    Service Change  Posted: 08/23/2014  8:22PM

Due to NYPD activity at 145 St, the following service changes are in effect:

Northbound a.png trains terminate at 125 St.

Southbound a.png trains terminate at 175 St.

There is no a.png train service between 125 St and 175 St in both directions.

As an alternative customers are advice to use the M3 bus service.

Better off terminating the  (A) at 168th Street rather than at 175th Street.

  2. NEXT:

A water main break on the west end of Central Park South between 7th and 8th Avenues has created a big problem for the Broadway, Broadway-7th Avenue and 8th Avenue lines in that area.  Service east of 7th Avenue at CPS is unaffected by this.

    Okay...

(1)(2)(3)- Service in 2 sections: Between Flatbush, East New York, and South Ferry to Times Square. 96th Street to Bronx terminals. Shuttle bus service provided between Times Square and 96th Street via Broadway. All running with limited service.

(A)(D)-Service in two sections.  (A) between Columbus Circle and Queens terminals. 145th Street to 207th Street-Inwood. Northbound has limited service.  (D) between 145th Street to 205th Street-Norwood. 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue. Stops at DeKalb Avenue after crossing Manhattan Bridge. Selected number of trains run via the Brighton Line as an express with the  (Q) .

(B)(C) - Service is suspended until further notice. Therefore, as of result, the  (A) will run local in Brooklyn, and the  (D) will have selected service to run on the Brighton Line. In Manhattan, the (A) will also make local stops north of 145th Street.

  3. This looks pretty interesting... I'm going to do mine.

    Changes Regarding Service Around Midtown

Due to Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and their friends, as well as the NYPD, US Army, Air Force, and National Guard together battling Eggman, Wily, and Browser in Midtown in the area around from 34th Street between 7th and 5th Avenue to Central Park South between Columbus Circle and 5th Avenue, the following service changes are as follows:

    (1)(2)(3)-Service bypassing 34th Street-Penn Station, Times Square-42nd Street, 50th Street, and 59th Street-Columbus Circle as of precaution.

(7)-Runs between Grand Central and Flushing-Main Street.  <7> suspended until further notice.

(S)-Shuttle service across 42nd Street suspended until further notice.

(B)(D)(F)(M)-Rerouted onto the 8th Avenue Line (6th Avenue Line closed by orders of the NYPD and MTA to save equipment and property), with extra service to help support overcrowding.  (B) service is suspended. The  (D) runs express;  (F) and  (M) local.  (M) may run between Essex Street and Metropolitan Avenue.

(N)(Q)(R)-Changes as follows:  (N) and  (Q) run between Lexington Avenue and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard with limited service. They also run in two sections. In Brooklyn, the  (N) runs locally along 4th Avenue between Court Street and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.  (Q) betweeen Atlantic Avenue and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.  (R) to Court Street only.

    Please allow addition travel time.

    Situation

Sonic, Mario, Mega Man, and their friends are battling Eggman, Wily, and Browser (they secretly became allies with each other). The three enemies dispatched a ton robots and soldiers into the city. The NYPD is also involved in this battle. This also includes the US Air Force, US Army, and the  National Guard. Bill de Blasio has declared a state of emergency in all of Manhattan, as well as governor Andrew Cuomo. The heat of the battle is in Midtown between 34th Street and Central Park South (which includes Times Square, Herald Square-Macy's-Empire State Building, Bryant Park, Grand Central, and Rockefeller Center).

How would subway and bus service be affected between 34th Street and Central Park South?

  5. Those two select (6) trains will delay (4) and (5) trains in both directions at Atlantic for the reason I described upthread. Those extra trains won't do anything to relieve overcrowding. If anything, it might make it worse due to the complex switching move I described. And Lance said the "conga line" would result from turning trains at Atlantic. If there are no trains turning at Atlantic, there's no conga line. Your new idea still has two (6) trains reversing at Atlantic, so problem not solved.

Re: IRT proposals: I just have one question, why? Sending the 6 to Brooklyn or even Bowling Green is not necessary. The 4 and 5 run frequently enough without the need of the 6. And as stated before, terminating the 6 anywhere besides Brooklyn Bridge will create merging delays with the 4 and 5 at Brooklyn Bridge and Atlantic Av for Brooklyn-bound trains. Any potential benefits gained by extending the 6 are lost because of delays.

And sending the 6 to Flatbush and the 5 to New Lots? Really? For starters, if Flatbush can't fully handle the 2 and 5, what makes you think it could handle the busier 6 along with the 2? Second, sending the 6 to Flatbush would force all Lexington Ave trains on the same tracks between the Bridge and Franklin Av. At the height of rush hours, along with the necessary merges, that would be a tight squeeze. Besides, regardless of the obvious delays that would be caused by said ideas, most riders on Eastern Pkwy and Nostrand Ave want express service, not the local, which means more people would be transferring than they are currently.

Answering the posted question, the 5 was extended to Flatbush during the midday hours because it was desperately needed. Prior to the service change, 2 trains were quite overcrowded with it being the only line serving the Nostrand corridor.

Good God... The Lexington Avenue plans really did me in...  <_<  And you know what? I'm cancelling any further revamps for this plan, and will be moving on to do plans for other IRT lines besides Lexington Avenue. I hope you are all happy now... I understand its for a good cause (especially over the Brooklyn (6) extension), but for the sake of convenience and smarter use of service, I'm not doing it for that line anymore. So there. Period.

  6. I thought of the mistake I did with my previous Lexington Avenue plan. So, here's the revised Lexington Avenue Service Plan with special additions.

    The Revised Lexington Avenue Service

No changes for the  (4) (as expected) . However for the other 2...

    (5) -Runs to Flatbush Avenue all weekday times except weekends. This also goes for its PM rush hour service to Nereid Avenue with the  (2). A rush hour service to Wakefield-241st is a suggestion, but that's up to you guys if that is okay.

    (6) -Rush hours to Bowling Green to help with current  (4) and  (5) overcrowding until construction on the Fulton Street Transit Center is 100% complete. 2 selected (yes I am going to say it again) selected trains will run to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to solve the problem of what Lance said before this revise as a "conga line of delays along Lexington Avenue". All other times, including weekends, will run its usual City Hall-Pelham Bay Park route.

Any improvements I need to make, just let me know.

I hope you like this revised version. I can make a another one if you all think this isn't a good one.

  7.

Except the switches are in the wrong place to turn back a service coming from Manhattan. If those switches were closer to Nevins Street, then maybe your idea could be somewhat feasible, because then a terminating (6) train could leave Nevins and pull into the middle track and wait for uptown trains to pass before going back into Nevins. But with the switches located just outside of Atlantic, any train that terminates there has to reverse out of the station on the same track it came in on, then cross to the middle track, then cross to the uptown track to go back into Atlantic. I don't think you can even imagine what kind of delays this would cause on trains continuing to Utica, Flatbush or New Lots Ave, or trains coming from those stops.

Even if the switches were closer to Nevins, it would still have to be a very limited service due to the high rush hour frequency of the (4) and (5) trains. And you'd still have to deal with congestion at Brooklyn Bridge station, because the (6) would have to merge with the (4) and (5) just before Brooklyn Bridge and slow everything down.

    (6) trains are not needed in brooklyn especially during rush hour...In my opinion that will cause congestion in two area's...City Hall and Atlantic Ave...

Middays (4)  (5) Trains can handle Bowling Green...Have to agree with rollover on this one

@NY Elevated: There's a serious problem with your 6 train proposal. Even if there was demand for a local service to Brooklyn from the Lex, that service cannot terminate at Atlantic Av. Unless those trains deadhead to Utica Av or somewhere else, they will create a conga line of delays along Lexington Ave because the express tracks at Atlantic Av are being used as a terminal for one service while still being a set of through-tracks for other services. You can't have that, especially at the height of the rush hours.

Okay, okay... You all guys (especially Lance and T to Dyre) win on this one. I'm a think about this, and do I revised plan that will be more organized and smarter.

  8. Here's a service proposal for the Lexington Avenue Line. I've decided to do my first one for the numbered lines since my proposals for the  :75px-NYCS-bull-trans-S6_svg: and  (W) were a success.

    (6) Service Plan

Rush hour serivce to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center. Middays extended to Bowling Green as of a solution to solve the problem riders get with the  (5) line's service schedule, therefore that line will continuously run to Flatbush. All other times, the (6) will run its normal current Brooklyn Bridge-Pelham Bay Park route.

Do you like this one, or I need more improvement? :)

  9. Alright, I'm back with another proposal, but for the BMT Broadway Line.

    (W) Line Service Revival Plan

    Rush Hour Addition

Rush hour service to Kings Highway or Coney Island by the Montague Street Tunnel or Manhattan Bridge. Runs local on 4th Avenue, and runs via the Sea Beach  (N). By the Manhattan Bridge, I think it will stop at DeKalb Avenue, or run as an express with the  (D) and  (N).

All other times (including weekend service), the line will run its usual Astoria-Whitehall Street route before elimination in 2010 for recession reasons.

I hope this you guys would like this idea. :)

  10. An earthquake (similar from what went down in the hit anime series "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0") hits New York thanks to the Manhattaville Fault*. It is 8.0 on the richter scale. Its goes as far as Philadelphia, and parts of Delaware. How will the earthquake effect transportation in New York City?

How would PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson), NJTransit, and SEPTA (Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority) deal with the aftermath?

Put in your best response below!

*Oh, and if you are curious where the epicenter, it is in West Harlem Piers Park.

  11. Here's my service proposal for the IND 6th Avenue Line.

    The Whole Portion

    (V) - Service revived. Now runs on weekends between Forest Hills and 2nd Avenue

    Chrystie Street Connection

:75px-NYCS-bull-trans-S6_svg: - Service revived. Now runs as a weekend shuttle between Broadway-Lafayette Street, and Essext Street. (This is to help ease weekend overcrowding on the (F) .)

That's all I have for my ideas.
