  1. LIRR Preliminary Fantasy Plan:

    Electrify the main line to River Road (Just east of Yaphank), and extend Ronkonkoma trains to Yaphank. (Signals would be added)

    The Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, and Greenport branches are merged, with new stations on the un-built tracks. (Select rush hour trains run via the Huntington Branch) (Non-peak trains connect to Huntington Branch @Huntington)

    West Hempstead Branch extended to Hempstead

    Hempstead Branch after Country Life Press runs on new trackage to Babylon (with new stations being added in the process)

    Hempstead Branch also does NOT run on the mainline, running through Central Queens, merging at Woodside (with new stops of course)

    And that's all I have right now

  2. There are contractors on standby for shuttle service at LIRR and MNR, but MTA can send out NYCT/MTAB in addition to or instead of them as they see fit. Obviously some contractors were brought in here, but the bulk of the work is being done by NYCT and MTA Bus.

    Few weeks ago I believe the Hempstead branch of the LIRR was out/skipping stations in Queens, and Baisley Park was running that shuttle and not one of the contractors.

    Then what's the point of them then? IIRC, they get paid a fixed amount no matter how often they're pulled out, so why not use them as much as possible?

  3. Only Spring Creek, JFK and Far Rock are prohibited from shuttle work because of an injunction their union got, which is weird because I heard they were doing the Euclid-Howard Beach shuttle last week. CP runs the (A) shuttle every weekday with Orion V CNGs.

    I've seen a quite a few JFK buses do the (A) shuttle, is there an exception for that one?

  4. In order to speed up work on the Queen Blvd Line, the MTA decides to shut down the entire Queen Blvd Line from Jamaica Center and Jamaica 179 St to 42 St PABT, 21 St Queensbridge, and Lexington Av/59 St. Work will take place from 9 p.m Friday to 5 a.m Monday. Lines affected (E)  (F)  (M)  (R). Reroute trains:

    This would also effect the (B)(D) and (N)(Q), so here goes

    (B) Ends early

    (D) Via 8th Ave Local, southbound trains to CI via Culver

    (E) Suspended

    (F) CI-Roosevelt Island (Every other CI-bound train turns at Kings Highway due to capacity issues at CI)

    (M) Shuttle starts early

    (N) 5th Ave-CI

    (Q) Service to Astoria ends early

    (R) Bay Ridge-5th Ave

    (S) Queensboro Plaza-Astoria

    (7) Bypasses 74th St due to crowding issues

    EDIT: 42nd St (S) Runs overnight along with extra service to accommodate Broadway Line customers going to Lexington Avenue

    Q60 buses will be running twice as often at all times, and run to PABT via 53rd St.

    The Q102 will also run twice as often, at all times

    SHUTTLE BUSES:

    Express shuttle bus stopping at all (F) line stops east of 71st St, Jamaica Van Wyck, and Roosevelt Island

    Local shuttle bus stopping at all (R) line stops, 21st Street-Queensbridge, and Lexington Avenue 59th Street

    Shuttle buses are free, and will run every minute.

  5. As a pedestrian, you guys wouldn't believe how many altercations I've been in throughout my life, mainly due to people that couldn't use common sense.

    Came literally less than a foot away from getting plowed down by a car once.

    So i'm running late to school, so i'm running to school. Well there are a few side streets that T into Delaware, which was the street I was running on. The side streets are only a block long, and all have stop signs. So because of that I thought that I wouldn't have to stop before every T, which would slow me down substantially. But no, some idiot comes barreling along at 45MPH, and stops literally five inches away from me, and then honks at me. He would've side swiped a school bus on Delaware anyways. What an idiot.

  6. Regarding my above post

    Forgot to mention after the third car I said "Oh look, there's more" and the guy was like "You just love the attention don't you". I think i'm going to file a complaint about this guy, because he was just being a pure a**hole. You could tell he wasn't doing it to "protect" the people, he was doing it to be an ass. I mean seriously, damn, I would expect that from a hall monitor in a public school not someone from a "respected" institution. Actually, TBH, the hall monitors never once questioned me when I did at Hackett, only the students, and the students at the "unnamed institution" don't even care. Hell, I think one of them photobombed, and besides that one guy was just like "Huh, that was weird." And yet again, it's be one thing if he had said "Look, it's too suspicious, (I think we can all guess the activity at this point) I need you to leave", but no, it was literally "I don't like what you're doing, you need to get the f**k off of our property and never come back." And i'm like "Dude, I live a block away, how am I supposed to "never come back?" I get that I don't look 13, but I explained to him earlier, why I was there, and that I go to Hackett, so obviously i'm not 18 or some shit like that. And he didn't even say anything about me not being able to do it. Like WTF? I think in my pictures I got ONE student in at the most (haven't put them on my comp yet) and that's no reason to go nuts ya know? What an a**hole. As I said, it'd be one thing if he was trying to protect the students, even if he did it in a rude way, but no, it was pure a**holeisim right there. I regret not taking down his name, but I highly doubt he would've given it to me, and not use it as an argument against me.

    Also; The 15 minute block on editing is gone again! yay!

    @Astoria Line

    Have you considered interning at a small transit agency like TOR, or SCT? The worst they can say is no, and in the process, you might even get to know one of the higher-ups  ;)

  7. I made the absolutely horrible mistake today of thinking that a sidewalk on a public street was city property. Silly me.  :rolleyes:

    Not going to go into detail here out of respect of the police officers, who were really chill about the whole situation, but this a**hole starts giving me crap about how I need to "Get the f off of the property, when A. I was on the sidewalk and B. I was leaving (and he knew that) until the guy pulled me over telling me to get off of property. Apparently, I was in the wrong because the sidewalk for 100 feet in either direction is their property  but how am I supposed to know that? There's absolutely no indication of it, and as I said, it's a PUBLIC street. Yeah, i'm normally really calm, friendly, and apolegitec when someone harrases me like that, but the moment you say I have to leave public property, and you're not an authority figure? Yeah i'm going to open a verbal can of whoop-ass. And now i'm thinking what if I wanna use that street to get to a certain place (it saves well over half the time compared to going around, but yet again, public street), or better yet, what if I wanna go to my friends softball practice (not that I have any intention to) am I going to have to "get the f**k of property"? Oh and to make this whole thing even better, the a different guy told me last time, "as long as you're on the sidewalk it's ok." Do you know what the guy said when I told him that? "Yeah, well he's not *point to himself* this guy." SO? A co-worker of yours gave me rules, and I followed them. Whatever. I'm an all-honors student, I don't need that crap.  <_< (Also, what pissed me off the most out of all of this, was because he called the cops after I "refused to leave" when as I said, he pulled me over, and said he wanted to talk to me, just so he could say get off the property. Then all I said, was "I don't have to, i'm on a sidewalk which is public property." And I was about to walk away, but he said "That's it, i'm calling the cops" and I wasn't gonna leave then, because that would look extraordinarily bad for me.) Yet again though, I wanna thank the P/O's who showed up, for being very calm about the whole thing, and giving me a chance to speak. Thumbs up to all of you guys. (Actually, from what i've seen, most of the cops in Albany are actually really nice and unerstanding.)

    =======================================================

    Another rant!

    So, my friend told me yesterday that the teacher said (been out all week due to sickness) if everybody hands in their current events, and the past ones they missed, that the whole class wouldn't have to do them for the rest of the year. She also said that the teacher specifically mentioned me. So, I wake up around ~9:30 (no point in waking up early if you're sick) and since my internet is acting up, not wanting to be that one guy who screws it up for everybody (even though I have no doubt in my mind there were at least three people who didn't do it) so, despite being sick, I grab my laptop and trek to the library. Well after sending them all in, I walk home, and apparently my teacher saw me (a different one) so apparently somehow, I was brought up in conversation, and he goes "Yeah, I just saw him roaming the streets." I know the faculty doesn't know i'm sick, (even though my mom has called the school three times about it, but it still keeps getting listed as "Unexcused Absence") but that was just disrespectful. Man, what kills me is that he's my third favorite teacher i've had this year, and i'm just surprised he would do that. So now people keep e-mailing me saying "he saw you" or whatevs shit like that, and I keep telling them "IM SICK, I JUST NEEDED TO GET THAT DAMN ASSIGNMENT DONE" Luckily my friend who knows i'm sick, (the other one is in Jersey) stood up for me, because I told her yesterday that I would have to go to the library to get it sent. So now we're up to at least two teachers who think, or at least thought I somehow managed to skip for a week. I don't care though, this teacher is still up there in my book  :lol:

    Carry on...

  8. f**k me right now  :angry:

    So I've been sick for a week, and I figured since I can't go to school, I could go fan the Bishop Maginn tripper, because it only runs during school hours. Well, I finally remember 4 minutes before it leaves, so I just put the first SD card I could find in my camera, and it says there's room on it, so i'm like "Huh, that's odd, I don't remember clearing this one out." So I run (well, really walking until I saw the bus was already there) all the way to Bishop Maginn, turn on my camera and it says "MEMORY CARD FULL". In a frugal attempt to take a picture, I took out the SD card, hoping there was still space left on the camera, but sure enough, no luck. GODDAMIT.

    That could've very well been my last chance too, because I may be going back to that hellhole I call school tomorow.  :angry:

    Forgot to mention: I forgot to go every single day the weather wasn't atrocious. (And of course, I didn't go when the weather was bad, ya know, being sick and all.

  9. From my friend Ceirra;

    Okay so lets get this straight. Movies are labeled as rated R because of nudity and sexual content. But in kid movies like Mulan or Ariel the little mermaid, character is straight up killing ponies. Pg 13 movies that include, the ring, one missed call and poltergeist are movies that involve multiple deaths that are pretty gruesome are more appropriate than watching two ponies do the dirty. I'm not saying it shouldn't be rated as high, but how did sex, which is a natural part of life, become more inappropriate than murder, which is ILLEGAL and a pretty devastating way to die. Parents are okay with their kids watching ponies die, but when their foals watch two ponies go at it, it's officially a problem.

  10. While we're on the subject, my mailman sucks. He never checks anybody's mailbox, unless he has something to put in them, even if the flag thingy is up. Luckily, there is a mailbox a few blocks away, so whenever anybody has to mail something, we just go directly to the mailbox down the street.
