  1. I think I missed 4 answers, which gives me a 95% on the test, assuming none of the questions I missed was thrown out due to protests. Has anyone else who missed 4 answers gotten called for the OPA yet? I'll email the exams unit myself at some point, but I don't want to be premature. I know they're proceeding at their own pace, and I can't rush them - I just don't want to be skipped.
  2. @ Cait Sith, I'm one of the many who hasn't received the OPA letter yet, and I took the exam in one of the earlier administrations, 4/23 a.m. So it's definitely not based on chronology in terms of when you took the test - I suspect it's based on finalized (but not yet official) score. Finalized because Transit has determined what questions if any they will throw out based on the protest sessions, so the grading is done. Not official because nothing is official until Transit actually releases the list for this exam.
  3. I got 4 wrong, no OPA letter yet, either. Curious both to know when the letter comes and what this OPA experience is like.
  4. My understanding is that several months ago they finished calling everyone who passed the promotIonal conductor exam. They may have had mixed classes with open competitive and promotional candidates. Transit is obligated to call everyone for processing who passes promotional exams - they aren't required to do so for open-competitive exams and never do so with popular ones like conductor, train operator or track worker. An open competitive 8094 class just began and I think there will be at least one more 8094 class before they begin calling from 6601. Perhaps there will be 3-4 months of 8094 classes before they start calling from 6601, that's what I'd like to know - when 8094 ends and 6601 begins.
  5. @adorkasherri, Lots of opportunity for OT, which starts daily once you work more than 8 hours. And night/weekend differentials, etc. it can definitely add up, even if you stay in the title. I think someone mentioned that the new contract provided top base pay for conductors at approx. $31.50 per hour - it does take a while, 5 years I believe, to reach top pay.
  6. @Lovablepj, I'm thinking the OPA will be pass/fail. Then those who pass will be invited back to submit their paperwork and take a drug test. Then if you test clean on to the medical exam and final paperwork before you're assigned a date for school car.
  7. @Riello, very different jobs, track and conductor. Always good to be at Transit and have a choice whether to try a different title. I think I had a 96, 4 wrong. If I don't get a letter in next few weeks I'll just have to wait until the list comes out, I suppose.
  8. @Candorgreen, I haven't received a letter yet. Maybe in today's mail, maybe in the next few weeks... I'm eager to get started myself. Transit works at their own pace. I wouldn't be nervous. Fundamentally they haven't even established the list yet, so they haven't even started hiring off of it. They're starting the screening process. Just keep track of the list numbers of people who've been hired and started training once the list is established. If for any reason they've skipped your list number, which can happen, go in and politely point that out and request that they start the screening process with you. I could br wrong but I don't think we have any basis to complain and request screening until we know our list number and how far they've hired off the list.
  9. @LIRRMedford, the other thing is that there's a lot more to learn and perfect in the T/O title. It's very unforgiving and a lot of people wash out of the training program. It's probably a better bet to spend a few years as conductor and then promote to T/O. Then, if you don't like T/O, or fail the program, you're back where you were and still a Transit employee.
  10. @bknighshadow, that's promising. I got 4-5 wrong, I can't remember, I've thrown out the sheet. Hopefully my letter will come soon.
  11. @Jchambers, Thanks. A lot of hoops to jump through but I feel I'm ready.
  12. I'm very excited they're moving forward with 6601. I haven't received my letter yet but I didn't score that high. Do the letters indicate drug testing or medical screening? Or just going in for oral proficiency?
  13. The mta.info website? It's been screwy for the past week or so.
  14. Thanks for sharing, BK2Amityville. That timeline makes sense since the 8994 list (prior open competitive) is supposed to expire in Feb 2018.
  15. A lot of people don't carry their Social Security card in their wallet. Technically you're not supposed to, at least that's what Social Security tells you. Yes, bring all requested paperwork and follow all directions. The HR staff is very picky.
  16. @NYCYellowjacket, happy to do what I can. Thanks for sharing the rate card. For everyone, is there anything new about the selection process and when the list might come out? I know, it comes out when it comes out... Just trying to get a sense of when this process might start.
  17. @NYCyellowjacket, wages have risen per the labor contracts. There's a rate sheet from the union that shows hourly rates for different titles at full pay and how they increase each year.
  18. @chychy814, Did Transit call or write you to offer you the job? I'm curious because I'm waiting for exam results myself (open competitive conductor 6601) and wondering if they might do the same for that exam.
  19. It is crazy how there has been no official update in a year. Very frustrating. They had extended the prior exam, 8094, so they went back to that list after they finished hiring from the promotional conductor list. I've heard they'll start hiring from 6601 (this list) early next year, 2018, so I would imagine they'll be releasing the official list sometime in October or November of this year. What do others think?
  20. has anyone heard about more hiring due to the MTA's emergency plan announced today? I read a reference to 2,600 new hires but couldn't find details about the titles to be hired, and how many in each title. Track workers, of course, but any conductors?
  21. @Young, my impression is that nothing has changed in the past six months or so, since the previous conductor list (8094) was extended one year. Does that sound right to you? And when should the 6601 list be issued? February 2018?
  22. Anything new about when the list may be established? I know, no official word as of yet. Just wondering if any announcement may be coming in the next few months.
  23. Yes! Hide nothing and disclose everything. There are lots of people in Transit with significant criminal histories and checkered employment backgrounds. Most of these things are perfectly OK - they don't expect anyone to be perfect. Disclose the bad things in writing before you get sworn in.
