  1. Wait...you got a pre-employment letter in October? I assume you've taken at least one drug test correct? CALL THEM NOW. I went for my pre-employment at the end of October, heard nothing...called a little after Christmas and was told of a hiring freeze...called a few weeks later when my drug test expired and the lady actually took the time to pull my file: THEY HAD EMAILED ME A WEEK AFTER I WENT IN OCTOBER FOR FINAL PROCESSING TO BE IN THE DECEMBER CLASS...and sent that email to an address one frigging letter off - that apparently exists so it didn't get kicked back - and they assumed I passed on the job. I ended up going for drug testing 2x more...started April 9th. If you never got a snail mail letter disqualifying you then that call/email was erroneous. Of note: apparently once they do FINALLY establish the damn list I would have been called again once they reached my number. However...I beg you...follow up with them PRONTO, in case they screwed up with you as they did with me!
  2. Right on the exam info page on the MTA website. Just means you need to babysit the site to see when filing for it will be now. Perhaps they figured they might actually certify 6600 first... 🙄🙄
  3. It means if you didn't get a letter in the mail already saying you were disqualified then they screwed up. They sent the mass call/email to people who shouldn't have gotten it.
  4. When I went for orientation on day 1 the exams unit's excuse as to why the list was not certified had to do with the fact that 30k people took the test and they had to evaluate the education/experience papers. Whether or not that is the whole reason, one can only wonder - however remember you had to file for that test with a paper packet...so it's not like they could parse this ish on a computer.
  5. If you haven't gotten a pre-employment letter or a rejection letter then you will get a letter saying what your spot is on the list whenever they get around to establishing it.
  6. Back when I started, the exam unit's excuse for not certifying the test was that they hadn't gone thru everyone's experience papers...I wonder if they're actually going to certify soon. To add to what the poster above said...when you fill out your 21pg life story packet you basically have to reiterate the same stuff you put on the education paper when you filed. If in the intervening 3 years you now meet the requirements, by all means file for the new test.
  7. Between picks when they redid file numbers for seniority, my number got 200+ better...and that was in 3 months. People are retiring in droves and if/when the station agent job morphs into wayfinder A LOT of old timers want nothing to do with that...if you have someone with 26 years who is planning on hanging around to hit 30 to max out their pension before the percentage gain each year becomes more aggravation, getting them out of the booth could be the final straw and have them pull those walking papers out of their pockets and just go.
  8. November 2015 test...the list for which STILL has yet to be established. It's not really anything to study for...basic math, timetable reading, and common sense. Either you know what they want you to know or you don't.
  9. I had to chase down 2 paper checks. Meanwhile the people who didn't follow directions and went home to set up direct deposit on the first day of work got direct deposit right off the bat. Go figure. I don't miss going to Marble Hill at 4:30am before going to class to get my check because picking it up on the way home would miss the deposit cutoff for my bank... 🙄🙄
  10. All training is days. As for the in house pick it depends what OSAC gives the instructor. My whole class got Wed & Thurs RDOs but the amount of slots per tour was fairly even. Our instructor did say he has had classes where everyone was the same RDOs and tour so there wasn't much to pick. I was first to pick in my class and got PMs which is what I wanted.
  11. Oh just wait, after about two weeks you'll be jaded to the excuses and ridiculousness displayed by some of the public 😂😂
  12. This is getting to be ridiculous...conductor was established, and they're mailing results but allegedly not establishing the the list until July or so for train operator which I took exactly a year ago today...and guess what test was first? Lol I mean I'm happy I'm in but this provisional nonsense is just that...nonsense!
  13. On my way home now...I think my letter's waiting. #8xx with a 93...maybe I didn't do as bad as I thought then!
  14. Blue buttondown...not polo and dark blue or black pants. Uniform order came within a week, however they seemed to send whatever they damn well pleased with regard to sizes so most of it had to go back.
  15. All depends who else is in your class...I was #5 in a class of 30s and 40s...and yes I picked first
  16. Not saying this to be a jerk: but if 7a-3pm in Brooklyn daily is a problem...getting forced to PMs or Midnights with crappy RDOs depending on how your in-house pick plays out with your schedule varying by the day isn't going to be pleasant either. You're essentially going to be transit's bitch until you have enough seniority to not be. AMs was the first tour to close out in our class, and there were plenty of people salty that they got forced to midnights. It sounded like wayfinder was at least a steady schedule...we don't have that luxury...it's extra on a tour with certain RDOs. You could be starting at 0300 (there is an AM lunch relief that starts that early) or as late as 1000 on the AM tour with various starting hours in between...and our instructor explained that when it comes to the in-house pick he is at OSAC's mercy as to what they kick him for jobs. (One class was ALL midnights) Just prepare yourself and since you have a little time before class starts, think about how you're going to accomodate the uncertainty if you have kids or whatever.
  17. Our instructor told us the class before ours filled the rest of the wayfinder slots and they're locked in for a year so no...into the booth for you lol I wouldn't have minded Wayfinder, was told there *might* be some jobs on the Winter 2019 pick.
  18. FWIW: when the instructor's boss came in to talk to us and explain what exactly being on probation is and so forth: he stated that there are 5 scheduled classes behind mine...so there's still a few on the horizon for people still waiting to hear. As for list establishment...nobody knows. Have heard anything ranging from next month to the end of the year and beyond. The exams unit people who spoke to us at orientation the firsr day claim that they're "almost done" evaluating everyone's experience papers and that's what the hold up is with regard to list certification...but since we've heard nine different answers from as many people I believe nothing until I'm informed I'm a permanent S/A.
  19. Wednesday/Thursday with all shifts available. Was your class the one with 18/20 drafted into wayfinder?
  20. May 14th is the Monday after we're out...I hope that means you'll have our instructor, I like him. He does a great job explaining everything and answering questions as they arise.
  21. Heh your husband is generalizing. Those are the general times each shift spans from but you can work 8p-4a and that's still a PM job. The general shift times are a lot closer to stations hours than train service...from what I see, a lot are pretty close to those times give or take an hour, but for example, the outliers on AMs start at 3am and the late outlier is about 10am...so you can still be working anything within those hours. As it stands right now, next week we will be doing an in house pick for extra list slots...RDOs and shift - the variety of which is entirely dependent upon what is given to the instructor for us to pick...i.e. it could all be midnights with tuesday/wednesday off if that's all they give him - and that is effective for the remainder of the winter pick and for the summer pick unless we pick something up off an open job bid.
