no sir i am taking about vacation days. If you started in jan, feb or march it doesn't effect you cause you'll get your full 2 weeks for 2014. You are correct about the sick days, you get 1 for every full month completed. The difference is those are available as soon as you complete the month. Trust me, i am 100% sure about the vacation days. I only have 1 day off this year. If you want additional days off you can save your overtime hours (aka oto) or save your vacation days (aka ava). you don't get any vacation days your first year. You will accrue 1 day for every full month you work for the following year. For example if you start this month, you would have 6 days to use in 2014. actually i think the rule reads you must have a rule book available during your tour of duty. It doesn't say anything about having it on you at all times while on duty. Remember the rules could be used to your advantage too.

i got hired in November, been out of school car for over a month. One of my class mates got a letter last week saying his background check was complete and he is qualified. Had my first track fire today. It was interesting, pm rush south of grand central. Train was packed and i had to shut down the hvac. I then sat there and watched the fire burn while control asked if its safe to go past. Had 2 superintendents walk down from 42 and put it out. It all turned out ok. there wasn't an eye chart. You just look into a machine and they test everything from vision to depth perception to color blindness. If you wear glasses they do the test with and without your glasses. If you know you need glasses your best bet is to get them before your medical. If you fail the vision and they say you need glasses, they will put you on medical hold until you get them. By the time you get them and go back to be retested that may put you into a later class. That means you'll lose seniority that you would have had. And let me tell you seniority is everything down here. It determines when you can pick a job, your days off, your vacation and more.
