Lack of parts that are on back order. Currently egg Harbor only has 4 of the 11 lavs available for service. 18109 is on the 830 from PABT. And 2 Eht lavs broke down yesterday. Honestly idk how any of these 18000-21000s are passing dot inspections. Give the 22000s a few more months when the oem parts start to need replacing and they’ll be in the same boat. The transmission control unit on the 18000-22000s are a big issue. 18098 is on its 2nd transmission because of that and currently out of service. 18099 transmission control unit went yesterday.
They sure don’t make em the way they used to.....

Wow! I didn’t know Academy is still fighting over the 119! Either way I know both Academy and Coach USA are not running that line well. Every time I am at Congress St passengers always saying “where is the 119 I’ve been here for over a hour!” lol
Academy needs to just give it up

With the acquisition of the 119, gate changes at Port Authority are coming too. I’ve been told I can no longer camp out on the 4th floor because it’ll start getting a little more active now

Maybe the electric D45CRT or standard floor new look MCI cruiser electrics are in line to replace the 7100s and 9000s in the future🤷🏾♂️. Remember Wayne is up after Camden and Newark to have their facility retrofitted with some charging stations
I’ll look more into that especially since I work out of Wayne. If that’s the case I’m immediately putting in for field salary work. I despise those low floor MCIs. Now if they came without, like a D4520 model I saw testing, then maybe I’ll change my tune

I'm not buying that a budget surplus was the reason why they did this fare-free offering, at least this time around (I do think it helped make their decision, however).
What it comes down to is (national) politics. Dude's up for reelection, and national sentiment has trickled down more in local races over the tears. It looks like Democrats might get their clocks cleaned come in November, because they haven't done enough to mitigate the effects of inflation (including gas prices) or provided sufficient assistance to folks (among other things). Then you have Republicans fighting over running on nothing or running on deeply unpopular platforms in order to do the same old bullshit they do once they get power. Dude's trying to save his ass, and that of his colleagues too.
You could also say something similar for the fare-free offering last summer, since the purpose was to help boost the local economy and help businesses recover financially from the pandemic, while simultaneously giving people some financial relief too.
And if it does turn out it was for that very purpose to win votes, but fail, oof goes the Dems...

How long was the vesting period at Lakeland? You coming to njt was a better move, because when the pandemic hit it crippled Lakeland and Decamp.
Not sure about the vesting period actually. Had a growing 401k too, and was pretty disappointed I couldn’t transfer it over to state pension. And yeah it seemed like most everyone followed me over to NJT as well.
Funny thing is before all this madness kicked off, a couple of guys left the “Lake” one became a trucker, ultimately ending up at UPS, the other went to NJT (under me at Lakeland) and they were still working while everyone else was laid off.

I'm currently waiting to get in the LETP program, being my dreams of being a train op does not look likely anytime in the near future.

I know the pain of starting over too well. Spent 8 years at Lakeland and have to start from scratch.

Thanks for the information. I’m thinking of getting a place in jersey.
That two state tax thing was a reason I moved from Brooklyn to Jersey when I worked for Coach USA

Yes, the buses have fareboxes (yes, the buses accept dollar bills, just to put that out there)... However, the zone prices differ from the NJT routes...
{Zone 1 is $1.75 (compared to NJT's $1.60), Zone 2 is $2.70 (compared to NJT's $2.55), Zone 3 is $3.30 (compared to NJT's $3.15)}Hmm slightly more expensive to ride

Don't know what you're referring to with that....
Maybe he’s talking about the register on the 24 (wayfarer register)
TBH I didn’t pay attention to that because the time I did work for Coach USA I was able to ride free with my ID

Back on 4/16, I took the full #192 - and yeah, that detour is murder... Crazy enough, we still got to NYC in a little over an hour (the 10:06am trip made the left off Fenner & got there exactly at 10:06, and we got to NYC at 11:08am).... Pretty sure the main reason for that was because there was no passenger activity past Allwood Circle... I was a bit surprised that we got as many pax. as we did north of the rt. 3/GSP interchange (we had about 1/2 a seated load)....
When we first started that detour (having no visual aids) I drove westbound and made the left down Washington Av off Kingsland (near Clifton Commons). I kept looking for the street to turn down (which was supposed to be Centre St) and thought if I keep going any further, I’m gonna end up in Newark or something. So I turned down Grant Ave and went to Passaic, then resumed the route at Kingsland. After my day was done I went right to supervision and said look, a lot of us may not be familiar with the area so if you and Nutley are going to be bullish on us about this detour, at least give us a detailed Route on it. I haven’t seen how the 13 uses it’s detour, but would like to see how that route travels.

I think whoever thought of that 192/199 detour in Nutley needs to be on the street and shot 🤦♂️

Funny thing is I remember when the train was ranked as one of the worst subway lines in the system. The worked to improve that line considerably, but the has remained horrendous.
Would that time been during the Manhattan Bridge project that sent the local via Whitehall full time?

Was wondering how that third track project on the Main Line is coming along (it’s been that long since I’ve been back to New York, although my last visit was last year going to TrainLand in Lynbrook).

I have taken the from 42nd to 96th here and there over the years to the and it's usually not that long of a wait. Service is pretty frequent and we're talking 10pm at night. Now as far as overnight, I haven't done that in some years and I wouldn't, even though the wait as I recall it wasn't that bad. The issue really is if you have to make transfers after the train, but that's a separate issue. The train outside of the overcrowding issues is one of the best in the system, even though it's local after 96th St. It's only about 25 minutes from 96th to 242nd.
The at night I have found to be pretty good as well. The is what is horrible. You can have five trains run to one train.
And in the daytime? Is it so bad I prefer using the X28 going to Bay Ridge (and paying extra) instead of the ? If I were to use the to 59 Street, seeing an on the way down would be like hitting the powerball.

Well I guess I won’t be holding my breath to see new buses in Wayne (freaking Oradell 😡😡😡)
