  1. Here's the map of the route I promised to upload earlier, this time with the two new stops at Jersey Street and Cebra Avenue: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1CdxFbbL_oT5GY6NDb8so1YSEO13Q1aLu&ll=40.666015440073224%2C-74.15200250239428&z=11
  2. You mean the S99 should run local between the ferry terminal and Bay Street/Victory Boulevard?
  3. Because most of the route would run in NY, which means the MTA would be in charge of it.
  4. In this scenario, rather than modifying an existing LTD route, I'd create a new LTD route that would run 24/7 from St. George to EWR via Forest Avenue every 30 minutes days and evenings, and every 60 minutes overnight. It would be designated as the S99 and make the same stops as the S98 LTD east of Richmond Avenue. After crossing the Goethals Bridge, it would run nonstop to the airport. The bus would serve a few nearby hotels as well. A map of the proposed route would be uploaded soon.
  5. Of course they matter, the issue is if there is enough latent demand for a bus route between Staten Island and EWR, which I don't know much about. When I first proposed the route, I wanted it to run from Eltingville because that part of the island is further away from key access points toward the rest of NYC.
  6. Like the B9, not all B80 buses have to run the entire route. I'd have buses from Bay Ridge short-turn at the station at Kings Highway during early morning and late evening hours as the B9 does at Flatbush Avenue/Avenue L.
  7. Now the issue here is what to do with the B2. That route has seen better days, and in more recent decades has experienced falling ridership. Some might say to keep the B2 as is, but it could get a ridership boost by being extended westward as BrooklynBus suggested with one of his route proposals.
  8. If that's the case, I'd leave the B9 at Flatbush Avenue/Avenue L and have the B80 serve as the sole Bay Ridge-Kings Plaza route. Flatbush Avenue south of the trains is already well-served by the B41 and Q35, and the B9 only serves KP during the daytime.
  9. I would also add in overnight service to the Bergen Beach branch of the B41 when the B9 isn't running.
  10. At first I was skeptical about such an extension as it would seem to duplicate the B8 along its eastermost segment, but since Canarsie Plaza is quite underserved, that could make up for the duplication. Instead of the B79, would a B14 reroute to the be ideal? After all, a B14 extension to Parkside Avenue could be an alternative to the B12 for East New York commuters, at least on paper.
  11. This route is supposed to replace the B64 and B70 routes.
  12. While the B9 reroute could work, I'd like to know what to do with the northern end of my B66 proposal, as in finding an alternate place to terminate it instead of routing it to Brooklyn College. What could you say about the B79? This was my alternative to BrooklynBus's idea of extending the B16 all the way to Brownsville.
  13. It's supposed to be an extension of the regular B36 route via Avenue U, but a glitch on Google Maps somehow erased my route modifications and routed it along Belt Parkway, so I had to start over.
  14. Question: where should the B66 end if Brooklyn College wouldn't be an ideal terminus? Just to let you know, the B72 between Greenwood Heights and Coney Island was borrowed from BrooklynBus's B66 proposal to merge the lightly used B64 and B70 routes into a single route that could run more frequently and attract ridership over time. With the B80, I decided to extend the B31 instead of the B2 because merging it with the latter would make it more or less redundant to the B9 which already serves Kings Plaza and has drained some ridership away from the B2 after it was extended from Flatlands in the 90s. While KP already has lots of buses going to different parts of Brooklyn, isolated Gerritsen Beach commuters could get more transfer opportunities if the B31 was to be extended. In other words, I'd rather leave the B2 alone. For the B67 extension to Borough Park, this was another idea derived from BrooklynBus, though his proposal suggests extending the B69 instead (which has lower ridership than the B67). It's supposed to replace the 16th Avenue portion of the defunct B23 while the B66 replaces the portion east of the train at McDonald Avenue.
  15. Giving some credit to @BrooklynBus for getting access to some ideas from his Tripod website (http://brooklynbus.tripod.com/index.html) to incorporate into my own Brooklyn bus route revisions: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=18mGoG746Zx6tbzpTHZR242h2BPicrg1j&ll=40.64129123690907%2C-73.9444605048821&z=12 (Note that I changed some of BrooklynBus's routing ideas here)
  16. So that proposal can just be scrapped. Now that brings me here--though the S74/84 and S78 already serve Bricktown Mall, their respective corridors leave a gap in bus service along Amboy Road. Although Amboy Road lies more or less parallel to the SIR, most stations along the SIR aren't ADA accessible, and given the presence of Tottenville HS on Luten Avenue and Monsignor Ferrell HS at Tysens Lane, there could be some decent ridership from students traveling to and from their classes. However, I'm not so sure if a bus along Amboy Road could work in the same manner as routes like the B25 along Fulton Street, the B37 along Third Avenue, the Q56 along Jamaica Avenue, or the Q60 along Queens Boulevard.
  17. Staten Island lies in close proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport, so why not have a LTD bus operate between the Forgotten Borough and New York's third major airport? If such a route were to exist, I'd run it daily from Hylan Boulevard along Richmond Avenue via the Staten Island Mall, Goethals Bridge, NJ Turnpike, and US Highway 1, making limited stops on Staten Island and operating nonstop to the airport once it crosses into NJ. Now my question is, would it work? The MTA created the M60 from scratch back in 1992 and now it's a very busy route, so I suppose something similar might happen with a new route between Staten Island and EWR...
  18. @BM5 via Woodhaven I've been working on my own map of Brooklyn bus route revisions but I can't show it here because it's the wrong thread.
  19. That's the B67's part-time weekday terminal in real life, and there's really not much capacity left at WBP for another bus route anyway. Also note that I added in the following two new routes to the map: B12: Alabama Avenue to Kings County Hospital via East New York Avenue and Empire Boulevard B79: Rockaway Parkway subway station to Parkside Avenue via Remsen Avenue and Clarkson Avenue Both routes would operate 24/7.
  20. @LaGuardia Link N Tra have you seen my Brooklyn bus revisions link on Google Maps yet?
  21. Most likely yes. I doubt the MTA would be willing to replace those archaic stops, given that Queens is arguably "the other forgotten borough" in their minds.
  22. 2006, the year the MTA Bus Company was founded from the consolidation of the DOT's private bus franchises--Command Bus Company, Green Bus Lines, Jamaica Buses, Queens Surface, and Triboro Coach.
  23. You'll also see a link to a southern Brooklyn bus redesign I shared a few posts ago, with some ideas borrowed from member BrooklynBus through his Tripod website. You're more than welcome to check it out too
  24. Penelope Avenue is very narrow, which means buses would have a difficult time navigating the entirety of the street. Other then that, I think the Q38 should either be split or converted into a loop route. It's the most circuitous bus route in the city...
  25. How I would restructure South Brooklyn's bus network: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=18mGoG746Zx6tbzpTHZR242h2BPicrg1j&ll=40.666304173117766%2C-73.97955710573365&z=12 (Note that I borrowed some ideas from BrooklynBus's website I posted previously)
