  1. (F) 's were being rerouted to West End middle for at least 4 hours tonight! .... as well as some being sent via the (A) from 5 Av to Jay, and others sent down crosstown. If you were at 2 Av-York St waiting for a Brooklyn bound (F) any time after 7PM, you're probably still there........

  2. I think Plan 5 (weather state of emergency declared) has only been enacted once since it was added to the Winter Plan (which was a result of the December 2010 blizzard). During Plan 5, (A) service will run local between 207 and Euclid, and (C) will be suspended. A lot of other crazy changes that would make all of you foam, such as the (D) from 205 to 95 St, also occur. Note that even during Plan 5, the remaining (C) trains get stored between 168 and 145 on A3&4, and CPW & 8th Ave are still left open, but the main idea in Plan 5 is to thin out service as much as possible in order to more easily manage the snowbirds, since by the time that plan is in effect, Bloomberg has already been all over the TV for hours telling everybody to GO HOME.

  3. If they insist on advertising that damn SBS via transfer announcements, then they should at least make the PROPER announcement of "transfer is available to the Bx41 Select Bus Service with a Metrocard only, and only if it's been less than 2 hours since you swiped into the subway, and also if you want to get back onto the subway you're going to have to use another fare, so it isn't really a transfer. But you can get it downstairs."

  4. nah they usually don't suspend the (C) during Plan 4 UNLESS the weather is severe. But I'm saying Plan 4 is going to be interesting because if they still have R160s on the (C) they will store the unused ones on the 8th Avenue/CPW Express (Which has barely happened).

Nothing gets stored on 8th Ave/CPW during Plan 4. The (A) & (C) uses the Fulton St express tracks, the extra tracks around Dyckman and Euclid, and Pitkin Yard (which is covered).

The (C) only gets suspended during Plan 5, but during Plan 4, the (A) will run express in Manhattan.

  5. Construction is only done on the structures at night during emergency work. It's both a safety issue (visibility) and out of concern for the neighbors. However, in the case of projects like what is happening on the Liberty Ave El where the actual structure is being replaced in pieces, they can't just restore the track to usable condition as soon as the sun goes down, which is why those outages are for the entire weekend.

That overnight work is being done in the area of Grant Ave, which is underground.

  6. realizm is right. Training still hasn't completed. There are some folk here who are REALLY resistant to going back to school, and yet picked the (7) KNOWING that the R188s were coming, and will call out sick every time they get forced into a class. Same thing happened with the R160's. Go yell at them for the delays......

  7. HAHHAHAHAHA.

We had switch problems north of 59 St, so were only able to turn one train every 10 minutes. By the time my train got up there, it took us 20 minutes to get from 7/53 to 59, and then another 15 to get my train into the relay. I imagine it was even worse behind me. They started discharging (A) trains at 42 St and running them lite through the conga line, since that was another alternative for getting the 1&2

Got one more night of it tonight, I hope they worked out the kinks by now......

  8. None of that is relevant if MTA Cant bother notifying passengers of planned repair.

So what happened? Were you allowed to enter the Manhattan bound Ave U platform even though all trains were bypassing it? You were not directed to take a Coney Island bound train to Sheepshead Bay to cross over?

Sorry but when its a PLANNED repair work you have no excuse not to let passengers know ahead of time.

Now if the equipment/track needed work immediately and was unforeseen, fine, it happens.

But seeing as how the repair work is timed, I HIGHLY doubt it was an emergency work.

As I stated yesterday, this was an emergency GO, it was planned after the weekly posters went up based on a track inspection done on Monday.

  9. Yet another customer who expects personalized service for his $2.50......that's right, we're running this GO just to make YOUR life as difficult as possible.

You know, the original GO this week was going to be to have all Manhattan bound trains run express from Kings Highway to Prospect Park while they began track replacement work. I bet you wouldn't have complained about that one! They're running this emergency GO instead because the inspection train discovered some faults in the trackage in that area earlier this week, and that became a priority repair project. Either that or the Sperry car has a personal vendetta against Koreans and is trying to make your life miserable. Now go ahead and scream at the train crew about how much the MTA sucks and they'll apologize because it was their decision to run this GO too.

  10.

So I have to ask... what is the latest on the R188s? Is there a new "expected" service entry date? And how about the R42s:

Now expected to go into service sometime next week. Most of the (7) crews are qualified now, and the rest have been ordered to schedule a training session ASAP.

R42's won't be going anywhere until the R179's replace them. So we're looking at least 2 years before they're gone for good.

  11. It's definitely happening, I'm just saying it's going to be a mess.

N/B, the last (B) will leave 59 at 2152. Last through (D) will leave 59 St N/B at 2202, followed by the last through (A) at 2204. Both will be express. The (C) will be the cleanup, leaving 59 at 2207.

Going S/B, the last (C) leaves 168 at 2119, and the last (B) leaves 145 at 2125. The last through (A) out of 207 will be the 2159, and they will run local the whole way beginning with the 2115. Last through (D) out of Bedford Park is the 2148.

Also, I am going to make some serious overtime next week.

  12. In 2005 during the last iteration of the 1/9, there actually weren't any short turns scheduled at 137, but many more trains started or finished at 238 for direct yard access.

Remember that unlike the J/Z, the 1/9 ran skip stop in BOTH directions during AM and PM rush.

  13. Still waiting for the GO and the Supplement to get released. It appears that Operations Planning really came up with this Fastrack idea at the last minute. They were doing some heavy-duty work on A1 between 125 and 59 St a couple weeks ago (overnight and weekends) so perhaps they found something that needed attention.
