Who's ready for some Plan 5???

If the is going to delay a train by sharing tracks with it during a period of 10 minute headways how in the world does the railroad run during rush hour? (serious question)
Serious answer - there's no track work or construction flagging during rush hour. This makes a BIG difference in capacity during off peak hours and weekends.

The problem I see is that people will think the is local and then still cram on the because they think the express is a faster ride.
NOBODY is going to walk PAST the 2 Av station an extra two blocks just so they can ride an express. Especially since they can only do that if they're near 86 St. It's not just an extra two blocks, but also going down to the lower level. By the time they walk that extra distance, their could have already picked them up and be pulling into 125 St.

Since @46Dover did only BMT/IND i'm oing to do IRT
Make 24hr service to Atlantic Ave Barclays Center
Night service express to Franklin Ave then local to New Lots
How are you gonna turn service at Atlantic if the is running expressl? Can't turn trains on the local track without blocking the whole railroad.

Finally folks, say it with me now: "LEFFERTS RIDERS DON'T WANT THE LOCAL!!!"
Why is this rule always so set in stone whenever any mention of a Fulton Local to Lefferts gets brought up? I say give it a try and let them learn to love it. RARELY, especially on weekends, does a Fulton express ever overtake a local in Brooklyn without making a connection at Euclid, BJ or Utica, and if a Rockaway train has to follow a Lefferts train north on Liberty Ave, it's even less likely that getting off and waiting for the express will save you significant time.

. 145 Street Manhattan to Coney Island Brooklyn, via 6 Avenue/West End Express. Rush Hours to Bedford Park, The Bronx, Late
Nights from 168 Street to Coney Island via 6 Ave/West End Local (Stops at DeKalb)
. 205 Street, The Bronx to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. Concourse Exp Rush Hour (peak direction) via 6 Avenue/ Brighton Express
Late nights to 145 Street Manhattan
So late nights you want every single Concourse customer to have to transfer at 145???? WHY?

Yes, it should read Atlantic-Pacific-Barclays but there isn't enough space on the display.

It's more likely that the will run express between 42 and Canal, and the will stay local. That way customers can still get between 59 and 50. Once the stops running, the will run local with the staying express.

They still ran baseball specials the first weekend of that CPW GO. It was a disaster, but they still did it.
They could have run some extra service between Bedford Park (turn on the middle track in the station) and 161 (clean out, change ends on the middle track) from 0700-2100 to absorb some of that extra ridership from the .....those buses from Mosholu & Woodlawn were coming down completely full!

CBTC signal work on the express tracks. Same reason for most GOs involving Queens Blvd, 53 and 63 St these days.

Because the line is out between Woodlawn and 167, so Mosholu Yard has no access, so they have to borrow equipment from Unionport.
Terrible idea not running extra service, btw. My first trip was crushloaded in both directions. Also, today they finally gave us scripts to announce every 15 minutes, regarding Avonte Oquendo. They should have started this LAST weekend.

Well how many colors did you see? Silver and blue are only TWO colors.

1.I think this situation isn't a normal situation so you have to expect something like that. While you are inconvenienced by a email, imagine how much worse the family's situation is,I think you should cut some slack. This isn't a normal situation.A kid who is interested in trains goes missing:of course they'll search every station and let every worker know so they can find him
2.That's the right thing to do...ask.Anything anyone here can do to help is a job well done wether its keeping an eye out for him or determining anythign about him that may help finding him is needed.I know when I will be traveling tomorrow to keep an eye out, just in case...
1. It wasn't an inconvenience at all, and I have definitely been keeping my eyes open. My point was that this was the first time I have EVER received an email from the MTA involving work. They don't even send out emails for weather emergencies (they do send robocalls though)! Which shows just how big a deal they are treating this, even compared to every other timely incident in the last 2 years.
2. Yet people are saying I'm tasteless for asking if he is a member of this forum, even though it's highly probable that he at least READS this site? if he did post here, his posts could be very helpful to figure out where he might have gone. Here's another question that you're all probably going to label tasteless too, even though it very well might be what happened - has anyone checked the 76th St area? His curiosity very well could have taken him back there, and NOBODY ever goes back there.
They were still sending out radio and PA announcements again today, but they weren't nearly as frequent as yesterday.

Be a little more sensitive to the issue. This isn't normal circumstances. He can't talk.
People who can't talk can still type. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was a member of this site, or at least reads it.

I can't believe how much the MTA is pushing this search for this kid. They emailed AND robocalled me his description....and one of the perks of this job for me is supposed to be that I NEVER get email! Every 5 minutes on the radio too, as well as station PA announcements. If he's in the subway, there's no way he could have not been noticed by now.
Now.....are there any NYCTF regulars who haven't posted since Friday?

It's back...
Due to NYPD activity at Atlantic Av-Barclays Center, the following service changes are in effecttrains are running between Brighton Beach and Prospect Park in both directions.
Northbound trains are running on the line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to DeKalb Av.
Southbound and trains are bypassing Atlantic Av-Barclays Center.
As an alternative, customers are advised to use the following buses to nearby train service:
B3, B4, B6, B8, B9, B11, B35 and B82 buses.
Allow additional travel time.
Smoke condition? The conductor on my train said it was a signal problem. But this was somewhere between 9:10 and 9:20, so it could have happened after the smoke condition.
It's a very bad idea to tell your customers that your train is being held due to a fire in the vicinity, even if it's the truth.

With most of these fastrack supplements, they don't even take into consideration which end you normally finish at. If you're at the wrong end when the GO goes into effect, you'll still make your regular interval and then get turned.
Thank god I managed to get an AM job next year........

If you're lucky, you get your last trip ABDed and wait in the crew room until clearing time. If you're not so lucky, you get turned and may wind up on the wrong end at clearing time.
There's a reason why the PM jobs are very high seniority.......

A problem with the 142 is that when you activate the PA, you have to wait a second before you can press the talk button. If you press it immediately, the mic won't activate and nobody will hear your announcement. I used a technique where I listened for a static echo before I began speaking to make sure the PA mic was on. Still, the C/R should have looked for a reaction from the customers, since when announcing a skip run, there should be some customers running off the train and standing on the platform as soon as they hear that you're skipping their station.

Not sure if this is mentioned elsewhere, but for the first time today I heard an automated announcement about Fasttrack on the . I guess this program is around to stay for a while
Fastrack isn't going anywhere. There's going to be one almost every single week in 2014. I'm sure the MTA website will brag about exactly how many lightbulbs they replaced this year.

I was just on a 4 train that did a skip without the crew telling anybody. They should be really thankful I'm only going to report the crew and that I didn't pull the emergency brake. No announcement, no AAS update, nada.
If I wasn't having a doctors appointment I would've filed a report on the spot at Woodlawn...
What would activating the emergency brake accomplish? I don't know why they didn't make an announcement about the skip, but I can guarantee you that the crew would not open up the train at your station if they were planning on skipping it just because the cord was activated, and if you were on a NTT, pulling the cord wouldn't have stopped the train anyway. Did anyone press the ICS and remind the crew that they skipped their stop??

Church Ave Super Master Tower......still working the kinks out......

If you steal from the MTA, no way are you getting hired by them.

Today on 8 Av the beat the in both directions. It is kind of sad.
Why is that sad? The only makes 2 less stops than the (or 3 if you count 50 St).
What WAS sad was last pick when my would consistently beat my following to 168! Even if we made a connection at W4 or 14 St, I would leave that in the dust, and any chance it had of catching up to us on CPW would get squashed when it got plugged by a trying to enter 59 St.

R68 actually lol
Well then we had both R68 and R68A. I got hit pretty hard at 81 and 72 on my trip tonight. At least MoW had the foresight to take a break when the concert ended so that we wouldn't further be delayed by track gangs. What concert was it, btw?

It's like plan 4, but with diesel-powered rescue trains placed on stand by, and a continengy to shut down certain outdoor sections of the system (mostly in Brooklyn and Queens) if it becomes unsafe to run service.
