  1. It doesn't make sense to NOT give R160s and R179s CBTC.
  2. trying to think outside the box...maybe not a SAS crosstown. Instead, it could be a crosstown connected to the Bronx directly?
  3. $14.3B for Phases 2 & 3 ...lol..... Phase 2 looks like a bargain now, "only" $6B
  4. From my observation, puts a lot more people to keep the SAS stations clean than others in the rest of the system
  5. http://web.mta.info/mta/news/books/pdf/170123_1345_CPOC.pdf (p.37) 740 of R211 cost $3.2 billion ...... What make it so $$$ compare to R179
  6. Flooding issue...pretty sure there will be a way to solve it. Even 116st and 137st on don't get flooded every time when it rains. Pelham...no idea, unless it is a subway becuase EL couldn't run on 3rd avenue
  7. No tunnel at all after 129st tail track. The track climbs up in Harlem river park, then runs on top of Harlem river drive and go to the Bronx as an EL on top of MN track
  8. By the way, it might not need any tunnel to go 149st-Grand Concourse. An EL might actually work this time, where it runs on top of highways and MN tracks, and avoid the commercial and residential streets.
  9. ok ok chill If they want a metro north connection to SAS and build SAS to the bronx, maybe they could just add a metro north 138st station and have connection with
  10. They are not shooting themselves. The tail track that goes beyond 125 st / 2 av is in the current plan.
  11. From my observation, lots of people use those crosstown buses for subway (especially for ) But I agree that subway has its constraint, like it can't have much stops across 125st as buses do.
  12. Really? I see M60 SBS, M100, M101 are very busy across 125st all the time
  13. Today my S/B (schudeled to depart from 96st at 7:07pm, actual: 7:08~7:09) arrived canel St 3min behind schedule. There wasn't traffic, nor works, nor someone held the door. Interestingly, next arrived at ~7:33pm, 3min ahead of schedule lol
  14. That's impressive, consider how much more distance, and how many more stops needs to go through
  15. without delay today, my S/B (depart from 96st at 6:58pm) took only ~1min from 86st to 72st Overall it look ~14min from 86st to 14st. How does it compare to from Lex/86st to 14st at ~7pm?
  16. Is there still works going on around 72st? I just took the S/B today (~7:20pm from 96st) and it ran slower than usual due to work on track. It made the ride not as satisfying as other days
  17. Wow, there are lots of spaces. It seems like it has same or even move room compare to the stations in Phase 1 https://www.flickr.com/photos/mtaphotos/sets/72157640788621035
  18. I don't trust them. https://qz.com/724156/the-chinese-company-making-boston-and-chicagos-new-subway-cars-has-big-problems-in-singapore/
  19. Side platforms wouldn't help reduce the amount of work because you still need to remove the columns....
  20. It can't be avoided because those columns supporting the street now have to go. However it is still better than digging from the street to the platform from scratch
  21. By the way, from the same pdf: http://i.imgur.com/6qYX8jO.png No surprise why the 125st could be that expensive Could they just build the 125st under the Park Ave instead of right underneath Lex? So they don't need to build 3 tracks and two platforms under 2 levels of existing platforms, but meanwhile it could still provide transfer between SAS and Lex. Everyone's still happy.
  22. "Located within existing tunnel structures..." so no digging is needed. Still a (very) good news for the project
  23. Well...Phase 2A should not just stop at 116st. It should push a bit further to 120st (maybe start turning west a bit as well) so Phase 2B could avoid the construction being so close to 116st station
  24. wow, so 106st and 116st are easier to build than we thought before. Maybe Phase 2 should be divided into Phase 2A and 2B, so 2A (106st to 116st) would be open earlier, maybe 2022-2024?
  25. It looks like there are even more spaces above (source: http://ltvsquad.com/2008/10/29/harlem-segment-uno/)
