There’s already a transfer between those lines at South Ferry, so it isn’t needed.
I know, but I meant before that connection at South Ferry existed.

At Rector Street where Trinity Street intersects Morris Street and an off ramp from the tunnel, you can see the entrances to the train stop and the / stop across the street from each other. And I've been wondering "why wasn't a transfer built here?"

Ralph Avenue on the has a closed entrance and partly closed mezzanine for Howard Avenue as well as Franklin Avenue (closed entrance for Classon Avenue) and a few other stops in Manhattan (Spring, 50th, 96th, 103rd, 116th, 155th, 163rd). I think these entrances were closed off as part of the TA's efforts to decrease crime on the subway system in the 80's and 90's.

The NYPD tested out metal detectors at Penn Station yesterday. It's a pilot program for now, but I have concerns that this could be the future...

Is the R179 in service at this time?

I haven't seen one while I was out today. Nothing but R46s and R160s along with an R32.

The MTA is likely trying out new tech on these LEDs on a basic concept (ex. date and time). I've seen these things before at Astoria Boulevard.

Well there's blue construction wall up at Chambers Street on the which can mean only one thing: pigs can fly
My guess is that they're planning something big for that space and that 'something' will be announced later this week.

I kinda knew that Carlos Santiago struck again with the rollsign BS...
Oh God not again. 😑
Actually, is this even true? I haven't seen any post on Facebook of him doing that rollsign.

Also checked out the stop, incredibly lovely. Cortlandt-WTC isn't the first stop to have AC, 2nd Avenue subway stops have them (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, the uptown platform's tiles are temporary wallpaper, which means the TA wanted this stop open before the next 9/11 ceremony.

Was there ever a plan to build a passageway from Lex-63rd to Lex-59th? I'm sure doing so would take plenty of riders off the considering riders would now have access to Lex express and local, unlike the which has just local.
No plans came up to connect Lex-63rd to 59th while the 63rd Street line was being planned up.

I cannot wait for this stop to re-open this weekend. It's one of those things that's been long awaited by many people, as well as transit fans, and now they finally did it. Once it re-opens, all of the Lower Manhattan subway infrastructure will be whole again.

Most of us know of the abandoned Chambers Street platforms of the and as well as the plan to connect the Nassau Street subway to the el lines of the Brooklyn Bridge that was never completed. Turns out the BRT was serious about building the connection. Saw this while looking through the book The Routes Not Taken a few months ago.

Long time since I've posted here, I'll give it another go.
train extension to Co-Op City. Line runs under Burke Avenue with stops at White Plains Road (transfer to & ), Laconia (transfer to train Gun Hill Road station), Co-Op City (the last stop). It would be 2 tracked, deep-level tunneling with all stops having an island platform. There will be cross tracks at the last stop.

I was on one just yesterday on my way home from summer school. Fortunately the train was able to move without further interruption.

Rode a train that had a hot car on my way home today. It was so hot the door leading to the next car was left open so that the air could come in. Feels like the air conditioning crisis is slowly spreading to the R62s.

Came across this tweet while browsing through Reddit on the NYC rail page.
This is the first time I've read of this plan. I never knew the PA had bigger plans for the area than just the Trade Center.

The original 33rd Street terminal on the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad was there before the subway line on Broadway was built.
