The switches on the Queens Blvd express tracks at Queens Plaza are stuck in a position set for the 60 St tunnel. 6 Av Fastrack is in effect, by the way .

Oh, I see now.

I didn't know that the Cranberry St tunnel was that fast (I'm pretty sure that TwoTimer is referring to the Cranberry St tunnel).

I thought maybe it had something to do with the field shunting...It's probably the crappy recording device.

That makes sense. Why did they even send it to Whitehall in the first place, if W 4 was an option? The 6 Av FASTRACK for Jul 23-27 has been posted, and there's one change: the is running its southern section to/from W4 instead of Whitehall; skipping DeKalb on the northbound.

Next: There is a sinkhole from 33 to 38 streets from Lexington to 7 th Avenue, Reroute everything, even buses
Okay, I don't feel like doing the buses...But trains:
Coney Island - W 4 St
runs in two sections; 205 St - 2 Av station via 8 Av local, Coney Island - W 4 St
runs in two sections; Jamaica-179 St - 47-50 Sts, Coney Island - Delancey St
runs via 8 Av local
runs via 8 Av express
242 St - 96 St; trains skip 103 St, 110 St, 116 St, and 125 St.
241 St - 96 St
148 St - 96 St
single-track shuttle trains run between 96 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle (for transfer to )
runs in two sections; New Lots Av - Brooklyn Bridge, local between Utica Av and Atlantic Av, Woodlawn - Grand Central-42 St (uptown trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St)
Dyre Av - 125 St
Pelham Bay Park - Grand Central-42 St
runs in two sections; Coney Island - Atlantic Av, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd - 57 St/7 Av
suspended
runs in two sections; 95 St - Whitehall St, 71 Av - 57 St/7 Av
special single-track shuttle trains run between Canal St and 28 St
Whew! That was hard.

Yeah. I don't think I'm the first one to say this, but people shouldn't act like the R62/A is the "R32 of the IRT". If anything, it should be compared to the R68/A, which is similar in age.

I've noticed that Brooklyn-bound trains always announce the at Bowling Green...I was quite surprised the first time I heard it...2. At Bowling Green, the train said "transfer is available to the 4 train" as if it were terminating at BG; I guess the explanation for that is that they did not update the announcements after they began sending the to Brooklyn during midday hours a few years ago. But even weirder was that Dianne Thompson's voice was saying "transfer is available to the 4 train!" It was the same announcement that the makes at Nevins Street when the is not running to Brooklyn and is probably the same one made at 149 St-Concourse during overnight hours when the latter is not running south of E 180 St. Although some Manhattan-bound trains have Charlie Pellett's voice say "transfer is available to the 3 and 4 trains" at Nevins Street even though the was already announced at Franklin.Anyway, here's my random thought:
Isn't this R62 train making a really weird noise? I've been wondering about this for a while...(Go to 00:40 in the video)
Kind of like a jet engine. Well, this video's pretty old. Did all R62s used to make that sound?

Didn't you say something about visibility-related speed limit signs (no timers) at W 4 St?Well if it is deemed the the current signal sequence provides sufficient stopping distance, no timers will ever appear there.

I still have yet to understand how politics can affect car assignments, since the MTA (not elected officials) have control over it.
1 -
I see. I still think it should be at least GT35...I'm pretty sure that those timers clear at 25-30 MPH. Are there a lot of visibility-related timers (I sadly think of W 4 St n/b on the in our near future)?A slight bend that obscures vision. And between Christopher St and 14st is the location in question, not the station itself.

50 is sometimes possible in those areas, but definitely not 60 MPH...In the good 'ol days pre 2009 as far as I remember from '97 or '98 to 2009 the trains to ride were the R-32,38,40S/M for the B division IMO they could all hit mid to upper 50's even 60+ in those hot spots along the as far as I remember.
In any case, the answer to my quiz was the train, going at 42 MPH. The train went 40-41 MPH. Still, it's close. I thought I could trick you guys into thinking that the was much faster, as shorter cars generally look faster (because each car, each window, and each door pass you more quickly). That's part of why people think that 75-footers are so slow...
Okay, here's the next SPEEDy video for you guys:

But, there's no curve at Christopher St.
0 -
Yeah, that's one of my favorite express runs, with that "surge" of speed going down the hill...I don't see why they would ever want to put in timers, as it's only 40 or so MPH. What I really don't understand is the timers at Christopher St...BTW, in the IRT pic the trains don't reach their top speed until they've actually enterred the curve as it is slightly uphill until they enter Houston than race downhill (and its still amazing how TA never timed the curve).

@ GojiMet86, that seems to be a big problem with railfanning and "train-hunting". 99% of the time, you'll be disappointed with what you find...

FOAMFOAMFOAM!!!Because of the running in two sections, all trains running between Brooklyn Bridge and 149th St - Grand Concourse are using Jerome Yard sets, which means R142s and R142s from the are running on the .
No, seriously, I hope someone gets some videos of that...

Good point. Okay, some trains are re-routed via Lexington Av express, and some trains run via Lexington Av local. Some trains leave service for Lenox or Livonia yard. The don't all fit on one track.

No local trains can pass 59 St/CC.
Affected:
runs express between 59 St and Canal St
uptown trains run express from 34 St to 72 St
downtown trains run express from 96 St to 34 St

The R40. All the way. But then again, you have to consider that the T/Os must have to follow the speed limit, so they could both be going at the same speed. But if I had to say, the R40.
Okay, the answer is that they're both going at the same speed, 30 MPH.I guess 29MPH for the R40 and 31MPH for the R68A
Here's another one:
Which train is going faster:

The one problem is that the Culver Line from Ditmas Av to Coney Island is a BMT line.via the to Kings Highway.
via Prospect Park Express, Culver Local (w' peak-direction express), to Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.
Runs local east of 71 Ave.
To Church Avenue. Some trains are extended to Kings Highway.
Terminates at Whitehall Street, or *Times Square-42 Street via the . Some trains run via the to Forest Hills-71 Ave. (* via Broadway Express)
Terminates at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, or *Canal Street (* via the ) Some trains run via Queens Bl Express to Forest Hills-71 Ave.
Terminates at Jay Street-Metrotech.
Suspended.
Short list:
Queens Bl Exp:
Queens Bl Lcl:
Prospect Park Exp:
Prospect Park Lcl:
NOTE:
[F] Uses the Jamaica Yard.
[N] [Q] Uses the Queens Bl express tracks (east of 71 Av) to layup.
[Q] Uses the City Hall layup tracks.
That was hard, but I'm sure there's more mistakes in there! Correct me if I'm wrong!

I think you misunderstood my post; ALL BMT lines south of Atlantic can't be used:205 St to Pacific St (Grand CC/CPW/6 Av/4 Av Express)
36 St to Coney Island (West End Local)
59 St to Coney Island (Sea Beach Local)
Prospect Park to Coney Island (Brighton Local)
71 Av to Lawrence St (Queens Blvd/Broadway Local)
Pacific St to 95 St (4 Av Local)
Astoria Ditmars to 34 St (Broadway Express/Astoria Local)
NOTE
Skips DeKalb Av.
Shuttle Buses replace Sea Beach Service.
4 Av Single tracked Shuttles. Trains leave every 10 mins from terminals.
NEXT: all BMT lines in Brooklyn are unusable south of Atlantic Av. Atlantic Av station can be used. RULES: no trains can exit service to go to yards located in unusable areas, which means that some routes cannot be suspended/have their TPH reduced. The yards can still be used for storage; trains just can't access them.

Where are you going to put the trains that aren't in service?: Whitehall Street-Astoria, via Local
: Pacific Street-57th Street, via Express & Tunnel.
: Suspended.
: Suspended.
: 2nd Avenue-205th Street via Local
Assuming this includes the Culver EL & Franklin Shuttle:
: Terminates at Church Avenue.
: Terminates at Botanic Garden, single tracking.
