  1. I know one is going to help, but you might be another one to help out. I'm redoing the entire fonts, but I'm taking requests as sizes 5-12 (and thin 5-8) are already done. :)

May i request a horizion that says

    76 THE LEGO DOME

           STATEN-GRAND

           LIMITED STOPS

    then

    75  RODGERS PARK

      COLUMBUS-FRANKFORD

  2. Something happened in the past week where my manual pronouncement of Lafayette has changed too. All last pick I was saying "Broadway Laugh-vee-ett" and all of a sudden "Law-vee-ett" started coming out of my mouth. I've always pronounced it DEEEE-Cow-Buh. I've also been saying VON Sick Lynn ever since my A-Division days.

Thank god I've never had a 32/42 on the (J) . I don't know how I'd ever handle that first stop after Myrtle-Broadway......

    Kos-kay-yus-co (your welcome)

  3. Everyone who did use one is lucky as it is. The (MTA) is the only major agency that I know of that does the free or half fare rides. Nearly all other agencies settle on a 10-15% discount, which is still a lot.

And I'm serious about the pennies. On the occasion when times were rough I remember paying my entire fare in all coins except quarters. Even today there are some times when I won't drop a single dollar bill (yes, we take them), dollar coin, half dollar, or quarter in the box out of mismanaged finances.

It's a pain, but you do what you have to.

CTA is ether 75 or 85 cents which is more than 50% off...

  4. To spell it out in gory detail:

    • The 1 has to eventually be on the southbound express track at 14th St. to terminate. It can cross to the express either just north of 14th or just south of 42nd.
    • The 2/3, then, has to be on the local - both to serve the local stops south of 14th and to get past the 1 train that is blocking the express track. But there's no way for a southbound train to cross from express to local just north of 14th, so the 2/3 crosses to the local just north or 34th (and in the past it's sometimes crossed north of 96th).
    • So why peel the 1 off to the express at 42nd rather than at 14th? So that, if it has to wait a few minutes for a northbound train to leave 14th, it won't delay 2/3 trains.
    • That logic doesn't apply northbound - seemingly, the 1 could run local along with the 2/3 from 14th to 34th. I suppose it doesn't to maintain a consistent service pattern, or perhaps running it local would add just enough running time to require another crew.

I wasn't there this weekend, but the previous weekend there were lots of signs on the northbound platform directing people to the southbound. I don't know if anybody looked at them, but they were there.

At 137th, trains relay north of the station. I don't think trains turn at 215th - I believe the trains that terminate there are typically layups.

The only reason I can think of is the signage in the mezzanine.

Unofficially. All of the system maps, all of the (rider-oriented) station signage, and all of the R160 programs treat Alabama as a J-only stop. I've heard that Z trains stop there as a courtesy to NYCT employees based out of the nearby transit facilities. (Which, frankly, in my opinion, is bunk - trains shouldn't be routinely making extra stops as special favors.)

tell that to the LIRR thay have been making extra stops at Hillside for years...

  5. I know what I mentioned because I said it.  It's you that is having the problem following along.

I can't speak for the bunching but I don't find them to be that reliable. I've used the B1 over the years and the current B1 isn't much different from the old route in terms of reliability.

    it is higher in ridership,tho

so i guess the  :bus_bullet_b42: is the last bus service to replace a subway segment left once the  :bus_bullet_bx55_ltd: goes by the wayside?

the :bus_bullet_b74: replaced the Nortons Point trolley which was operated by the BMT in coordination with their subway service to Coney Island...

  7. Oh boy... The X17 is already long enough.  I've been urging local leaders to just have the X28 restored so that the X17 can resume its normal routing.  The X17 on weekends was set up to be a TEMPORARY deal until the X28 came back because there wasn't enough funds to restore the X28. The X17 is an express bus not a marathon bus.  <_< It's insane how you're making a mockery out of a commuter bus. That's like having the LIRR make a gazillion stops in Queens as if it were a subway.

Then how about a separate express bus on this route...
