the system 🙄
